Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th
I'm picking up 50/50 and Margin Call for $5 each
|
Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th
Red Dawn and Saw 6 for me.
|
Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th
I was browsing through the ad and saw that they are giving a coupon for a mobile phone upgrade eligibility check again.

Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th
Not too much I see. Part of the problem is the discs I might want are not going to be on the BestBuy floor but just on their website like Name of the Rose or there is an interesting combo pack of Night Listener/Benefit of the Doubt. Of what might be there...maybe I'll pick up the original Expendables disc for $5 to put with my Extended cut and make a complete edition and then when it gets released on tuesday, the new Jeff Dunham disc (assuming it stays its intended price). Those I feel pretty confident about, but the rest not so much.

Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th
Does a series TV set with 5 discs count as 1 or 5? Do they even take series in trade?
|
Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th
If each disc has it's own case (like Seinfeld) then each disc will count as 1.

Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th
You could S L O W L Y handover each disc, and maybe you'll get 5 coupons. :D
Debating on getting Prometheus 3D--not that I want the 3D disc, but like the cover, and for a few bucks more, what the hek--there might be a few more goodies on the 4-Disc version. How was the movie, though. I haven't seen it, but reading about it, looks good. And it's about time we had an Alien prequel. Been waiting about 15 years for it! |
Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th
had a bad experience at my best buy this morning (which ultimately turned out good)...
was first in the store with a buddy - each of us had 5 to trade... arrived at 11am... clerk(s) were clueless about the promotion going on or how to do it... they tried to tell me it wasn't going on etc but I pointed to their ad as well as the signage... they got multi other clerks involved but none could find the bar code that needs to be attached to the receipt (I explained that there weren't 5 titles each of us wanted at this time - I was merely trading early so I could use the discount coupons on tuesday!)... at 11:25 they were no closer to finding it than they were when I got there so thinking I had been patient enough, I requested a manager... he comes over - tells the clerk that since they can't find the correct way to do the promotion, just "give them both $25 gift cards" since that was the total value of our 5 trades each and be done with it! so I got the gift cards! now going to wait till tuesday when hopefully they'll know what they're doing and trade 5 more in - and use the coupon in addition to my gift cards!!! ultimately a win win for me, but kinda frustrating that the stores don't know how to handle this promotion... |

so i grabbed 5 crap dvds and headed out knowing my BB never has the displays..hell they rarely have the weekly sales advertised. so I get there and grab a couple already 5$ blus (saw, blair witch) and grabb two 8$ blus (killer klowns and TCM2) only 10$ and over blues i found was Saw 6 and attack the block so on my way out to get the dvds out the car i came across the Holy Grail of blus *well the ones i was looking for and grabbed DeadGirl, Henry, and Magic were the only copies left and were in an endcap next to the horror dvds nowhere near the blus. goto customer service and was basically laughed at and told that this promotion ended a couple months ago. then when i showed them the ad they told me that they arent participating in this promotion so i asked if there was a manager i could speak to and he came up and informed me he had no idea they were running this again but asked if i could hold on a second...politely but 30 minutes go by and he comes out with a scannable coupon and the original clerk rings me up and i paid. Getting home i checked my receipt and realized that they rang up the coupon for each purchase instead of just 5 so i walked away with... Blair Witch Projects - 0.00 Saw - 0.00 Killer Klowns - 2.99 TCM2 - 2.99 Henry - 5 deadgirl - 5 Magic - 5 Saw 6 - 5 Attack the Block - 7.99 but curious while i like that i saved an additional 20$ can the cashier that rang me up get in any serious trouble for doing that? i know id have jobs in the past that when i was on cashier some we had id numbers to plug in. |
Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th
Picked up Ed Wood for $9.99 this morning. The guy at the register asked me for my phone number; first time that's happened. (No, he was not trying to pick me up lol). The girl who took my trade asked me when I bought the disc I was trading in; I told her years ago. The guy told her, "He doesn't need a receipt to trade in."
Yet another BB first. They often seem clueless on the first day of these promos. Saw the Alien Anthology on a display touting Prometheus; $24.99 for this with trade is a good deal for anyone who doesn't have it considering the literally days worth of extras it has. Also had all Aliens movies including multiple copies with slipcovers for all you slipcover fans out there. |

Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th
Anyone know if the display with Magic and Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer is a display that has not been put out at many stores or is it a case if you don't have it by now, too bad.

