Pretty sure this is what I saw at Costco for $299.99. They were on a separate table with gift books and the like, so I didn't look too closely. And who knows, maybe it's got an instant rebate on it, too.:)

How wide is the Costco price matching window for previous purchases? I bought Lawrence soon after its release, about a month ago.

Well, their return policy is, like, forever, so you shouldn't have any problems price matching. Otherwise, you could just buy the set at the new low price, and then return it with your original receipt.

Costco will do a price adjustment if it's within 30 days of purchase. Otherwise, you can return and re-buy it at the lower price. (Of course, if the item is no longer carried, the return and re-buy may not work.) I did the return and re-buy thing for the Marilyn Monroe set since I bought it six weeks ago (well, re-bought then walked to the Returns counter to return it with the old receipt).

Costco's return policy is many things, but forever it isn't. Even when I bought stuff back during their "forever" policy that they kept touting to me, I didn't return anything before the policy change (in 2008?) because I didn't hear about it in time. I remember reading that prior purchases would be grandfathered, but the few times I tried to return something significant (more than $50) after the policy change they effectively told me to "dream on". It didn't matter that I had bought under the prior policy. On top of that you have to retain a current Costco membership to return anything. So I consider Costco a store that doesn't honor their own prior policies and can't be trusted.

Needless to say I haven't been a member for more years than I can remember. As far as I'm concerned Costco's return policy is as effectively as limited as anyone else's... even worse when an expensive membership is required. I don't know what the official return time limit is, but it exists and is definitely not forever. At least with Sam's Club you know it's 1 month or 6 months and they'll honor it. With Costco they have a track record of changing their minds and not honoring the prior policy. Just my opinions.

You have the worst luck. I returned a plasma TV that was grandfathered just last year and had no trouble whatsoever.

I just returned a rice cooker I bought in 2007 no questions asked. Never had a problem with returns at my local store. I had a pair of eyeglass frames that started getting spotty after a year and they popped my lenses into a new pair of the same frame gratis. The only thing they have restrictions on are the TVs, computers, cameras and the like, and those are spelled out very clearly. I bought an HDTV and three months later they had it on special for $400 less and they refunded me the difference without any issue. That's my experience at my local store.

Yeah, that's the company policy. You'll occasionally get someone working there that tries to do things there way but all you have to do is point to the policy board they have behind them and/or ask for a supervisor.

I had one experience like this where I heard the guy saying, "In a case like this, here's what I do". When he tried to tell me that, I got to explain to him that that may be his policy but we're at Costco and we're going by the policy they say. I don't normally act like a dick like that but when they say they're going to do things their way and not the store's way, I'm not going to go along with that.

Yes, I have bad luck sometimes. Maybe later I'll post what happened about my denied returns several years ago. For now I have a question:

I'm not a Costco member of course, but I'd like to get the Twilight Zone Blu-Ray set for $120. I got a Costco cash card and I was told it allows you to buy stuff without a penalty or fee without a membership. You can pay the remainder in cash. If I use a Costco cash card as a non-member, will I be able to get Twilight Zone for $120? In other words, is $120 the normal in store price right now or is it a special members only discount on top of the normal price?

You have to have a Costco membership to shop there or go with someone who is a member.

Costco cash cards can be used by members and non-members.

You only have to be a member to buy or reload the card.

Andicus is right (otherwise I wouldn't even attempt to go). I only recently found out about this loophole too. My question still remains:

Is the $120 price on The Twilight Zone Blu-Ray set the current normal price for anyone buying at Costco or is it a special discount on top of the normal price?

Though nobody said so, this thread gave me the impression that this might not be the normal price but some special discount. While I'm confident the Costco Cash Card lets you get normal Costco prices, I'm not sure about "special" Costco prices... hence my question before I go.

You either got a rogue employee or you're confusing some details. When the return policy changed, it just limited specific electronics to 90-day returns for refund. All other items continued to be returnable for refund no matter when they were purchased. A specific price point has never been part of the return policy as you're suggesting. I've returned a $100 item that was purchased three years prior for a full refund with no problem at all. The return policy is very clearly stated and if it wasn't honored as stated, then the customer service rep you dealt with was wrong.

While I don't doubt you may have had an isolated bad experience, what you've decided about Costco is simply not true, nor is it consistent with the overwhelming majority of members who renew every year. There's a reason they have the lowest membership turnover among warehouse stores and the lowest employee turnover in retail. And no, I don't work for Costco. I'm just a fan.

The $120 price rings up when the item is scanned at check out. The thing is they scan your membership card at check out before they scan the items you are buying. If it is true that you can enter a store and use a gift card to buy at Costco without a membership card , then you should be able to buy the blu ray.
I thought gift cards without membership were only good at Costco.com but I certainly could be incorrect. On the other hand I recall people asking for items to be scanned prior to purchase because they had been told on these boards that there was an instant discount and there were no signs in their store. The items scanned did not show the discount. It turned out you had to buy the item in order for the discount to show up. Whether this was because a membership card wasn't scanned first, I have no idea.

If it is the case that you didn't get the discount without a membership card, you could probably get someone in line to scan theirs for you. As long as you are paying, it shouldn't matter.

Actually, shouldn't the card be associated with the member that purchased it?

I guess the best idea would be to call the store and ask about it.

The best idea is to buy a damn membership if you want the deals that members get.

If you aren't on the card or with the card holder they will call you out on it and tell you too bad.

I've seen it.
