There's no way I know of unless you join Prime, or the deals overlap.

I buy things from several categories and always have over 1,000 books, video games, etc. in my various wish lists, so I can always make $35 minimum shipping if I need to.

Or start buying more graphic novels, calendars, household goods etc. from Amazon.

I hold off buying anything in October or November from Amazon. Then, when they have these killer lightning deals -- I have a bunch of stuff in a backlog to add. I have a whole list of items I need waiting for a deal to trigger them. Doesn't have to be movies... there's tons of free shipping used books, vet meds, water filters, and all manner of odds and ends that Amazon has the excellent everyday pricing on. I remain too cheap to pay for Prime.

Dang! I got up early for nothing. I could swear that, at least twice yesterday, I saw the Island of Lost Souls Blu listed as a LD for 7:20 am.

Did anyone else see it listed, or did I just imagine it... or misinterpret something? Has Amazon ever listed something as an LD, then pulled it? I could see it happening, but never actually noticed if it did.

It was pulled from the Lightning Deals page; it was never on the Deals calendar to begin with.

Re: Amazon Countdown to BF Week - Lightning Deals Calendar

BTW, and sorry to hijack the thread a bit, but can anyone tell me how Amazon Pre-Orders work? There's two John Wayne titles that won't be released until March and the pre-order prices are good. I'm also looking at The Wolverine 3D.

In all the time I've ordered from Amazon, I've never pre-ordered anything. Are the currently listed pre-order prices the most you'll pay... even if the price goes up before release? In other words, a price lock in. One would assume so, as I can't see the point of pre-ordering if not. However, their pre-order FAQ doesn't explicitly state this in plain english.

Also, do they charge our CC as soon as you place the order, or do they wait until it's released? Again, the FAQ isn't explicit about this, although I will admit I could have simply missed it. I'm not keen on having my card charged now for something I won't see for months.

I saw Island of Lost Souls as a lightning deal as well. Already have it though. Strange.

Pre-ordering locks in the price and they do not charge your credit card until the item ships. If the price of the item goes lower then you will also get the lowest price.

So Django is the first bluray deal that is pretty much sold out 15 minutes into the deal. Nice.

Re: Amazon Countdown to BF Week - Lightning Deals Calendar

Great. I was hoping to get it for less than $10 and didn't even know it was an LD. If I didn't manage to get Battlefield 4 Deluxe for $25 from Origin a while ago, this would be a total washout of a day for me shopping wise.

OMFG!!! I missed $6 Warm Bodies BD, too?!?!? DAMMIT!!! I am epically failing at shopping today!

How did you not know it was an LD? It was listed on the first page of this thread.

I know that everyone isn't going to camp in front of their internet device 24/7, but c'mon with the sob stories about stuff that was not only scheduled by Amazon, but listed and discussed on this thread.

Unfortunately, my wife and I have both used our Prime trials and we came to a mutual decision that because of the few purchases we make from Amazon throughout the year, we really can't justify the $79/year expense. I wish they'd lower the cost of their Prime membership to B&N Membership prices or thereabouts, I'd join up in a heartbeat.

Regarding these lightning deals, I've only seen one that I'd really like to buy (Pacific Rim for $6, which price-matches Target's BF price on it for a whole 15 minutes) but it's not up till about 1:30am EST and I'm not staying up that late to save $1.99. Other than that, these lightning deals have been kind of lame as far as I'm concerned.

I just went ahead and bought what BF BDs I wanted, not waiting until 1:30am to save $1.99...

Re: Amazon Countdown to BF Week - Lightning Deals Calendar

Didn't really want any of the LD stuff, but found some low prices for stuff I've been waiting for all year: Life of Pi 3D for $18, and Cloud Atlas for $13. I think that's the lowest I've seen them so far. They'll probably be lower next year, but I wanted them for this holiday season.

Re: Amazon Countdown to BF Week - Lightning Deals Calendar

Yes or no on will this work? If I have 2 separate windows open will I be able to click on 2 lightning deals? I just don't want to run the risk of clicking on one and then getting back to the deals page to see the other already claimed. Any experience with this, thx. And assume that once I refresh my cart in one of the pages that both items will then be there of course.

That should work, though most of the LDs haven't been instant sell outs. Then again, I don't know what stuff you're looking to buy.
