I admit, I don't read as much as I used to, mostly because I can't find the time. Between work, girlfriend, exercise, DVDs (!), sports, etc., the only time I have is just before bed or during lunch (that is, if I don't have a million errands to run). I used to be able to read on the train to work, but now I drive.

So when do you read?

I used to read all the time too. Now, I read on the way to work (I carpool), on my breaks & lunch (if the Internet connection is down) and in the evening if I don't feel like watching tv or dvds (it does happen!).

I really regret not having the time I used to...I used to be able to get through a regular-sized paperback in less than a day; now it takes me several weeks. Oh well, the consequences of growing up I suppose...

Or you could go the expensive route and get Unabridged books on tape. You can even rent them from the library. I have a good 45 minute drive into work usually (with no traffic it would take about 20 minutes) and it's nice to have a book on tape. Unfortunately, there's some good morning shows in my area I like to listen to and on my way home there's a sports/current events show I like to listen to as well, so I haven't been buying as many books on tape as I used to.

I travel to work by bus and/or train so I have a built-in opportunity.

I usually devote about 45 minutes right before I go to bed. It usually makes me tired, and I sleep better.

I usually try and read a bit when I get home from work and then before bed. I don't watch a ton of TV either so that helps. I can generally read about 4 to 6 books a month.

I read whenever I can. I don't have a lot of time to just sit and read, but after I bought a PDA I read an ebook whenever I have a few minutes. It's amazing how much you can actually read that way.

Bedtime. Unfortunately comprehension is diminished just before sleep overtakes me and I have to reread portions over again. Sometimes I read at my desk while I eat lunch.

I'm one of those people that has a bookshelf full of books I haven't had time to read yet, and still goes to the bookstore each weekend

I've recently found that though I can't walk and chew gum, I can walk the treadmill and read (go figure)...so I've been able to catch up at the gym!

Since I commute by metro now...

I get at least 2 hours of reading in a day (during the week). I have an hour ride on the metro and an hour lunch.

When I go to sleep every night.

Also, I listen to audio books in the car as well as always carrying a book with me - so if I'm standing on line at the post office, getting my car washed, whatever, I can read.

I work nights so I have eight hours every night to listen to audio books. I listen to them on MP3s I download from my Audible.com account and from books I checkout at the library. I also read ebooks I download from Peanut Press on my Sony Clie whenever I have a chance. I have been averaging around 20 books a month over the last six months. I have not purchased an actual paper book in more than three years and doubt I ever will again. Computer text and audio files are much easier to store.

I read at nite and sometimes fall asleep with the book. Unfortunately, I don't remember much of what I read the next day, which is a shame even if it is a fiction book; no happy memory of the author's presumably cleverly done mise-en-scene.

I always carry a book in my purse, just in case I get stuck somewhere in line or in a waiting room. I also read in bed before falling asleep. If I'm in the middle of something I can't put down, I'll read all evening. I have to admit, shamefacedly, that the internet has cut into my reading time.

It feels like I never have time to read. Between job and school. The only time i have to read is right before bed if I am not too tried from the day.

I read for up to an hour right before falling asleep at night. I say "up to" because I often fall asleep sooner.

I usually read on the train to/from work.
Sometimes reading before bed backfires for me.
Instead of making me tired, if its a really good book, I'll stay up until i finish it...

I usually read about an hour or so at work and sometimes another half hour during lunch if I don't eat. Usually also in the morning and sometimes right before bed depending on how tired I am.

I know what you mean. There have been a few times that I've stayed up until 4 or 5 in the morning, because I couldn't put the book down.

I've started reading while driving (only at stop lights during rush hour).

I know it's sad, over the last few years, I've only picked up a book when I'm not in a relationship, lots more free time though

Well, the average red light is around 2 minutes, and sometimes, I have to wait through 2-4 red lights, so that can mean up to 10 pages that I can read per stop.
