I think Cineplex Store Boxing Day Sale which last until the 27th is a better way to go for Blu-ray deals.

I actually searched Cineplex last night for a lot of the titles that I posted in this thread in in recent days as well as the various Boxing Day flyers (and later searched against titles I saw in the the actual store sales I visited today, where almost nothing was sold out, even late day) and would have to say this might be arguable. Definitely some decent buys, but most of it was cheaper at FS/BB and/or Walmart (their sales run to Dec. 27 as well). Scene points are a nice bonus, and I do collect them, but even factoring in their monetary value off the price of a regular admission, the savings are generally still better elsewhere. Admittedly some prices do match the competition, so there's that. :)

I found myself buying most of my titles at Real Canadian Superstore on boxing day.

They had the same newer release titles at the same prices compared with Future Shop/Best Buy but without the mobs of people.

They also had some interesting catalogue titles that I really hadn't seen before such as Paramount/Warner titles like Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Young Adult, Ghost, Days of Thunder, The Firm, Trading Places, Shutter Island, Tropic Thunders, Losers, Island of Dr. Monreau, Dumb and Dumber etc all for $5 each.

Ahh, yes, the joys of being Canadian, finding discs like these in 2013 that have been available in the U.S. for years, yet mainly turn up here as Boxing Day bin filler or, maybe, on Walmart's recurring "Blowout" standees. :) Still, five bucks is fair enough. Two Superstores nearby here still have all of them at that price even today, so if anyone still needs them . . .

Actually, having blown a few big wads on Black Friday sales a couple of weeks ago, I only perused a couple of DVD/Blu sales here on Boxing Day, extremely late in the day when the crowds were gone, and wasn't entirely surprised to see that virtually no titles -- even premium loss-leader-type stuff -- had actually sold out. Sign of the times, I suppose.

I guess it all depends on which title you're searching for. Cineplex can't beat those lightning deals at Amazon.ca but they were much better than Future Shop and Best Buy IMO.

Fair enough. Whatever works. ;) On the whole, these two very different experiences should be enough to suggest that others proceed with caution next year. The rest of the year it's a non-issue, as Cineplex pricing is almost obscene. At least they try to be competitive on Boxing Day (albeit moreso for you than me!)

Amazon.ca always has the oddball deal or so that makes it occasionally interesting for Americans. They seem much more willing to drastically drop the price on large boxsets than the original Amazon.

I realize you were trying to get over the 10-post threshold or some such thing in order to get some Barnes & Noble codes in another thread, but barring the fact that Americans generally have MORE deals (as befits a country with ten times our population), Canadians DO occasionally get some excellent deals, mainly on Amazon.ca (where free shipping still kicks in on $25 rather than the U.S. site's $35), such as most of the ones I've posted in this thread over the years. (and I do so as a Canuck with a USPS mailbox which helps me take advantage of American deals). Amazon Canada's boxed set deals of the day are frequently lower-priced than the U.S. counterparts have ever been.

Shipping killed it for me, though, adding $10. By the time I factor in the foreign currency conversion charge on the credit card, I might as well order from a US discounter
