Amazon Germany is now starting to ship to USA as well with the same Amazon Global Priority shipping option. I had ten titles in my cart, shipping was appr 24 Euros. Added a 11th title and shipping jumped to 44 Euros, which was half the cost of the order after VAT removal. yeah, the glory days are done

I was wondering about Amazon.DE. I missed out on their last 10 Blu-rays for 50 Euros sale a month or two ago because Amazon Germany was
not shipping to the USA at that time.

My last order from Amazon.uk was around July,1 and the Postage & Packing was 24.32 for 20 movies. GBP,which I thought was kind of high.
Now it insane high.
yeah the party is over.We been spoiled for many years with some great deals from over seas, Still some sellers have good deals.

Royal Mail have seen 95% less air passenger flights as a result of Covid-191 and are having to use air freight instead
I just skimmed some of the previous posts and found this and it makes sense.it didn't occur to me that they use air passenger flights for some shipping. And both air and sea travel is way down right now.

Eureka still has free shipping. Almost sure they use Air mail.
Arrow and Zavvi both have raised shipping rates, but nothing as high as the Amazons the last time I checked.

Rarewaves is a good retailer option too. Their eBay prices include free shipping. Their site pricing is lower but does NOT include free shipping - there could be some savings on larger orders and their $ pricing is not in scalper range. Am not sure how long they can sustain these policies but it's an option that exists right now.

Why do you think most airlines charge for checked luggage now? That's cargo space they could otherwise squeeze freight into.

Re: International Blu-ray deals

I never tired to order from Ebay.uk.If Rarewaves ebay has free shipping to the states,I might check out what they have for sale. Truth is I have enough movies, and need to be more picky.
lets hope smaller company's compared to Amazon like
Rarewaves and Eureka..etc keep their low or no cost shipping to the USA..If not, it would not be the end of the world.

I never fly and do not keep up with the latest on airlines. I did not even know they started charging for luggage.
Could see some
airlines go out of business or mergers without more stimulus.Flights are way down, not sure how much it cost to fly these days..does it depend.

Yeah 95% less air passenger flights is a crazy high.

One thing for sure prices are going up on many things. :(
I knew shipping cost would go up,but kind of surprised how high it went.

And buying a few movies online and watching them makes me happy and keeps my mind off all the crazy stuff.

Eureka has raised prices to make up for the free ship, as has Grooves. Still a better deal than Amazon at this time.

The only order I have that should ship from Amazon UK by the end of the month is the Jodorowsky boxed set. Same price/same shipping rate from way before the pandemic.

I think Amazon.de shipping is back to normal now. I added a few items to my cart and was only charged like $4 or so. A week ago was like 20 EURO for shippng.

And as mentioned amazon.co.uk, is back to normal as well.

Now amazon.de needs to run that 10 BD for 50 euro promo again.

I've been ordering a ton of stuff from UK sellers to Canada lately (rather than to my US addresses), albeit via their listings on both the Amazon Canada and US marketplaces rather than from the Euro sites. On the Canadian site, several UK-based sellers are only charging the standard $3.49 CDN rate yet shipping from England (or wherever). On the USA site, if you select your Canadian address as the destination, these same sellers either charge the standard $3.99 or just a bit more, up to $4.99 tops in some cases. I've been ordering tons of stuff in the past month or two. Product prices on these titles have been comparable or better than the UK prices converted, and so far I've been hit with no customs/brokerage fees on anything, singles or multiples in boxes. Fingers crossed for the stuff still en route.

Someone ages ago mentioned Rarewaves/ZOverstocks and Chalkys having shipped products fairly quickly. I can vouch for that, and all three sell on the US and Canadian sites, and I've never paid more than $3.49CDN/$4.49US for shipping. Another is 'OxfordshireEngland' which appears to be Chalky's in disguise as all of my parcels from them list Chalkys as the sender on the packaging. Obviously there's no guarantee they'll have what you're looking for, but I've had pretty good luck with all of them lately.

Re: International Blu-ray deals

It looks like Amazon.uk is allowing standard shipping to the US again! Also read the same about Amazon.DE, but did not confirmed.

