I think he's talking about Walmart:

If I can somehow grab a 50" flat screen for under $200, I'll be very happy.

Our 65" 10 year old Toshiba is sitting in the corner waiting to be fixed, but that might be a little while

Wal-Mart is having their own sale starting on Wed. to counter Amazon's Prime Day. They will also be offering their new $50 shipping service at a discount of $35 for at least the next 30 days.

Somehow, I just don't see Walmart coming even close to an Amazon competitor. Completely different products and offerings from a much wider choice of quality.

But I guess I wouldn't mind a 6-pack of Coors Light being shipped to my door, just for the hell of it.

Re: July 15 Amazon Prime Day

Hopefully there are some deals in the morning that I will be interested in as I'll be gone/away from a computer all afternoon/early evening.

Edit - Looks like I'll be home all day - as my plans for Wednesday afternoon/early evening have been canceled - probably be moved to Thursday afternoon/evening.

That's a big risk, IMO. They already have the slowest free-shipping approach which has me boycotting their new releases and going elsewhere. To list members only pricing might be enough to boycott Amazon for anything but pricing much lower than the competition that doesn't force a membership.

When you think of it, pricing on many products is already very competitive, what they should be looking for is how to entice a person to buy from them instead of someone else when the price is basically the same. They use to be cheaper, count on free-shipping and being tax free, but for most those are no longer Amazon advantages anymore. Others have caught up. Having a prime price that requires a paid membership may just alienate more then it attracts.

Yeah, there's an article on USA Today:

http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/...-day/29973997/

I particularly love this quote, "We just don't believe you should pay a fee to get a better price," said Walmart spokesman Ravi Jariwala.

So as a non-member I can walk into any Sam's Club and buy from them? Good to know! /sarcasm

Neither store really want to go head-to-head in their respective markets. It would hurt profits for both companies. Walmart talks a big game for marketing reasons.

Re: July 15 Amazon Prime Day

I saw some UK Prime Deal previews. And they sucked. I'm not expecting anything out of this, other than a discount on Prime Memberships.

As much as they've been hyping this, I expect they'll at least have some kind of central location advertised on the home page.

Re: July 15 Amazon Prime Day

Apparently there is also going to be some competition from Walmart so perhaps Amazon will do the price match. There was a tease about this on the ABC Evening News tonight. They say ABC will mention some of the good deals.

ABC mentioned 32 inch LED TV $75. No brand mentioned.
Bose Headphones at lowest price ever at Amazon but no price mentioned.

Walmart $174 off IPAD Mini 2.
Over $250 off Toshiba Lap Top.
Again no actual sale price mentioned.

Re: July 15 Amazon Prime Day

Anyone know if all Prime members are eligible, or just the primary account holder?

I share my Prime membership with other family members, but they don't get some benefits like Prime Streaming. I wonder if they can get the sale prices?

Re: July 15 Amazon Prime Day

as anyone noticed that amazon is offering a discount on certain items. I had Halo 5 pre-ordered, was just checking something out, and they had a thing listed on item page that for prime members you get a 7$ discount. this is new and kind of exciting, tomorrow i am hoping for some good deals on blurays, maybe, except i work so i don't know how often ill be able to check and see.

Re: July 15 Amazon Prime Day

I've got the day off tomorrow, so I'll be around sporadically throughout the day. I'm definitely not expecting much in the way of items that interest me, but I'll still check it out.

Re: July 15 Amazon Prime Day

So does the sale for everything start at 3am? Has there been any news if it was midnight EST or PDT?

Nevermind, found my answer on that page.

Members will find deals starting at midnight PDT, with new deals starting throughout the day, as often as every ten minutes.

At the very least, I'll go for the gift card deal. Redeem them myself and net the extra $10 credit.

Looks like I'm staying up. 2hrs and 20mins left.

I'd go for one of those 40" tvs for 115.
