I always go on eBay between these upgrade and saves and buy a couple really cheap lots of whatever DVD. Got quite a few right now ready to go.

While that has happened, it has also happened that sales that were marked to end right before U&S extended into it. I really don't think BB is being sneaky about it, trying to deceive us. There are just too many great deals during these things to think that.

I'm sure I will buy a bunch, but hopefully not over 10-15. I have over 50 DVDs I picked up for around .10 each to trade in, so I'm set. Right now I can't think of anything but Barbarella, and that will be so I can return the Target one I got for 7.50.

I do have a few universal 100 coupons that expire on the 16th, so I will get what I can there.

yes, I've been down this road too and I guess we'll see what happens. The only thing that may affect my decisions is BF-burnout. But probably not by much.

At least this thread is reasonable. The one at blu-ray.com is over 33 pages long and I've only seen 2 informative posts. so here's is a duplicate of one of those posts.

Saw some other stuff at my store that, according the sale labels, will be $9.99 through at least the first week:

Restrepo
Barbarella
I Saw the Devil (supposedly not sold in stores, but...)
American History X/A History of Violence
The $9.99 Warner triple packs
The $9.99 titles in the CinemaNow display (Casino, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Scarface, Animal House, Coraline, Apollo 13)
Casino Royale (combo)
The Princess Bride (25th anniversary)
The Lincoln Lawyer
The Town (extended cut)

And these won't be on sale when the promo starts:

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
All 3D titles currently on sale for $14.99
The BB-exclusive steelbooks
The Woman in Black
Tommy

Hmmm, I spent too much money during November/December so I'm kind of meh on this.

Although, I still have quite a few DVDs that I wouldn't mind getting rid of. Pretty much all of them were recently upgraded to BD. I guess it just depends on what is on sale during that time frame.

I guess I wouldn't mind getting End of Watch, Death Race 3, and Universal Soldier if I can get them for $15 or less.

I like these sales but I always have more crap to trade in than good titles I feel like adding so I end up with more shitty rom-coms or dupes of HD DVD's. For $5 I wouldn't mind getting a 3 pack even if I had one of the titles.

And yes my BB did the rearranging as well. All mixed together. Get all excited seeing a title then realizing it's only on DVD.

If BB has some items that work out to $4.99 after the coupon, that I really covet, then maybe I'll partake. But right now I'm totally set, with all the stuff I bought through the holiday season.

I was interested in picking up both Batman steel books, but not if their prices are going back up.

I'm sure ill find a title to buy (either the deals/titles available stink or I have. Or the prices are still beatable by Amazon)

Any guesses if the Dredd 3D $19.99 price from this week will carry over until this starts? I'm not holding my breath, but it would be nice.

Love some triple packs from Warner for $5! I have a nice stack of DVD crap ready to go.

The Warner 3 packs are individual discs. You can always sell off the dupe disc (or your blu-ray copy with case). It's what I've been doing. Saves a lot of space.

Hoping to pick up Hannah and Her Sisters and Sleeper for cheap (or cheapest possible).

I've never heard of this and it almost seems too good to be true. I will most likely be taking advantage of this when the time comes.

Don;t hold me to this exact list, but it should be a pretty good starting point. The last time I saw the display
in store I remember a number of these groups being included.

Thanks....damn, at this rate, I shouldn't be buying any singles...in almost every case, I have at least one of the triples included as a standalone title (I don't care for special features on a separate disc)...that's a lotta bang for the $5 buck

Thanks for posting this as I'll have to check out which ones the local bestbuy's have. The online search did nothing as most of the 3 packs came up as unavailable or not sold in stores.

Mr. Cinema also posted this on bluray.com

PROMO ENDS 3/2/13

The store I visited had the sale tags up, but not all titles were out yet. There looked to be about 16 spots and all of them were $9.99 each. I think the tags mentioned the sale ending sometime next month, so these will make for some excellent Upgrade and Save choices. Here's the titles or shelf tags I remember seeing:

Ben Hur
Network
The Blind Side
Happy Feet
Amadeus (non-book version)
Casablanca: 70th Anniversary single disc
Training Day (this is ticketed $7.99)
Unforgiven (non-book version)
Dog Day Afternoon
The Aviator
L.A. Confidential
Goodfellas
North by Northwest (probably non-book version)
The Dark Knight
Inception
The Matrix (non-book version)
Of that list (assuming it's available) I'll probably pick up L.A. Confidential, Network, North by Northwest, and maybe Dog Day Afternoon and Unforgiven and Ben Hur.

Also there is a $3 off coupon that is printable for Arbitrage, so if that ever drops lower (currently at $16.99) the coupon can be combined for a total savings of $8.

Have a ton of old DVDs that I've since upgraded to Blu-ray just waiting to be traded in. Now, if only I didn't own nearly all the $9.99 titles ($4.99 after coupon) worth owning.

Does any one know if the 3 packs BD are the same of single pack you normaily buy - I meant are they bare bone just movie with extras missing.

( I think when I bought Black Friday BD from walmart for $5 a couple of them seem not to mention extras on the back - like the single I had bought from somewhere else about a year ago - I have not actually watched each of these BD to compare)

rexinnih 01-09-13 11:15 AM

Re: Upgrade and Save coming back! 1/13 - 2/2

The 3 packs I have picked up have the same first disc as the regular editions. The only difference would be if there was a second disc of extras, etc. This would not be included.

I hope the HONDO/GRIT/ONCE UPON A TIME triple will be there. That and the Kubrick are the only sure buys for me.

If there are things I want that are not available in store, could I order them off the website, and then return them to the store to re-buy using the U&S?

Officially YMMV, but you should be able to. I've done it twice without issue. But I suppose some stores could find an excuse to refuse to do it...

I only just started buying Blu-rays at the end of last year so it wouldn't have mattered but I'm surprised I'd never even heard of this.

Make sure that any BD you buy for return/rebuy has a 7-digit SKU and not an 8-digit SKU. You may be able to do the return/rebuy with an 8-digit SKU (I think I read it somewhere on blu-ray.com), but it is a MAJOR hassle. Better to stick with 7-digit SKU's.

I would recommend going on Sunday. The titles get pretty slim at times. Mine doesn't replenish at all during the sale so I've ended up with stuff I wouldn't normally buy but had to use up a coupon

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll make sure to do that.
