No go on the $3 coupon at the Queens Blvd Target this morning for the steelbook. Their checkout would not accept it, & the manager said that it was invalid for this purchase.
Had gotten there 2 minutes after it opened. Was only 4 steelbooks on the rack. Then when while I was trying to checkout, some guy came up with the remaining steelbooks!!
Good luck to those trying to buy this.

So I'm clearly not the only one whose Target's new release inventory sucks. Fortunately I plan to buy ET w/o steelbook at BB using U&S and we'll see if they accept the Uni coupon. Since I'm going to a more distant BB at least I have a small shot at not being told "sorry, we can't accept manufacturers coupons on a sale item with a U&S promo because the coupon says "cannot be combined with other offers" and the sale price and U&S promo are both offers". Telling them that a manufacturer's coupon is supposed to be the same as cash goes in one ear and out the other.

Got to my store at 8:15, and there were 2 steelbooks left. Both were spider-wrapped. One was so tight it looks like the steelbook was indented. The other was fairly loose, so I got that one. I HATE those spider-wraps!!! Was debating the BB digibook over this, but I save $2 and don't have to trade anything in. I'm not a completest on either, thankfully, but I have many of both...

Got to Target when they opened (not intending to get the ET steelbook mind you, I'm going with the Best Buy booklet), but they didn't have any of the Steelbooks.

my store had about 10 of the E.T. Steelbook at 8:30. 6 were in the back in the new release area and the rest were up front by the registers in a small display.

Stopped in about an hour after my Target opened. There were more than a dozen ET's on the Children's/Disney endcap in electronics. Thankfully, no spider wrap. Didn't check up by the lanes. Cashier accepted the Universal coupon, so good trip for me.

Between ET and the Prometheus 4 disc exclusives I had a hell of a time finding products that Target employees didn't destroy. Between the spider things and cases that were too small for the Prometheus set, everything was damaged in one way or another at 3 different stores! I ended up finding a good ET and a Prometheus that was only a little squeezed from a stupid plastic case. The rest were spider wrapped so bad they cut right in to all 4 sides.
They've been having nice exclusive packaging lately, and then they destroy all of it! What a joke!

Anyone find the 3D Prometheus WITH Target exclusive? Between me and my friends, we hit 8 different stores, some at opening, and NONE had the 3D Exclusive. Plenty of the 2-disc exclusives though...

I noticed that they had these packaged like the Snow White/Huntsman exclusive(book/movie slid inside hardcover slipcover).

Local target at 6PM last night...about 5 E.T. Steelbooks left , 2 in spider, 3 in hard plastic. Ironically the spider copies were fine but the plastic looked like some dent spots where they sealed it closed. No issues with the coupon as it scanned through.

I stopped by Target after work, still several steelbooks left. I didn't count them, but it had to be at least 6 deep on the rack. Univeral Coupon came up on the screen as no valid items in order, but she looked at the coupon, looked at the movie and said "Yep, Anniversary Limited Edition" and hit the button to accept it anyway.

Stopped at Target before work this morning and they had to pull the steelbooks from the back for me and the guy came out with a stack of 5 or 6. I took one and ended what was a longer trip than I would have liked at Target.
They accepted the Universal coupon no questions asked even though my printer is running out of ink and it was pretty faded, but probably only because of the runaround I got just to get the steelbook.

I love that the Prometheus picture book fits nice and snug in the keep case. Nice touch and I pm'd to BB so that was doubly nice.

A typical Target experience. 4 whole steelbooks for something they advertise. That's about the same as the 12 Avengers 3D with bonus discs that sold out in the first couple minutes and the last stack of them were all grabbed by the same guy. Target wants to be labeled as the "king of out of stock",
You're not alone. Those and the alarm cases that they squeeze multi-disc boxes into (thus crushing them) just gall me. ...But then You go to Best Buy and they put those damned non-removable price stickers right on the slip cases (took me half an hour to remove the sticker from my "Prometheus" last night).
OK rant over...

But at least you can use Goo Gone and get the sticker off very easily. I've been lucky I haven't had to deal with that spider wrap nonsense. You can't undent stuff wrapped with that crap.

hate the spidewraps and cases all you want. Until people stop thieving, the stores will do what it takes to protect it's merchandise.

Every time I buy a Blu @ Target, I always ask if they have any in the stock room that are unsecured/undamaged. Invariably they always say no...and if I don't find an acceptable one on the shelf, I pass. Sale lost.

I'm not one of those people. I'll walk before I buy a beat up, edge-sliced, or creased case ... and if I receive a beat up case from an online order, I'll swap it out at a B&M for a better one.

Re: Target Ad 10/07 - 10/13/12
There isn't a perfect solution. If they put the products out without the spider wraps or plastic coffins, some are going to be stolen. I was in Walmart the other day and came across three DVDs in the electronics sections that had clearly been opened and had their discs removed. If the DVDs had been in the plastic coffins, they likely wouldn't have been stolen.
On the other hand, if they damage the cases with the anti-theft devices, they're going to lose some sales. But other people won't care about minor damage and will buy the products anyway.
So, I think they see theft as a more expensive problem than losing some sales because of damage to the slip or case. And customers are constantly dropping, denting, and tearing product anyhow. How many times have you come across a damaged DVD or blu that had never been in contact with a security device?