17 movies @ under £10 would work out to about $10 and change for each movie if I would place a order today using Standard Delivery.
But I'm going to pass.

Prices
£18.92 Standard Delivery (6-10 business days)
£83.98 AmazonGlobal Standard(6-9 business days)

£65.42 AmazonGlobal Priority (2-4 business days)

As I've mentioned before (this is a fact) Trump threatened to pull out of the world postal consortium unless ALL countries matched the USA's overpriced international postage. So yes, it would now be cheaper to ship from the UK to Canada, despite Royal Mai's cross the board increase.

I've had an internet biz for over 20 years & used to do a ton of international business; that is until the USPS raised the postage price of a cd to around $14 USD to the UK & around $10 to Canada. Now I do none.

This specific problem is regarding Amazon UK still not offering standard shipping. The only shipping being offered on BD sold by amazon is a staggering £19.81.

Your point remains, however, in the standard shipping charges they show now. The rate (i.e. when they standard shipping available, again) is £4.69 per shipment plus £2.99 per unit. So a single item would be £7.68. I'm pretty sure that was £3.08, previously. Although, looking at my orders, it hasn't been that way for a couple of years.

I don't remember when I placed my last Amazon.uk order, but it was 3.08 pounds for shipping.

This morning for me it was 3.08 pounds for 1 blu-ray...but as soon as I added a second one, standard shipping was no longer an option and it jumped to over 15 pounds. --Peter

Re: International Blu-ray deals

what I am finding is that the 3 vs 15 pounds for shipping is very movie specific. I can add some and get 3 pounds (+.99 for each additional movie), but some are 15 pounds. Haven't found the common thread on why some get 3 and some get 15.... crazy.

At Amazon UK I was playing around the other day with a fake order, and it depended on the item. One item was 3.08 but I added a second item and it jumped to 11.-something. I changed the second item and it went down to 4.08. So it may vary with the items you add.

They also remove VAT. Now to see what kind of shape it shows up in.

I just got an e-mail from Base cancelling my order:

We have cancelled your order for Walkabout - Limited Edition [Blu-ray] as we are unable to get a firm re-supply date for this product from our suppliers.

Please accept our apologies but we have a policy of not keeping back orders of titles we have no idea when we can supply.

I placed my order about the same time as your message.

I suspect Amazon UK is fiddling with the postal rates - I'm pretty sure yesterday the shipping was approx 23 pounds for 10 or 15 items...today it was 40 pounds...with every item I was interested in bumping the 3 pounds up to 15 as soon as I added a second item. --Peter

I took a look at it again because I'm thinking of ordering from them again (after the "break") and I'm getting 3.08 for the first item, and then it bumps approximately one pound for each additional (even when one of the items was a heavy box set). However, they still won't send the Second Sight "Limited" items to the US.

Yup. Just got the same message.

It's a limited edition set so it's certainly possible they simply oversold their actual, final allocation.
Another reason could be they just didn't want to honor the £2.99 shipping charge.

I've never used them before and this experience doesn't make me likely to try again anytime soon.

Zavvi still has Walkabout for pre-order with a £9.99 ship charge. Looks like the cheapest available now.

Being cynical, I can't help but wonder if the shipping is what did it in. I did place an order at Zavvi. We'll see what happens. I'm done with Base.

The shipping at Amazon UK could be price-based. When I did some of the recent 88 Films releases, standard shipping remained an option with 5 or 6. But with cheaper BFI stuff (7 and 8 pounds), the shipping went to 25 pounds as soon as I added a second title (and adding a cheaper one to an 88 Films also jumped the price). --Peter

I haven't noticed anything price related. I'm getting £3 shipping with £5-6-10 itmes and £100. I thought it might be weight, but a single disc set was the same price as the 4kg boxset.
Studio might be, but I really think it's item related.

Arrows mostly qualify for the std rate, Disney and Major studios seem to be cheap, Network/ITV -- few seem to though I'm only sampled a few items of each

Proglodite 08-19-20 10:42 PM

Second Sight's Dawn of the Dead blu qualified for the standard shipping...at least it did a couple of days ago. --Peter
