I placed a single order using that 30% off code and got Heaven's gate for $19 shipped, with sales tax. I'm sure I could go back in there and use it multiple times.

Did not make it out to B&N like I had hoped this week, so I went ahead and order Charade online today w/ the 30% off code.
There were a couple more titles I wanted, but I will just get them during the next sale.

I'm talking about my local store. It lost its lease and is closing just like my local Borders did. Looks like I'll be using Amazon from now on.
I got the news from the Reston news blog. I have no info on the health of B&N as a corporation.
No need to be unpleasant.

It may not have anything to do with the store's sales. We lost a store here that was doing very well. I was on very good terms with a few of the employees and they told me the lease was up and the landlord was going to raise the rent at too high a percentage and B&N wasn't pleased. Because they had a few other stores in the area they just closed that store. B&N's plan is to focus on the Nook which means smaller stores with little or zero media. They don't care if movie and music sales are good; the margins on the Nook and accessories are much higher.

Are we going to get another one of these sales in 2013?
On a somewhat related note, I noticed that the company is going to be closing down a bunch of stores.

For the last few years, B&N's Criterion sales have occurred reliably in July and November. But as always, the real answer is Who Knows? My local store is closing at the end of next month, so it's either heading to Arlington or Fairfax or sticking to online ordering for me, if there is a sale. I seriously need to own the entire April slate.

I looked at several articles and didn't see any specific list of stores getting closed. However it appears the plan is to close one third of its stores, or 20 stores a year over the next 10 years.

Oh, craaaap. Hard to believe following the demise of Borders. I would have thought they'd be dominating the market being the only game in town.
