Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
What is amazing is I made a comment in general about the sale for our forum and someone thought I was directly addressing them personally.
|
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Shopped 5 of the many DG stores in my area and basically left with no Blu-rays. We bought other stuff so it was not a total waste.
|
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Wish there was more than just one Dollar General store in my town that way I dont have to keep seeing the usual pegwarming stuff
|
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Besides Free Birds that animated turkey time travel movie, Ill probably end up buying these movies later this week before the BOGO sale thing ends
Boyz in the Hood, Nightmare on Elm Street 5 DVD, Children of the Corn DVD which Im pretty sure its the bare bones kind with no bonus features. and if i can afford it, i might buy one of the new releases like Passengers, Resident Evil Final Chapter or Tom Cruise's Mummy DVD |
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
A list of things I picked up today, should it be of interest to anyone. I can almost guarantee these titles weren't present at these locations last year, because I feel certain I would have bought them then.
Spoiler:
I visited 5 locations all within 10 miles from home. I'll pass by a few more on a trip to visit family on Tuesday and potentially many more on a trip to visit other family on Wednesday. This could be a costly week. :D Edit to add: Rather than additional posts, I'll continue to add to the list above |
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Lazurus Effect has been around recently since October for their horror movie bargain bin for Halloween time.
Plus I noticed there were two small or medium sized boxes right next to the spinner rack of the usual old blu rays of movies. I wonder if the pile of unopened boxes might be a newer better selection of movies for blu ray. Maybe. someone at bluray com forum posted a pic of newer in stock stuff like the Eric Bana Hulk movie for blu ray along with other stuff |
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
so who knows what is in those boxes that I saw where they were right next to the blu ray movie spinner rack

Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Can’t resist $1.24 BDs very often. Picked up a handful at my local store. Fwiw, I can’t get the code for Lazarus Effect to work.
|
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
I went to stop at my closest DG yesterday and they randomly had a written sign on the front door saying they were closed for the day. Probably a sign that I shouldn't be buying any BDs anyway  I'd likely find something to impulse buy but doubt there's anything I really want.
|
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
they're on to you lol. They know you only buy movies and nothing else.
I feel the same way when i go into the one and only Dollar General store in town. I either only buy movies all the time when they have good stuff or I just mostly buy those cheap dollar burgers you put in the microwave and botttles of pop/soda |
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Anyone know if the Midnight Madness version of the Children of the Corn DVD have any bonus features or not. Just wondering since the Midnight Madness re releases dont have anything listed, but the Hellraiser II Midnight Madness DVD is actually the Unrated version by the way.
So I was just curious about the recent Midnight Madness DVD of the original Children of the Corn movie is the 20th or 25th anniversary DVD from a few years back? |

There were several for which I couldn't get the codes to work, and The Lazarus Effect was one of them. I also made the mistake of redeeming the code in the Unknown/Edge of Darkness double-feature through Movies Anywhere, which only gave me the digital copy of Unknown. When I checked Vudu later, I saw that it would have given me both as a bundle. Live and learn. |
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Well, I just went to the Family Dollar store half an hour ago and bought these movies
Scooby Doo the first live action movie The Mummy Tomb of the Dragon Emperor Dirty Harry Magnum Force Cherynobly Diaries. Wasnt planning on buying this movie but there wasnt much to pick from anyway |
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
It appears that Dollar General has fixed the glitch, unfortunately. I was at two different stores today, and at both stores the 4.95 Blus rang up at 2.48 each, but were not lowered to 1.24 each with the BOGO at totaling.
|
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Obi Wan, did you post the same exact thing at the bluray.com website forum? Because your post sounds the exact same as the one over there

Oh well...it was great fun while it lasted, and $2.48 for a Blu-ray is still a really, really good deal. |
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Bummer. I'll be by a different store tonight. Will probably stop regardless, but my excitement level has dropped.
|
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Im kind of disappointed in the selection of movies for blu ray that the Dollar General store has been having since this summer. Even for this pre black friday BOGO sale, the movies are just bunch of junk ranging from the cloggers that are the Taken movies, old junk like Caddyshack even though that old movie is still funny i guess, then you got stuff like the horror movies for Halloween time, and decent stuff like the Dirty Harry and Magnum Force two in one and random old 1980s flicks like Say Anything or Risky Business.
|
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
I was expecting to see a little bit more of a variety such as brand new movies being put on sale for 4.95 and XXX Return of Xander doesnt quite cuty it for a new movie to be put on sale that cheap at a Dollar General store.
|
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Heck i would love to see these movies end up at Dollar General store just for a nice shock and surprise
Nightmare on Elm Street remake The Wolverine for blu ray. doesnt have to be the fancy extended version. Just the blu ray would be nice at 4.95 Harold and Kumar Christmas. Why hasnt this movie been re released the past Christmases for a couple of years? |
