Re: Target deals

I'm surprised Target still runs these B2G1 sales so frequently. They have to be some sort of loss leader for Target's website. Customers aren't stupid in this day and age, often maximizing the best deals available.

Many people believe Target will permanently get out of media sometime in 2021 at the retail level. Hard to know if they plan to stick around as a media retailer on the web.

Re: Target deals

Placed one order online and picked up the following:

Birds of Prey BD $6
IT Chapter Two BD $6
Joker BD $6

Would have been $12+ tax, but I had some Target Circle earnings that I used to cover most of it. I didn't realize the Target Circle earnings work like a store coupon as I only got charged .06 tax.

Subtotal (3 items) $18.00
Discounts Buy 2 Get 1 Free On Select Movies
Music And Books
Target Circle Earnings -$17.06
Delivery Free
Estimated Taxes $0.06
Total $1.00

I also did another offer in store and picked up the following....

The Walking Dead Season 9 BD $10
Star Wars: Rise of the Skywalker 4K Target Excl. $10.49
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark $7.50

For some reason the offer didn't come off at the register despite all three being part of the B2G1 sale, so I had to go to CS to have it fixed. Ended up costing me $22.xx

I know Scary Stories will be cheaper at BBY later, but I didn't have a lot of time to find another title in that $10 price range and actually had to ask someone to get all 3 of these from the back room.

Well, I've seen memes on social media where people say they're going in for a toothbrush and come out with a bunch of shit, so I'd say that's a fair assumption.

I hardly go shopping at Target. But the last few times I went the media area keeps getting smaller with some of the items not even on the shelves .
Like I had to ask for a employee if they had a copy of Doctor Sleep blu. Four in back none on the shelves. This could also be due to the low sale price.
The best buy in my area is the same. The video game section is really low stock the last few times we been in, just better and easier to order online for store pick up or home delivery, I do miss browsing the movies instore. So yeah could see it shrink down to nothing . :(

Anyways going with lot of blu-rays over 4k. Price + we only have one 4k player the other two rooms are going to stay blu-ray only for awhile.
And some movies/shows are only available on blu

In store

Doctor Sleep blu. (2 versions)
Outlander Season 5

website (About $4.25 each)

Cavalcade (Blu-ray)
Midway
It Chapter 2
Knives Out
The Thomas Crown Affair

The Addams Family (Blu-ray + DVD)

Doing my regular shopping at Target I used to pick up impulse movie buys fairly often. With their selection dwindling I don't have as much reason to go there anymore- I can afford to shop at the REAL supermarkets right now and get a better selection of food items even if there's no movies to look through.

I remember when Target had the lowest prices on CDs- $10.99 sale price. Those were the days.

The theatrical film is being marketed (in this area, anyway) as "Possessor: Uncut" and the director says there's an edited version for some markets. The blu-ray seems to marketed as "Possessor" and the 4K as "Possessor: Uncut". There's no cover art shown yet for "Possessor", though the "Possessor: Uncut " listing shows a version of the poster. Target says they'll ship the 4K but they don't list it as "Possessor: Uncut", just "Possessor" (though it says "Unrated") and with no cover art. I may roll the dice, and it might be fine, and ,then again, Target might cancel it eventually. No harm, really, since it's easy to return.

So here's the answer to this question from the previous sale. "Possessor" on 4K is "Possessor Uncut", -that's what Target offers and that's the thumbnail included with my listed order. However, on blu-ray there is "Possessor" which is non-rated with a red-dominated cover, and "Possessor: Uncut" which has a yellow cover. According to another site, there's a 43-second difference between the two discs, with includes a card that precedes the film saying that this version is uncut.

Re: Target deals

Target.com:

Captain Marvel [Blu-ray] $10
Avengers Endgame [Blu-ray] $10

Both eligible for the Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale. I ordered on Wednesday for in-store pickup. Both still in stock today at the store nearest me. I had been looking for a good price for Captain Marvel for over a year. Around $7, including sales tax, is better than I was expecting for Disney/Marvel titles.

Re: Target deals

The Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale here and at Amazon had some great deals.
Especially when combined with some movies that went on sale during the deal.
Bought a little more than planned ,but the price was right on a lot of newer releases.

I'll be glad when it all over. Getting tired of watching Amazon when I have time and awake.

B2G1 again, today only. And it stacks with the Target Circle 10% off if you didn't use that yet.

joltman 12-05-20 07:53 AM

Re: Target deals

They also have 10% off gift cards, so if you buy a gift card first to use to buy the movies, the savings really add up

Wow ... 10% off gift cards, 10% off purchase, and B2G1 ... damnit. I was trying not to spend money. I can't really think of anything I "need" right now, but you have me really considering buying some books for my classroom though!

Re: Target deals

I remember when my local Target had 3 aisles of DVD/Blu-ray. Last time I was there, they were down to ONE HALF. And there was an entire Star Wars section, and one rack (out of 5-6?) was all superhero movies. That's some slim pickins. I wouldn't be surprised if the rumors are true that they're getting out of media.

joltman 12-05-20 03:47 PM

Re: Target deals

I definitely spent too much money on movies already the last month, but had to take advantage of these savings. B2G1 (if all three are the same price) + 10% off + 10% off gift card comes to 46% off! And I used PayPal to get the gift card, which I currently get 5% back on my Chase Freedom Flex card, so it's like I didn't miss out on the Red Card savings.

Better Call Saul Season 5 finally qualifies, and is priced in line with many Criterions.

Don't look now, but I can tell that Target's website is actively carrying fewer and fewer media titles. Their search conveniently hides anything that is "sold out" and not in stock.

Not that it couldn't still be true that they are moving away from media even online, but the issue with sold out stock not showing up has been the case for quite a while now.
If there is something you want that isn't showing up in a search, you need to to a google search for the title + Target to the product page and then click on the "notify me when it's back in stock" button to initiate a re-stocking, which can take anywhere from mere hours to several weeks.

Another good trick is that once it does come back in stock, add it to your cart and then once it's in the cart hit "save for later". That way you will always be able to keep on top of it's availability in advance of the next sale, by moving it back to the cart. It's it's gone out-of-stock again, just hit the "notify me" tab again. But once it's in you "save for later" section, the product page will always be accessible, in stock or not.

If any of that makes any sense.

Re: Target deals

The problem with "Save for later" is the max size for that area is 50 items. I realize that's a lot for many people but it barely scratches the surface for items I want to keep track of on Target. My current one has 49 items consisting of movies, board games, and grocery items. Around Christmas I'd use it for even more - video games, toys, household appliances - if it could hold more or if they offered a non-size-limited wish list option.

They do have an actual Wishlist -- use the Heart button on the page. Easy, though it's a one wishlist and no way to filter or subdivide it further that I've found unlike BBY, Amazon, BN, etc. I have 100 items or more there most of the time with 24 items per page and it seems I've had 7-8 pages so I don't know if there;s an upper limit. After 4-5 pages I find it unwieldy
Get back to the Wishlist directly by using the Heart Button in the upper right corner.

Well... how 'bout that!? I've *never* noticed those little hearts before and if I had likely wouldn't have bothered with them since it's not clear just what they are for. Thanks! That'll help quite a lot. You'd think they'd make it more obvious. I can see it becoming unwieldy but it's a bit better than "saved for later" so...

Re: Target deals

I wasn't aware of that either.

I've gotten a lot of mileage out of these sales in the past, but I don't think I've ever come close to maxing out the 'save for later' spots.
Doubt I ever will, as I'm having to throttle back hard on my purchases from here on out.
