I was up to 46 titles, and have whittled that down to a measly 39 . . . for now. I also swapped out a few Blu-Rays for the DVD counterparts on about six titles that I suspect may not be keepers. Part of me just wants to blow the bank and get it all over with, and if I was a wealthier man, I'd probably grab half of the stuff there just on spec, but cooler (barely!) heads must prevail.

With you on this, Pal...every bit. I could only whittle it down by 2 titles. I have a couple of Craigslist transactions happening this weekend, which might spur me on with this insanity.

Totally agree. Problem for me is narrowing down which ones I absolutely must have.

They seriously need an "involved" website designer for their sales. I bet more people would shop regularly...not mention buy more titles because they stayed in their carts!

As long as you're logged in while loading your cart, the stuff should stay there when you log out, but I do wish they had a "save for later" section so I didn't have to keep deleting items then searching for them again when I change my mind.

Happy to report that after whittling 46 down to 39, I whittled and whittled some more and was able to get down to . . . 47! Aww, shit!

we could be brothers, Man. Its probably the best 'first world problem' we've had on this forum, yet this year. I can't cave, I can't, I won't...(sound of voice fading)

Just a reminder that The Hurricane is going OOP soon. Kino posted about this on FB last week. When they are OOS that will probably be it.

I believe The Huricane goes OOP on 7/31/17 unless they run out of stock sooner.

That film noir set is insane.. That is $5 a BD!! Had to go back and add some other films (Hurricane, 23 paces,Lifeboat) to get free shipping.

That's it.. I am tapped out...

What is with this month anyhow? Kino, Arrow, Network, Criterion all having insane sales!!!! is July the new Black Friday?

Anyone want to offer some suggestions as to the must have titles from Kino? I have a bit of their titles already but don't want to miss anything at these prices. Thanks!

My cart does seem to be saved. With tremendous restraint I'm at $104. No idea where the money's coming from.

You mentioned in a few threads that you're not exactly cash rich right now. Yet, you have $104 to burn and continue to lurk for BD bargains?

As for this sale. There's a few things I'm interested in, but I'm hesitant to stock up on stuff I won't watch right away.

Don't I know it!

It's been so bad I've forgotten what I've ordered. Just ended up with two copies of Finian's Rainbow. My Warner's order arrived today (2 days early, btw). When I placed the order I had forgotten I had already ordered it from Amazon a few days before the Warners sale.

I could easily order a dozen titles from Kino, but got to keep it down. Also, I'm in a bit of a quandary. Along with four other titles, I was going to order the two new Elvis titles. Then realized they're pre-orders and probably wouldn't arrive at my current address until after I leave. In fact, since I'm only going to be here another four weeks, it's very likely nothing would arrive before I leave. Looks like I'm going to have to skip this sale. Crap!

As an aside, and not related to entertainment media sales, but at least two retail institutions had online sales the past few weeks and referred to them as Black Friday in July.

Maybe a new retail trend?

I couldn't resist that Noir box; but I showed a ton of restraint (If I had it, it would have been easy to spend $500+; & I'm going to have to pass on the Arrow sale).

[Blu-ray] The Hurricane 1 $9.98
[Blu-ray] Deadline U.S.A. 1 $10.98
[Blu-ray] Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema (Big House, U.S.A., A Bullet For Joey, He Ran All the Way, Storm Fear, Witness to Murder) (5 Discs) 1 $24.98
[Blu-ray] Zaza 1 $11.98
Sub-Total $57.92
Discount -$0.00
Shipping [FedEx Smartpost] $0.00
Tax $0.00
Total $57.92

According to another site, more titles have been added (bringing it to 422). I'm told the Scorpion-produced titles are eligible, but I don't know which those are.

I can't pull the trigger just yet (probably wait until next week) but so far I have:

Silkwood (Blu-ray) $11.98
Lifeboat (Blu-ray) $9.98
I'm Gonna Git You Sucka (Blu-ray) $8.98
Haunted Honeymoon (Blu-ray) $9.98
The Good Son (Special Edition) (Blu-ray) $10.98

$51.90...I did have 9 or 10, but I trimmed it down to ones I know I would watch.

I'm still struggling to narrow things down. I need one more title for free shipping and 10 possibilities that I'm trying to decide from. And that's after already reducing my options!

I recommend getting I'm Gonna Git You Sucka (Blu-ray)

Still hilarious today. Probably wouldn't be made today, either.

I got the processing email today.

My memory is Kino is slower than Amazon (shudder).

Re: Kino Studio Classics 'Launch' Sale - Ends August 6, 2017

Being away from home for a few more weeks and not wanting to pass up this sale, I've decided to wait until Aug 4 or 5 to place an order. Going for the free shipping and since two titles are pre-orders due to be released Aug 8, I'm thinking (hoping) they'll wait to ship the entire order at once. If so, and it takes the usual amount of time to arrive (in my experience 2 weeks +, give or take a few days), then I figure my order ought to arrive just about the time I get back home... or sometime shortly thereafter.

Realize there's risk I might miss out if stuff gets sold out and OOP before the order gets processed, but there's nothing I can't live without... so no biggie if it happens.

Re: Kino Studio Classics 'Launch' Sale - Ends August 6, 2017

So after whittling my cart from 39 all the way down to 47, I set to chopping and hacking even further on the weekend and got it all the way down to 56!

Then I realized that math was never my strong suit, and so I trimmed more truthfully and tapped out at 44. For real. The Blu-rays are virtually all upgrades of one sort or another, but I also switched several titles from Blu to DVD as they're a) blind-buys or re-visits I suspect aren't really necessary on Blu-Ray and b) will probably be sold off after I watch them (certain Blus may end get sold as well). The price differences between the formats were only a couple of bucks in most cases, but it took some of the edge off. I'm now done with Kino until I've amassed a new wish list of future titles AND they (hopefully?) have another sale this good some day.

Blu-Ray:
The Ape 3D $11.98
Biggles: Adventures in Time $9.98
Blown Away $9.98
Boy on a Dolphin $9.98
The Challenge $9.98
Daredevils of the Red Circle (1939) (12 Chapter Serial) $10.98
David and Bathsheba $9.98
Daisy Kenyon $9.98
Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine $9.98
Deluge $9.98
The Destructors $9.98 (blind buy)
Enter the Ninja $9.98
How I Won the War $8.98 (blind buy, but my only unseen Richard Lester film)
Magnetic Monster $8.98
Lifeboat $9.98
Moving Violations $9.98
No Highway in the Sky $9.98
Pitfall $10.98
Twice Told Tales $9.98
White Lightning $9.98
Those Redheads from Seattle (3D Edition) $13.98
Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema (5 Discs) $24.98
- Big House, U.S.A.
- A Bullet For Joey
- He Ran All the Way
- Storm Fear
- Witness to Murder
The Astro-Zombies $9.98
Compulsion $9.98
Chandu the Magician $9.98
Kings of the Sun $9.98
Road to Bali $8.98
Road to Rio $8.98
The Lemon Drop Kid $8.98
1492: Conquest of Paradise $11.98
One Million Years, B.C. (1966) $12.98
Deadline U.S.A. 1 $10.98
23 Paces to Baker Street $9.98
The Laughing Policeman $9.98
One, Two, Three $11.98
Thunderbirds Are Go! / Thunderbird 6 (Double Feature) $11.98

DVDs
Certain Fury $7.98
Scavenger Hunt $7.98
Star Slammer $7.98
Taras Bulba $7.98
Billion Dollar Brain $7.98
When Eight Bells Toll $7.98
Beware! The Blob aka Son of Blob $7.98
The Inspector (34 Cartoons, 2-Discs) $9.98
