Was it this one?

If so I recommend people skip it as mine has some disc rot occurring.

I enjoyed The Forest. A decent horror movie that doesn't descend into schlock.

^As with my Dollar Tree, nothing new hasn’t been shipped in over 2 months.

Re: Dollar General Blu-rays

There are Dollar General stores all around me. I stopped in one today that was relatively new. While I didn't purchase them, there were a few things of interest that I might pick up at some point.

Several copies of the East of Eden digibook mentioned before.

Also the Diamond Luxe version of Natural Born Killers (once more, several of them on the spinner rack)

Re: Dollar General Blu-rays

So I’ve been on a hunt for the Gremlins Diamond Luxe. I haven’t found that, but am coming across LOTS of other good deals at all different stores (there’s a ton around me).
Sunspecies was $1.95, Rise of the Zombies $2.95, Land of the Dead $4.95, and Warner Brothers Musicals $9.95.

I would have been secretly pleased about the Green Lantern BD, too ...

Re: Dollar General Blu-rays

I know this is dollar general stuff but recent read dolar tree to get new shipments to store around april30th. but know not all stores get media or every wave as they call it. and not al stores stock them the same time since i read news is around they get any and collectors and otehrs snag any gems to resell anytime by chance. so check places or even call and hope they say yes and check stores for new boxes any. can only guess they get calls asking for media almost anytime. and this pandemic may have caused sales to go up as sell more and faster any unles stream cause a lot of traffic to not buy as often as before. physical media always gonna be a topic cause stream only show so much and then pull stuff and add new anytime.

Re: Dollar General Blu-rays

Sadly, the selections at my nearest Dollar General are looking more and more like a Bible store. (God's Not Dead 1 & 2, Kirk Cameron's face, and the 10 million copies of Son Of God...Next to the 5 million copies of Terminator 3)

The only Dollar General I ever visit carries very little media. It's a smaller location and often looks like a war zone.

I visited about 12 stores looking for Gremlins Diamond Luxe and almost all the stores were obliterated, some had DVD only, some no media, but 2 stores and some great stuff

Re: Dollar General Blu-rays

Well, I did find a few things left. Any Given Sunday on Blu-ray for $5 and the Ocean's Eleven Triple-pack for $7. A lot more DVD than Blu-ray, however.

The register also spit out a coupon for $5 off a $25 purchase.

Why don't you just buy a Blu-ray player? They're not that expensive these days, and you could probably get a used one for a really good price at a pawn shop.

And if you say that you can't afford to buy one, just lay off buying discs for a week or two and spend the money that you would have spent on discs on the Blu-ray player.

Just a thought.

Exactly. And it's not like Blu-ray players don't play DVDs.

Re: Dollar General Blu-rays

My nearest store finally got in some new movies...BUT they're all DVD only. Zero BDs. (The last BD I remember getting there was Woodstock)

I've also noticed that R-rated movies are becoming less & less available. The only R-movies they seem to stock are "New Releases" like Fatale and Antebellum, which are often in the $15 range.

Re: Dollar General Blu-rays

Been a long while since Dollar General has been relevant to me when it comes to media. I don't pop in too often, though I have stores all around me. I happened to visit a location today and found signage that their DVDs are 50% off from 3/5-3/11. This applies to everything except the Sony/SDS? titles. At my locations, the non-qualifying titles are usually in one of the aisles on a normal wire rack display. The ones which should be 50% off are in the cardboard displays. I used the DG app on my phone to scan a few prices and it appears the sale applies on DVDs, BDs, 4K discs, the $1 previously viewed treasure hunt titles, etc., which makes for some possible deals worth checking out.

I didn't buy it, but I found a 4K copy of The Hurricane Heist which scanned for $1.48 ($2.95 sticker price).

I went ahead by 3 other stores without going out of my way. My best find was a Musical 4-pack on BD (The Band Wagon, Calamity Jane, Kiss Me Kate (includes 3D version according to outer wrapping) and Singin' in the Rain. Packaging also says it includes exclusive collectible art cards. Sticker price of $6.95 ($3.48 at half price)
