VCI discounts and deals

CYBER55 is the code.

They emphasize price reduction is off of list price not online price.

http://www.vcient.com/?utm_source=Co...m_medium=email

Not good on preorders

A Christmas Carol (1951) would be $9.50 after coupon.
And Then There Were None would be the same price.
Not sure what the cost of shipping is and if there is a free option.

Re: VCI Black Friday Sale 55% off list price

This is probably more of a DVD thing, as I found only 12 Blu-ray titles on their website, and none were less than $15. Interesting website, however. Haven't been there before.

Some good stuff here. They appear to still have Dark Night of the Scarecrow and I think that's out of print. Also Dark Star and Bird With The Crystal Plumage.

Classic Films 11-28-14 01:14 PM

re: VCI discounts and deals

A Christmas Carol (1951) with Alistair Syms should be $8 after coupon. However code reduces price to $9.89. Not a bad price but not 60% MSRP which is listed on site as $19.99 with the web price listed as $15.99. In addition there is $1.50 handling charge per order plus shipping on orders under $50.

thetao 11-28-14 05:04 PM

re: VCI discounts and deals

Everything I bought rang up 58% off...good enough, I think. (Technically, the banner on their site reads "Up to 60% off".) To clarify, "A Christmas Carol" should have been $8.39 (58% off the 19.99 MSRP) + 1.50 handling charge (plus shipping for orders < $50).

At least compared to last year, other retailers seem to be holding back, so I'm happy that VCI's sales still run like clockwork.

I bought
White Zombie BD
Gorgo BD
Creepy Creatures Vol. 1
Angel on my Shoulder
Terry and the Pirates
Mandrake the Magician
The Phantom

Given their other serials that have gone DVD-R, I may have just one more direct order left in me.

Based on past experience with them I'd say you have one or more titles which are excluded from the sale for one reason or another. The only way I've found to determine which it may be is to remove them one at a time and see if the discount changes.

What the Peeper Saw is definitely one of the better ones. I think that they improved White Zombie since the original reviews. The reviews on amazon seem to indicate it is better now than the Kino one.

didn't apply at $25, at $43.xx got hit with S/H although media mail was a reasonable $3.50. Only after cart > $50, did free S/H kick in

When you do a "shipping quote" in the cart it'll show "Free shipping at $50 - $00" once you hit $25 worth of product after any coupon is subtracted (it does not include the $1.50 handling fee - that's always extra and doesn't count towards the free ship total). Select that option in spite of not having $50 total.

i got carry on collection V1 (8 films), White Zombie (BD) and Leon Error shorts for $34 shipped. Not too bad, considering the carry on collection had a list of $40 by itself.

I was interested in it but everything I read that it was purported to be uncut but is indeed cut and missing an important scene or two.

Was also interested in Horror Hotel AKA City Of The Dead but everyone seems to say it is an upscaled DVD transfer and not true HD.

Was considering Peeper, Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things and The Night Visitor. Any opinions on these for those who may have them?'

I am definitely going to get The Giant Spider Invasion but it is cheaper at Amazon and includes the same extras even though VCI's site says that it is exclusive.

DVD Drive-in says otherwise:

The longer British version is once again brought to us by VCI, this time as a brand new HD presentation on Blu-ray. The 1080p transfer delivers the film in its original 1.66:1 aspect ratio with excellent detail throughout. Contrast and grayscale levels are generally good, if a tad too bright in spots, and black levels, though properly solid, tend to display artifacting and other video noise. Grain is minimal in favor of some apparent digital noise reduction, but thankfully the image is not too waxy. The film elements used for the transfer are in impeccable shape, so any fleeting cases of dirt and debris only help to give it more character. The English LPCM 2.0 audio track is quite good; dialogue is crisp and the music score has the right amount of haunting atmosphere. Optional English SDH subtitles are included.
I tend to trust their reviews I own the VCI DVD release and feel it's quite good, otherwise I'd be looking to upgrade.

Sale extended until Monday. The City of the Dead Blu-ray is still out of stock.

https://scontent-dft4-1.xx.fbcdn.net...a3&oe=58825A10

Apparently we had a few glitches in the LABOR60 coupon and some customers couldn't place orders. We believe the coupon is now fixed, so we decided to extend the sale until next Monday, 11:59pm. If you tried to use the coupon this past week and had problems, please try again. And remember, if you continue to have problems, you can always go the old fashioned route and call our toll-free customer service number 1-800-331-4077 Monday - Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm. We will happily take your order and apply the discount.

Interesting. My first order with them, so am not learned enough of how it works with them. Thanks for the update

EDIT: And just as 'g' said, order was delivered up today 9/14 (12 days after order placement) sans any prior email notification of shipping. More discs to stash away

VCI is currently selling the blu ray of A Christmas Carol for $5 plus shipping and handling. Total $9.11.
If you find other things to buy shipping and handling will be less per item. Free Shipping over $50. Still have to pay handling fee of $1.50 per order. Current 50% off coupon does not apply.

Their new free shipping minimum is $25. It changed a few months back but I don't think they've changed the text on the cart page to reflect this. If you continue through with the order it changes later.

Genevieve is a fantastic '50s Brit comedy - one of my favorites of the period, is currently $5. I'd love to see it get a full restoration like a number of Ealing comedies are getting, but $5 is more a great price; some nice bonus features on this one as well. -Peter

It's actually even less than $5. The code seems to be discounting things even further, although for sale items the amounts seem fairly random. I picked up Genevieve blu-ray, the Zorro serial collection, Flash Gordon serial, Santa Claus blu-ray, the 70s horror DVD box set, Lil Abner, and a Hayward double feature for just over $27 shipped. I think this is the best sale they have ever had. Too bad many of their titles are MIA from the website. Their 8 film noir box, Prowler blu-ray, and a few other items of interest to me are nowhere to be found.

Apparently there is an error with their system but it seems pretty random. Sometimes when you refresh a page or add or delete something after applying the code it takes away some of the discount for items still in the cart. The banner for Classic Holiday Specials Movies says price as listed no further discounts but on some (most?) of these items you get a discount with code.

The coupon should take 50% off the SRP, not the web price, although I don't recall if that has always been consistent. They have at times excluded VCI Exclusives and Collections.

I was happy to get the blu ray of What the Peeper Saw a while back, although I still haven't got around to watching it. I didn't order it immediately because it was excluded from the coupon as a VCI Exclusive, then the blu ray was unavailable on the site and drawing high prices on ebay, then it reappeared on the VCI site and was now coupon eligible.

Seems like VCI Exclusives are presently excluded, although that exclusion is limited to the sets that bundle movies that are available individually, so the sets are still a good deal.

Trevor 04-15-17 01:11 PM

re: VCI discounts and deals

Well then the web price must be exactly 50% of the SRP, because the coupon doesn't take a penny off of my dozen or so titles (most not in the exclusives section). Tried a couple browsers, maybe I'll try IE next time I'm at a computer.
