Re: Best Buy Upgrade and Save 7/14 - 8/10
I'll post this here since this is a recent thread.
Point 1. Even after reducing their space allotted to media, I'm surprised at how little stock they have and how many open spaces there are on the shelves.
Point 2. I went in thinking I might pick up Olympus Has Fallen for the weekend. After seeing a crapload of movies in a $4.99 promotional bin, many titles "I had to have" right away yet maybe have watched once, I decided to wait until the price dropped.
Point 3. Those same $4.99 movies were $9.99 last week and during the U&S.

Even staying within my new rules (don't buy it if you're not going to keep it), I bought a crapload with the fervor of the bluray convert I am. Hope BB does this at least one more time.

I didn't see any of your point 3 movies in my stores during the U&S or I would have bought 4 of them (which I did this week). Out of the stores in Austin, I've got 3 that have a decent selection, 1 of those with still a pretty large DVD area.

I actually looked this up last week, and here are the dates from this year and last:
1/8/2012 - 1/28/2012 - 3 Weeks Long
4/22/2012 - 5/12/2012 - 3 Weeks Long
7/15/2012 - 8/11/2012 - 4 Weeks Long
10/7/2012 - 10/20/2012 - 2 Weeks Long
1/13/2013 - 2/2/2013 - 3 Weeks Long
4/21/2013 - 5/11/2013 - 3 Weeks Long
7/14/2013 - 8/10/2013 - 4 Weeks Long
Based on this I expect to see the next sale to be 10/6/2013 - 10/19/2013 unless they decide to extend it until 10/26/2013
If this is for two weeks, the new movies that come out during the sale are Hangover III and After Earth the first week, and surprisingly nothing major the next week. This will be soon after the release of Little Mermaid, The Croods, This is the End, Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary, Iron Man 3, World War Z, and Star Trek:Into the Darkness.
Lastly, if they were to do the next one for 3 weeks instead of 2 weeks - it would include Man of Steel, which is rumored to be announced for 10/22/2013.

Anyone heard anything yet on the next Upgrade and Save, would love to pick up the Ace Ventura Blu's and Weird Science on 10/15.

Since they've been mixing the DVDs with the blu-rays, compounded by all of the empty shelf space, it's really hard to tell how many blu-rays they actually have.

They have some new $9.99 titles in the savestation I'd like to get. But overall, I can't imagine buying many in the next round, since their inventory is so small now.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I just moved from California to Ohio and my regular Best Buys in both places still have very decent BD selections.

The BBs around me have all been reducing their media sections, some more than others. As for the mixing of Blurays and DVDs, I don't have a major issue with that, since that's how I have my collection at home. But then I also have it in alphabetical order, not separated by odd genre classifications. That's what annoys me more, trying to figure out if something is action/scifi or scifi/action.

But are there tears or females heavily present? Then it's a drama LOL
Seriously, it's BS though. I segregate my blu-rays and dvds and then do the alphabetizing thing, its just easiest. Instead some marketing guy feels the need to do it in that asinine way. Heck, most BB's I go to, I'm not sure what the order is really since there are Endcaps, Frontcaps and Every Which Way but Loose caps.

When I went looking for Winnie the Pooh BD it took me 15 minutes only to find just the DVD version. I asked the counter lady to look it up - so I at least know if they have it ( showed it to her on my phone / walmart website with SKU number ) - she said she has no way to look it up and said just to go to the isle and find "at your own risk" !!! Not sure she knew how to use that last phrase

Target is equally bad - they have way too many categories - example: Drama, Comedy, Sci-Fi, TV under 10$, TV over $10, New Releases, Family, Children, etc.
The worst are those "over $ / under $" categories - yes, I care how much it costs, but I want to be able to find the damn thing first.

Sounds about right. I got a Best Buy GC for Christmas and just wondered if I should hang onto it for U&S. I'll go ahead and spend it if I see something I like for a decent price.
On a related note, what did Best Buy DO with all of those upgraded DVDs anyway?
