Re: Amazon: Blu-ray discounts and deals mega-thread

Amazon's search has turned atrocious, searching 'Warner Archive' and having them sorted by price serves a painful assortment of garbage. Here's a few low price points on Warner Archive titles at the time of this writing:
Party Girl - $9.90
Some Came Running - $10.99
Lullaby of Broadway - $8.99
In the Good Old Summertime - $9.99
Ladies They Talk about - $11.18
Fury - $11.60
The Thin Man Goes Home - $10.99
Mad Love - $11.49
Children of The Damned - $8.99

Re: Amazon: Blu-ray discounts and deals mega-thread

Amazon's search barely works anymore. Even when I search on items I know they carry, the results won't include the specific item I searched for. From what I can tell, certain labels are promoted higher in the search results even if the query has nothing to do them. I suspect those labels have paid for better search results on Amazon.

Movie searches are actually better if you drop "Blu-ray" or "DVD" from the search.

I'm sure they've paid for higher positioning on a page. Almost every search I make these days has a half dozen or so "sponsored" results before the *real* search results are returned. Even if one of those "sponsored" ones is exactly what I'm looking for I won't use it and scroll down to the normal result instead simply because I'm sure they're tracking clicks on those sponsor links.

Yeah, I've bitched about Amazon's search function before. It's really awful; you'll search for movie title, and it will return page after page of things you didn't specifically search for. And then with a bunch of digital downloads/rentals thrown into the mix as well. It's ridiculous.

It's so bad that if I'm looking for something specific, I'll google for the UPC code, and then do an Amazon search for the UPC code.

Re: Amazon: Blu-ray discounts and deals mega-thread

It seems pretty clear that Amazon is choosing search results based on their priorities, not the customers. Agreed, UPC is the best way to search on Amazon. Hard to believe that ebay has a much better search engine. In general, especially with their huge size, Amazon's use of tech skills is dreadful.

There's already a thread for complaining about Amazon. Please keep this one for deals posts!

Re: Amazon: Blu-ray discounts and deals mega-thread

I sometimes find good deals on blu-rays in the Amazon Warehouse section...but the past two days the results have been drastically shrinking. Supposedly only 21 blu-rays now - maybe there's something wrong with my bookmark? ----->
Amazon Amazon

Or are they phasing out blu-rays altogether in the Warehouse Deals?

I find the Warehouse to kind of be like a game of Roulette. I got a killer deal once on a pair of B&W headphones; but have rarely found anything else. I wish Warehouse results would show up in the main search engine.

Follow-up on my Amazon Warehouse query - Now my bookmark shows only 12 blu-rays on offer...yet Stanley Long's Adventures (from Indicator) shows one offered, that does NOT show up when you actually search Warehouse listings(!) Is there a Prime Day thing coming up soon? Perhaps their engineers are doing some back-end work on the site which is playing havoc with their inventory not showing... --Peter

Without saying too much, I have some (only a little) Amazon info the public may not see. I have come to a conclusion that their I.T. dept is a bad joke.

Amazon doesn’t care all that much about its retail business anymore, their real profit center is AWS, so retail IT gets the bottom of the barrel.

Amazon Amazon

No Time to Die 4K is only $10 with a coupon.

If you still don't have it, this might be the time.

Re: Amazon: Blu-ray discounts and deals mega-thread

Amazon is matching some of B&N's Arrow 50% off sale, but more importantly some of the items also qualify for the B2G1! I just picked up the 4Ks of Dune, Mary Shelly's Frankenstein and 12 Monkeys for 16.66 each. I'm sure the B2G1 overlap won't last long.

How do you activate the B2G1 for Amazon? I added 3 but don't see the discount.

Re: Amazon: Blu-ray discounts and deals mega-thread

Listings have a little green 'Savings' tag near the price details. The full list is here:
Amazon Amazon
Although whenever I scroll through it, the same titles/listings keep popping up dozens of times. Very annoying, but maybe it's just my browsers. Ultimately, I went through the 'Save For Later' portion of my cart to see what qualified, then built some three-fers of similar price.

Amazon's sale is only for certain items, as Brian said they specifically say on the page if they're part of the sale, as you can see below

So if you don't see the 'Get 3 for the price of 2', then the item isn't part of the sale.
