Do you know by chance which 4k will be on sale?
Do you know what the low sale price will be for 4k?
Last one was like $18 and it used to be $15 for many years.

That's a bit unfair... Kino is a rather small business. If they've increased sale prices it's likely due to increases they've seen on the production end. I've not noticed an increase in their MSRP which means if that's the case they're absorbing the majority of their production increases and just can't offer sale prices as low as before and make a profit. It also costs more to produce a 4K disc. They *do* tend to price TV product on the higher side when compared to what the studios release themselves. I somewhat feel that's all due to licensing and not any "greedflation" on their part as other smaller distributors also price TV product higher than what you'd expect from a studio release.

TV sets just don't sell that well outside of a few huge exceptions. So they never drop much in price because it's such a small base looking for them.

My comment on greedflation was directed at most of the USA; I was not singling out Kino. I am sad that I am priced out of these sales.

Re: Kino Lorber & KL Studio Classics sales, discounts, and deals
Can anyone verify Nikkijo’s claim that 4Ks were $15 in previous sales, especially “for many years”? I’m not a 4K buyer unless there’s a Blu-ray in the pack that I can’t get separately, but I really don’t recall large numbers of 4K sets always being $15 in their sales. I do recall many being $17.99 on sale, going back years. I don’t doubt there were some $15 titles, and maybe still are, but surely they’re just older titles? I mean, you can buy a Blu-ray in this sale for, say, $9.99, but in the next sale it will be $11.99, and then maybe $8.49 the sale after that. They’re all over the map, frankly, so if you really want the lowest prices on everything you need, I’ve learned that it takes multiple sales to get it.

I remember enjoying Kolchak, as a kid. I was really spooked by the episode "Firefall."
Yeah, I think I'll order it. My wife never knows what to get me for Christmas, so this can be part of it.
I'm also going to order The Indian Doctor - complete series. I enjoyed that quite a bit, and had no idea it was available on Blu-ray.
Thanks Adam Tyner, for posting that huge list.
Also, for any Canadian buyers, Unobstructed View has all these (at least all that I checked) titles on sale, as well. They surprisingly don't work out to much more than the US sale prices plus exchange. Hopefully they've improved their shipping times.
Crap. Now you've got me second guessing myself on Kolchak. It's $56 CAN, which is really pushing it, based on your description.
Okay, they've (Unobstructed View) lost their fucking minds on shipping. $14 for a $23 set.

Re: Kino Lorber & KL Studio Classics sales, discounts, and deals
I realized that I still had many of Kino’s sales announcement emails from the last five years and in some of the oldest ones, I do indeed see some $14.99 UHD samples shown, then for the past two or three years, $17.99 seems to be the norm, with just some older 4K titles being cheaper at $14.99. As I mentioned, I don’t buy them, much.
Kino Blu-rays are a different story, though.
When I look at my recent ‘sale’ orders at Kino versus orders from up to eight years ago, I’m hard pressed to see significant differences, overall.
Examples from my order history:
Dec. 2023 sale: 11 Blu-rays: nine were $4.99 to $9.99, two were $10.99.
Sept. 2023 sale: 25 Blu-rays: 23 were $6.99 to $9.99, and two ‘collections’ were $25 and $30 (Maria Montez 3-pack and Mr. Wong 4-pack, respectively), which meant each movie in both sets was around $8 or less.
Oct. 2021 sale: 26 Blu-rays: 21 were $6.99 to $9.99, three were $10.99, one was $11.99, and one was $12.49. These last two were, not surprisingly, still relatively new at the time, but so were some of the others in fact.
Apr. 2017 sale: 16 titles: eight were $6.99 to $9.99; the rest were $11.99 (and all of those have been cheaper many times since then)
Aug. 2016 sale: nine titles, all $8.99 to $9.99.
I’d post all 34 orders that my account shows between Aug. 2016 and last Christmas, but they only prove the point regarding Kino’s Blu-rays.
And all things considered, Kino’s Blu sales are still better than, say, most of Shout’s sales and literally all of Severin’s sales these days, and probably some of Vinegar Syndrome’s sales too. I recall occasionally pointing out VS ‘sale’ titles in that thread that were cheaper in previous offerings. You do have to be careful with some of these places.
So, in the sense of the overall industry, I totally agree that some boutique sales just ain’t what they used to be (i bitch about them enough around here ) but Kino has been remarkably consistent, at least for the Blu-rays if not 4Ks. This does make sense, I suppose, as more people buy Blu than 4K, so I assume they produce more Blu-rays, and someone else mentioned the higher costs of producing 4Ks, so there’s that as well.

Re: Kino Lorber & KL Studio Classics sales, discounts, and deals
They *did* have the films. Both are now OOP and OOS at Kino. I picked up both from their "While supplies last" selection during a previous sale just to have them. They're basically extended episodes that were originally made-for-TV movies and got fairly good ratings - enough so to get the series produced. If you don't care for the series you likely won't care for those movies.

Do prices continue to adjust down throughout the day or sale? For example, only one out of four Eric Rohmer titles released on the same day are on sale, which doesn't make sense.

I think I'm going to skip this sale. There is nothing screaming on my wish list that I need to own right now.
