Both sets are shit. Aspect ratios changed for at least 3 of the 'Yards' set films, and all four of the Chan films are not even 1.85 (cut from 2.35 in most cases), but 1.78. Sound, too, is shit, beyond just being dubbed. Garbage even for tha casual fan.

Bought these today:

House of Cards Trilogy $14.99
Winter in Wartime $4.99
POTC: The Curse of the Black Pearl $4.99
Another Year $4.99

The bad news is that they gave me back my coupons and I'm tempted to buy some more.

Half the time, I get the feeling that those scrutinizing employees are just doing it for show. I don't think they know what they're supposed to be looking for or even care. They're just flipping the discs around to make it look like they're doing something.

You got lucky. I called the 800 number today and complained about the fact that they would not accept the coupon. They backed up the store who said it was not a legit coupon (I used the link on this site).
I asked them if they thought coupons.com was a legit site. He replied that the "coupon can not be verified"... whatever the hell that means.
I continued to argue and he backed up to the double dip argument. When I pointed out that a manufacturer's coupon is a form of payment according to their payment options page he just dug in and refused again. He had made up his mind and was absolutely determined to reject the coupon. I could not make the moron see reason. At that point I realized it was useless and hung up.
It looks to me like that 800 number is a complete waste of time. The idiots there don't even understand BB published corporate policy and just make up their own rules.

[confession] I've slipped an occasional 'other region' DVD and they haven't said a word.

the clueless ditz over at the consumer service desk at the Tenleytown DC store today told me the U&S deal had already ended - headed back over to Tysons tomorrow since they still have a somewhat better selection.

I've also used a few DVDs from other regions that I had either since updated to region 1 or was using to upgrade to the Blu version.

^ I had thought that was a no-no, maybe I'm wrong. but who cares, when it's pretty well known that Best Buy just chucks the discs anyways. I would feel bad though if they WERE giving these discs to schools, camps, libraries, etc.

I just thought when the first U&S came out Best Buy issued a press release and on the list was the mention of Region 1 only DVD's - but I could be wrong.

Last time I traded in a couple of disc 2 special feature discs with a copy of the cover art and all they did was double check that it was a real disc. No care about the title

So far I have traded in both region 2/9 DVD's and 3 DVD's that I had repackaged into thin packs. Thought they might reject the thin packs because they were obviously not the original case, but they took them, no problem.

Bastards gave me back my coupons again after I used them one last time today. Went to a different store near work. I actually got these back earlier in the week.

Throwing them in the trash before I get tempted to spend more.

I think they always return the coupons to encourage you to keep spending during he final week.

Ha, I have never had that whole giving coupon back thing until today, one day before the bloody sale ends. I threw mine in the trash too, I've spent quite enough and I know I'm not going to find Swamp Thing or Fog at any of my stores, so there is no point trying.

But I did pick up Mud today, and a special thanks to those who helped with the whole coupon thing. $11.06 out the door. Actually the girl knew about the policy so I didn't have to do anything special. Heck, she was cute too, I really need to stop finishing other people's sentences though, that's a bad habit of mine.

You could have left the coupons on a BD shelf. Who knows? You might have been able to help a fellow DVDTalker spend more money.

I wish I had that problem. I've only gotten to reuse the coupons once in the six U&S's I've taken part in.

I forgot to go back yesterday. I probably would have found a few more things to get. But it's probably best that I didn't. As usual, I bought too much...

Easily the best U&S to date. And the first time I had no problems getting a manufacturer's coupon combined with an U&S coupon.

Only complaints were a) Flight being rejected for $4.99 and b) Baraka, Samsara, The Daimajin Triple Feature and Cave of Forgotten Dreams not being in-stock.
