Also a few interesting dvd's: Doctor Who (series nine, parts one and two shrink-wrapped together), The Brothers Warner docu, The Practice (final season), The Theatre of Mr & Mrs Kabal (1967 french animated, Olive release)

Has anyone seen any 4K discs at DT? I doubt it but you never know.

A few reports on the other forum have mentioned the odd 4K showing up.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Another shipment of media may be circulating this weekend at some Dollar Trees according to reports. Nothing too exciting has been reported as of yet.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

My local store had some out. I picked up:

Angel of Mine
Gloria Bell
Little Monsters
Night Hunter

They were all Canadian releases (VVS Films), for what it's worth.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Voodoo Apocalypse (EchoBridge)
Adrift (VVS films)
Welcome Home (VVS Films)
The Debt Collector (VVS Films)

All of the VVS films titles came with sparkling slips sporting Walmart Canada stickers. The last two titles don't even have a US BD release. Expect them to be offered by Hamilton next round

Came across Blu-rays for Left Behind and Crossing Over. Few other BDs from what I could gather other than the usual Echo Bridge dreck.

    • Hotel Mumbai
    • Radio Days (Woody Allen)
    • New York, New York (Liza & Deniro)
    • Charlie Bartlett (Anton Yelchin) I think they have carried this one before.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

I was able to make it to one DT yesterday just before closing time. They had their selection up front in the item of the week area. All their movies were still in the boxes they arrived in, which made things easier, yet trickier to look through as the boxes were stacked on top of one another. Here's my pick ups....

BD
Winchester
Angel of Mine
Deadheading
Going in Style
Ninja I/II combo
Steven Seagal 4 pack

DVD

Ouija Room

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Also this is the first time I have not seen DVDs without UPC stickers on the back.
The UPC numbers were the same a bunch of the MGM releases. Anyone know why? Made for bargain bins only?

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Dollar Tree evidently made a deal with MGM, Questar, Viva and others to make them product. The MGM ones are cheapened over their regular product with cheaper media, no menus or and features and no specs listed.. The overstock studio product is probably running out and they found DVD was a top seller.

Those are internal $ Tree UPC's specifying the batch. Big Lots does the same.

Hard to believe those Blu-ray releasing copanies would bother making cheap, inferior releases of their normal releases just for Dollar Tree. Seems like it just wouldn't be woth it for them. They've got so much overstock anyway, which Dollar Tree apparently buys out at pennies on the dollar anyway. Talk about cheap, throwaway product. Probably none of those castrated Blu-rays are BD-50s, either, so you get crappy picture quality to go along with garbage packaging for your $1. Hard to believe anyone would *buy* these shitty versions, either!

I saw some of these yesterday. The MGM logo is different, the "g" is in a lower-case script font and descends below the rest. The one I remember is "New York, New York" with Liza Minelli and Robert DeNiro, which I almost bought just because I have never seen it. I think that's the target audience for these essentially disposable discs. I decided to see if it was free on Prime first. They had a bunch of them, so I can always go back for it. I think it was a DVD, not a Blu-ray. I did get a DVD of "The Alpha Test" which earned a whopping 3.3 out of 10 on IMDB. It will make good Halloween fodder. There were lots of Questar titles too.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Yesterday, I picked up Radio Days and I notice it has a lower case 'g' in the MGM logo. What a shame on Dollar Tree.