Ended with: Nightmare before Christmas ($14.99) Attack the Block ($7.99) Fight Club ($4.99) |
Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th
Turned in five DVDs tonight. Two of them were still sealed and unopened, and the guy made a point of opening them up "just to be sure." First time that ever happened. It seems like a bit of overkill, plus it took him FOREVER to get them open, and this was after waiting in line for ten minutes because they made me wait in the returns line instead of simply doing it at the customer pick-up desk like every other time. Then I took my coupons up to the check-out lane, and none of them worked. Luckily the guy checking me could do a manual override without calling a manager. After all that, I walked out with:
Nightmare Before Christmas-$14.99 How to Make It In America Season 2-$19.99 I Spit On Your Grave Double Feature-$4.99 Road to Perdition-$4.99 The Innkeepers-$4.99 Looked everywhere for a display or endcap with Henry and Magic, but no luck. And asking a worker seemed pointless. Regardless, very happy with the deals, especially Innkeepers. |
Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th
Made two trips today. Picked up the following for $5 a piece:
Hatchet 2 Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer Stakeland Magic House of the Devil ATM Wake Wood Total Recall: MBE Drive Angry X-Men Everything went pretty smoothly. |
Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th
Instead of giving one coupon per disc traded, they are giving one coupon and crossing off on the receipt.
Picked up: * American Werewolf in London - $5 * Evil Dead 2 - $5 * Nightmare Before Christmas - $15 Also got the Kevin Smith triple-pack for $5,normal sale price. I'll be getting Prometheus on Tuesday, selling off the 3D copy. |
Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th
After the usual first-day-of-U&S-cluelessness, the CS person just had me bring my 5 blurays to her and she took off the discount there. For $5/ea, picked up:
House of Flying Daggers Road to Perdition Evil Dead 2 Everything Must Go Red Dawn I also found one copy of The Blair Witch Project for $5 (w/o U&S). I had tried to get it online, but it went out of stock, so that was a nice surprise. |
Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th
Just a warning. Seems like Best Buy is trying to dump their "Enhanced For Widescreen" versions during these sales.

Just be aware of the aspect ratios, is all I'm saying. They may not be the original.

I see a lot of people buying Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer, recommendable?

I don't think you know what "Enhanced for Widescreen" means.
I've noticed some of these labeled "enhanced", have been cropped. Most of them are the Miramax / Echo Bridge releases. For example, my "enhanced" The Crow: City of Angels, was originally at a 1.85:1 AR, but is actually 1.78:1. I realized enhanced does not mean cropped. Maybe this is just a coincidence.

I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't remember - Will they accept other region dvds?

Might pick-up Innkeepers & Taken.

As long as it has a UPC, it should be fine. They don't actually scan them, they just look. I have successfully traded in other region DVDs during prior U&Ss.
Traded in 3 and came out with: James And The Giant Peach ($14.99) Excalibur ($4.99) Predator ($4.99) |
Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th
Picked up
Margin Call - $4.99 Miramax 6-Film Pack (Existenz, B Monkey, Albino Alligator...etc) - $4.99 I really want Innkeepers, but it is not available in any stores near me. |

Just went to Best Buy again, and they got in The Innkeepers so I am overjoyed to pick it up for $4.99.

X-Files fight the future/i want to believe double feature pack - $5 |
Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th
So during my visit, at checkout, my coupon that I didn't use from the last U&S was not taking the discount off the total. A manager had to be called in. This was my first time using a coupon held over from the previous sales event and will be my last, even if I have to buy movies I don't really want. I bought for $4.99 each:
Predator Predator 2 9 I Spit On You Grave double pack - this was a blind buy & I'm hoping I like both movies But I am at a crossroads on a certain set of movies and I'm asking for advice. I was going to purchase Nightmare on Elm Street 2 & 3 double pack when I saw a collector edition of the first 7 movies on Blu for $44.99. Here's the problem; I've never seen any of the films past #2 except for Freddy vs. Jason. After some checking, I have some options: 1) I could buy the blu's of 1, 2, 3 and F vs J for $19.97 (after two $5 U&S coupons) makes them 4.99 per disc. 2) I could buy the collector's 7- disc blu and F vs J for 46.98 (after two $5 U&S coupons) makes them $5.87 per disc. 3) I can buy 2 dvd 4-packs with all 8 movies for $17.98 (no coupons) makes them $2.25 each. I just don't know about the movies 3 - 7 and if they are worth the extra $$ on Blu. I know I like the first movie and I enjoyed the last, it's just all the ones in between that I'm concerned with. I don't mind spending more for a good series, but if several of the movies stink I could live with all of them on dvd. |
Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th
I picked up:'
Fight Club $5 Attack the Block $8 Total Recall: Mindbending Edition $5 The Innkeepers $5 Archer Season Two $13 Plus these (not part of the U&S program, just good prices) Blair Witch Project $5 The Source Code $7 Carrie $8 Other ten dollar titles I haven't seen mentioned in here yet are Kung Fu Hustle, The Craft, Space Jam. And The League Season 2 and Its Always Sunny Season 6 can both be got for $13 after coupon. |
