Some of the HD-DVD discs were combo discs which were playable on DVD players for the DVD side so I know they were being sold for really cheap at some point and people with or without a player were picking them up. $5 is my price-point for upgrading my HD-DVD to Blu-ray so Warner's Red2Blu program was something I took advantage of. Great because I got to keep my HD-DVD discs and bought their Blu-ray equivalent for $5.

Hopefully Best Buy does another one of these Trade and Save deals in the future with their sales staff being fully informed of dealing with the sale on day one and without them jacking up prices on some of the titles after the first week.

Pulp Fiction is @ $11.99 this week but I had some DVDs I wanted to unload.

It looks like several of the T&S titles have gone on sale. Unfortunately, price matching does not preserve your coupon, so in most cases the new sale price is above the T&S price. However, there are a few titles that have dropped below their T&S prices, so you can take your receipts in to Customer Service and get them price adjusted.

I believe all of these titles were $9.99 after T&S coupon, but they are on sale now for $6.99, so you can get $3 adjusted:

Punisher: War Zone
Rambo
Trainspotting
Good Will Hunting

Do anyone able to get their $5 coupon back after they returned Trade & Save blurays?

Re: Best Buy Trade And Save - Oct. 9 - Oct. 29th

Why would it matter? The coupon is expired, as of Oct. 29.

Found this on a slickdeals thread today

Best Buy Upgrade and save $5 off any Bluray 9.99 or higher. Starts 1/08
Hey everyone.

I was talking to a friend at Best Buy and found out the Upgrade-and-save program is coming back starting next week.

You take in any old DVD (real copy, no burnt copies or porn) in original casing and you get a $5 coupon towards a Blu-ray

In the past it was a select list of movies...this time is alot better

You can use the upgrade coupon for any Blu-ray 9.99 or higher.

If I can get a copy of the ad ill try to scan it.
Assuming this is accurate at all, this could be a great deal for everyone since there doesn't seem to be any restrictions on titles.

Good deal if it's off any BD. Seems to good to be true, but probably trying to clear out some space.

Yes, because one less store of competition will surely make sure we pay less for Blu-rays.
FTR, I have never had any issues with deals, including the Trade and Save, or coupons at Best Buy

This is interesting if true. I almost did this the last time they ran it, but never got around to getting to the store. The few titles I did want ended up being the same discounted price (or cheaper) on BF.

If it's really going to be on any BD $10 and up this time, it could be really exciting. I wonder how long the lines will be to trade in the DVDs.

I hope the "fine print" doesn't say the discount is taken off "regular price"...

In this case, I'd gladly pay MORE for Blu-rays, because a "sale" at Best Buy is just a fucking pain in the asshole. At least with BB gone, if something did go on sale, it wouldn't take an Act of Congress and the entire state's National Guard to get what was advertised.

If you ever purchase something from Amazon where they are matching Best Buys ad price (and they do that frequently), please tell them you would prefer to pay the original price instead. Thanks!

To each his own. I love Best Buy and never have issues at any of their stores. It would be a sad day for me when I can't go into a Best Buy and browse DVD's and video games.

Err, sometimes these "sales" are sponsored by the studios trying to get rid of excess stock. While you might think Amazon is price matching Best Buy, they are simply going along with whatever rebate might be offered to them.

I'm also pretty sure Amazon likely has the lower price over Best Buy more than 50% of the time. I'm sure cherry-picking some titles would work, but is anyone going to pay $55 for Chuck S3 on Blu-ray from Best Buy (just a made up price).

Not sure if I'm reading you right. Are you saying the titles you listed BEFORE that sentence are all $12.99 with coupon? If so, I'm all over Cowboys & Aliens and POTA

Re: Best Buy Trade And Save - Oct. 9 - Oct. 29th

Prices hold true it looks like possibly a lot of their $9.99 titles on sale now may hopefully still be on sale. Going to go right away for sure if that is the case.
