I believe that particular Steelbook Design was originally a Target Exclusive. |
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
I saw the steel book of E.T. as well. Since I already bought it on Blu and also snagged a 4K set with CD etc for $9ish on BF2018, I passed on the steel book.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
Just got an email that they are redoing the 20% off this coming weekend to make due to the storm last weekend.
Not sure if it's everywhere or just the northeast. |

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
We got enough snow from mid afternoon to late night here to put the kibosh on me going out on Saturday. It might have been OK but was miserable and slick just walking across the street to my daughter's house to take one of the grandkids home. Sunday saw fully clear roads by at least 1pm (when I looked out at the street, surprised that ours was clear as it's usually still covered after the others are clear). I went that afternoon and used the coupon. We're not included in the "make up" sale. I'd have gone again if we were.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
Purchased today Apollo 13 & Anchors Aweigh BD's, 5 bucks apiece.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
Haven't been to my BL in a while. Saw the 2 monster steelbooks mentioned above.
I had a $5 off $15 coupon and grabbed the steelbook of Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels for $5. There was other "new to me titles" at both $3 & $5. On the DVD front, I noticed the first seasons of Crossbones & Grimm for $5. |
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
Moved about 7 years ago and don’t have a Big Lots in my normal driving patterns, but just learned the old ToysR-Us in town is being converted into a BL.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
Grabbed
$5 Gregory Peck 2 disc Blu Ray set with To Kill a Mockingbird and Cape Fear. Had codes for both. TKaMB worked at VUDU but CF only worked at iTunes. Fortunately both were MA. $5 To Kill a Mockingbird with Book for Xmas gift $5 To Kill a Mockingbird Blu+DVD for Xmas gift $3 Young Messiah for Xmas gift x2 $5 The Mummy 1932 Alex Ross steelbook with active code. $3 Dragon Nest Warrior's Dawn 3D with code that only worked at iTunes. And saw Lucy 4K for $5 |
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
So, how DO you kill a mockingbird?
|
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
I saw the 4K release of E.T. at a Big Lots on Wednesday night for $5. Thinking that had to be somebody's mistake. I also noted a Donnie Yen: 3 Movie Collection DVD boxed set, also for $5.
No Mockingbirds yet, but I'm carrying my slingshot. :) |

No Mockingbirds yet, but I'm carrying my slingshot. :) Anyone notice those TKAM and Alex Ross steels in SoCal ? TIA |
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
Picked up the only copy of the To Kill A Mockingbird digibook & The Wolf Man steelbook yesterday at BL.
Had copies of Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels regular BD's, but no steelbook. :( |
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
I've seen none of the titles mentioned... yet... I went by Wednesday night to find the same old stock. In all fairness, they're pretty full and don't appear to have sold much in the past month or so. They not not want to put another waterfall display on the floor yet...
|
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
I visited my local BL this morning and they had definitely restocked, with dozens more BD disks. But most were of the very same titles they had before. I bought the lone TKAMB (non-digibook) and noted a lone Psycho (1960), some Shrek 2D disks, and a bunch of Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels steelbooks. TKAMB is staying wrapped until I'm sure no digibooks show up.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
Serendipitous outing today - en route to the local BL, stopped by a Goodwill store that opened recently and picked up the following BDs for $2.99 each
If anyone in SoCal spots any of those steels, please do post (got a $5 off $15 coupon to use by 2/17) - TIA |
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
Scored the steels along with a few others at a Huntington Beach store in SoCal
There were also more of the Disney PVs still stubbornly priced at $10 each (Tomorrowland, BFG, POTC 5) |

Amazon appears to be PMing BB. If it's available local to you (it's not for me) you may be able to get another $1 off doing a store pickup. |
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
Went to my local Big Lots store this evening and found a single copy of the Gregory Peck Centennial Collection ($5). It was the only BD I really wanted that people were finding, so I was very happy.
|
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
A few I saw and/or picked up today
$3 - The Company You Keep (unadvertised expired UV code, redeemed fine on MA), Silent House (UV/ITunes digital code redeemed on Itunes and ported to MA, wouldn't redeem directly on MA), Bad Words (w/DVD and UV/ITunes digital code redeemed on Itunes and ported to MA, wouldn't redeem directly on MA) $5 - Trouble with the Curve (unadvertised expired UV code, redeemed fine on MA), Psycho (Pop Art), The Birds (Pop Art) $10 - Thor Ragnarok, Cars 3 (both previously viewed) |
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
My local store had a small $10 cardboard display on a center aisle shelf today. There were a few of the Marvel pre-owned films, an 8 film DVD Blumhouse collection and the Fast & the Furious 7 film set on BD.
|
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
I got the Invisible Man Steel book $5
This one I also bought DVD of TCM Classic Film War $5 for 4 films Battle of the Bulge The Dawn Patrol Gunga Din Operation Pacific |
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
Armed with a $5 off $15 coupon this is what I picked up this morning:
Eye in the Sky Elektra (Director's Cut) Daredevil (Director's Cut) Tigerland Night Watch / Day Watch DF ...they were all $3 apiece |
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
Went to 2 local Big Lots stores today.
Picked up the Fast & Furious 7-Movie Collection for a friend of mine who only owned a few of the earlier films. Only found this set at one of the stores I went to, which only had 2 sets on the shelves. Fantastic deal for $10, especially since they come with Digital Codes. Also picked up a copy of The Gift for $5. |
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
I went to my local Big Lots yesterday hoping to find some Universal Monsters steelbooks, but they had only 1 copy of 1 Best Buy steelbook: Resident Evil:Afterlife. It was on a cardboard display that looked fairly picked over. I have seen one or two of those movies but I'm not a fan of the franchise so I didn't buy it.
|
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
I've looked a couple of times here - see lots of the Resident Evil steelbook (not interested - have them already and it's nothing "special"). I did find *one* copy of The Mummy steelbook and purchased it (with a coupon so it was ~$3.50). I already own 2 copies of each of the main movies on BR (and as many as 4 on DVD title depending) and would purchase a copy of any of them that show up... just for the artwork.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
This Saturday & Sunday (4/6 & 4/7) are Friends & Family Reward Day.
20% off your entire purchase after your card is scanned in store. |
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
Picked up a copy of the 6-disc Alien Anthology Blu-Ray set for $5. It looked like it was the only copy they had. I already have a copy but it's a little banged up so I'm deciding whether I want to open it or return it and hold out for a 4K set.

This was in a huge new waterfall display. |
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
^ Thanks!
Found this one this morning along with the Planet of the Apes Legacy Collection (also $5). |
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
Wow. I got the POTA set somewhere at a sale a few months ago, but I know it was more than $5.
I was just next door to BL & didn't bother going in! |
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
Couldn't find a POTA set, but they had multiple Alien sets (which I already own).
I miss the days when we had 3 BL in town. We only have one now. |
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
I bought the following today: Alien Anthology Set Planet of the Apes Set( I already had a blu Ray set with all the movies individuals but for $5 why not) Independence Day 2 disc Anniversary edition SpiderMan 2 3D |
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
By chance, I ran into the Alien set on Thursday and picked it up (The only copy there as well) Saw POTA there too, but I thought it was just the first movie!
|
Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
Seen I had a $5 off $15 coupon that expired today so I went back and grabbed the $3 titles I didn't have:
Bad Words The Colony The Numbers Station The Other Man |
