If you're chopped liver I'm the accompanying onions.

Re: Next Criterion flash sale?

This is on the Criterion website only, correct? Not Barnes & Noble (?) I always get mine via Criterion and forget about the B&N sales most of the time.

Do you folks get their email newsletters and announcements? I vaguely recall previous situations where others here got a code and I did not, so perhaps it’s just random? Also, I’ve sat out a couple of sales in a row now so maybe that triggers an incentive to come back?

Re: Next Criterion flash sale?

I did get a coupon last December, not sure for what, but it expires in June so I'll be using it today.

Quick question, if a coupon takes you back below the threshold for free shipping, is it no longer free? I.E., if I order 4 $20 Blus, then hit my $10 coupon to go back down to $70, am I now considered under $75?

Re: Next Criterion flash sale?

Got all the titles I wanted above this round. And threw in "All About Eve" for good measure. Very very happy. Well, save for not getting that $10.00 coupon

Re: Next Criterion flash sale?

Easy-peasy. Had $20 in coupons, got these four for about $83, free shipping.

The Man Who Wasn't There 4K (yes!)
Pee-Wee's Big Adventure 4K
Birth 4K
Network 4K

There are a few others I'd like to add to the collection, but they can wait for B&N.

Re: Next Criterion flash sale?

Used my $20 in certificates to grab Pee Wee's Big Adventure and the Renown Westerns set. Just unlocked a $50 certificate with the site so I'll be ready for the flash sale at the end of the year.

The $10 and so on coupons they send out count as payment so they will not cause you to lose free shipping.

Re: Next Criterion flash sale?

I've actually never watched a 4K disc and have just been streaming for the past 10 or so years but I wanted to see what they looked like so I ordered:

Malcolm X
Birth
Eyes Wide Shut
The Red Shoes

I finally watched "The Red Shoes" for the first time a few months ago. I blind purchased it during their last sale. I got tired of hearing so many famous Directors rave about it and wanted to see what all the fuss was about. They were spot on. It's magic.

That's actually the only one of the four I haven't seen before and I bought it for the exact same reason.

After the Red Shoes, do yourselves a favor and check out The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, A Matter of Life and Death and Black Narcissus. And if you like those, check out all of Criterion's other Powell and Pressburger titles. You won't be sorry.

Re: Next Criterion flash sale?

By the time I could give the sale a look, Network and Pee-Wee's Big Adventure had already sold out. Oh well; there will be other sales!

I ordered:
  • I Know Where I'm Going!
  • PlayTime
  • Yi Yi
  • 3:10 to Yuma
  • The Man Who Wasn't There
...all in UHD. Between the $10 in the email and $50 in previous rewards, that averages less than $15 a pop!

Re: Next Criterion flash sale?

There were another dozen or so titles I wanted to order, but I wasn't 100% sure on them, and after ordering as much as I did I figured I'd hold off until July for the B&N and Amazon sale.

It's a good idea to keep some of those titles active as "throw-ins"; movies you add to your order to make the free shipping threshold. That's what Watership Down was for me on this go around.
