Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
Has there been any rumors about Scream Factory doing another big Halloween sale like last year?

NINJA III: THE DOMINATION - $11.49 NIGHT OF THE COMET - $15.99 PRINCE OF DARKNESS - $15.99 THE FOG - $15.99 FROM BEYOND - $15.99 The prices on VAMPIRE LOVERS, MELTING MAN and DARK ANGEL are definitely pluses for those films. Frankly, though, Shout does such a good job with these that — barring the HOLLOW MOUNTAIN / NEANDERTHAL set — they're all excellent treatments of (mostly) key cult titles.

Not the deluxe set it should be noted. I believe that has 10 discs. Deluxe has 15.

Is there a big difference between this one and the other version? The set [15-disc] includes the NEVER BEFORE RELEASED producers cut of Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers as well as the ultra-rare network TV version of the original Halloween, the network TV version of Halloween II, plus the unrated versions of Rob Zombie’s Halloween and Halloween II. It is packed with hours of BRAND NEW bonus features including new interviews with cast and crew from the entire franchise! In response to years of fan feedback, the first Halloween will now also include the original mono audio track and the set will include both versions of the original Halloween-the original Blu-ray™ release and the recently remastered 35th Anniversary version with the mono track added back in! It also comes with a limited edition 40-page book written by Michael Gingold of Fangoria Magazine. The collectible packaging will include a newly commissioned illustration on the outer case and each film will be in its own black Blu-ray™ case with the original theatrical one sheet as the key art The 10-disc Edition includes the original theatrical versions of the Halloween films and will include select bonus features. Amazon showing $101.65 for the limited deluxe edition. |
Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
Yeah the Producer's Cut of Halloween 6 is kind of a big draw for the Deluxe edition.
I'm guessing the regular edition is a slow seller and they are cutting the price to move them. Some people probably aren't aware that set is 5 discs lighter and missing the Producer's Cut. |
Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
Ah, I guess I'll wait a bit longer for the limited edition then. Thanks for the info wishbone.

From the DVD Talk review: Shout! Factory have done a fine job bringing the movie to Blu-ray, even if it is the slightly tamer American theatrical cut, offering it up in decent shape and with a solid array of supplements too. Recommended.

One issue I have with the Warner/New Line catalog titles is that so many of them inevitably end up recycled into space-saving triple-feature sets. If you're lucky, you'll get three "good ones" (subjectively speaking, obviously) in a single package for maybe $10-12. On the other hand, you may get two good ones and a lesser dog the studio just wants to move excess stock on. Regardless, both of these seem like prime candidates for inclusion in three-packs, which has made me hesitate through multiple price drops. these movies that go on sale. But I like those triple feature packs for price and space saving. And I agree some include dogs I see now most of them I own are from Warner/New Line, and most that I own I paid around $10. Just pick up the Blade triple pack from Walmart for under $10.And they had A bunch more, that I need to look over when I have more time to shop. Thanks for posting.

What's with the weird releases with Masters Of Horror on BD? Why not just release them all in one set?

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
Masters of Horror came out years and years ago, when the BDA was paying Starz/Anchor Bay to produce as many BDs as they could in the fight against HD DVD. They never did anything beyond those individual volumes.

I have seen a Blade 3 and 4 pack on DVD but not on BD yet. |
Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
It's on BD, I think it might be a Walmart exclusive for now, I don't think I've seen it anywhere else.
