The girl behind the customer service desk said no, that I had to pick 5 Blu-rays now and they had to have the yellow upgrade stickers on them. I looked around the store and saw only 1 Blu-ray with a sticker on them and had to show them via their website that many titles were eligible. I selected 5 blu-rays and the girl kept saying she couldn't get $5 to take off on any of the titles. When she called over the manager, the manager was equally clueless saying since they were on sale, the $5 wouldn't come off. I asked him why anyone would trade anything in then if the sale price would always be less than the msrp price - the $5 trade-in. He just said "I guess they wouldn't.". Left the store empty-handed, wasting over an hour at their store. Probably will try another store, hopefully with employees who are not equally clueless but I'm not getting my hopes up.

It's a wonder with all the promotions BB is running to attract customers, that their employees are so ill-prepared for them or even have an idea what they are from week to week.
If they were University material, they would not be working at BB.

I didn't have much of a problem last night. The girl at the CS desk of course didn't know how to do the trade in so she called a manager, and handed me 4 of the coupons for my dvds. I know when they did this trade-in promo last time (3-4 months ago) they at least scanned them into the register, but whatever.

I picked up Forrest Gump (stickered $9.99, but rang up $14.99), Grindhouse, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and I still have a coupon left over to use.

Yes, they say "Offer Valid 10/9/2011-10/29/2011"

That is what I expected but the web site shows both as blu only. The 19.99 one has a sticker over the sku. Without opening mine I wont know what is in it because it doesnt have the slip cover.

It looks like the price of True Grit went up to $19.99 on the BB website. That sucks. I was planning on going later today and picking it up.

Does anyone know if True Grit is still ringing up for $9.99?

That was the price in-store yesterday. Don't know about today, but if I stop by a local store on the way home, I'll check for you.

Re: Best Buy Trade And Save - Oct. 9 - Oct. 29th

Silly me, I went to Best Buy today thinking it was the John Wayne TRUE GRIT that was a part of this sale! Found out fast it was the remake and even then it was sold out, but marked on the slot, $19.99.

I traded in some wayward public domain titles GoHastings sent me by mistake and picked up STRAW DOGS and ROB ROY for five bucks each. Never saw ROB ROY, hope it's good. Was tempted on the remake of DAWN OF THE DEAD and may go back and get that one if I get a chance. Never saw that either, but have heard good things about it.

Re: Best Buy Trade And Save - Oct. 9 - Oct. 29th

Had better luck at the 2nd BB I visited. After first being directed by Customer Service to the videogame area to try to trade in my DVDs only to have the videogame guy come back with me to the Customer Service desk to tell them they're the ones handling it, a manager came out that had the Upgrade coupons. Once again, they did have me pick out my 5 Blu-rays first and, with the exception of not being able to get True Grit for $9.99 anymore (jeez, I really wanted that one), was able to get everything else I wanted.

Picked up The Town Extended Edition for $9.99 after coupon.

FYI, there are now 140 titles listed on www.bestbuy.com/upgradeandsave whereas yesterday there were only 119.

Edit: It looks like it was mostly TV series that were added. Rome, Entourage, True Blood, Sopranos, etc.

Re: Best Buy Trade And Save - Oct. 9 - Oct. 29th

I picked up Halloween and Straw Dogs today. My local BB has a small section dedicated to this deal but only had two to three copies of most of these.

I traded in a couple of titles I got from the last Blockbuster video .99 dvd sale(early Sept. I believe). One of them had BBV exclusive all over the cover and disc but I had no problems whatsoever trading them in. Of course it probably didn't hurt that the girl working CS pretty much knows me by name considering the number of orders I have been picking up there over the last two-three months. I did however switch out the rental cases for some reg. empties I had sitting around.

Hopefully Die Hard 1 & 3 will still be there later this week when I go back.

Wow... they actually accepted HD-DVDs? I still have a couple dozen sitting around but can't hardly find any DVDs in the house to use for the trade-in.

Has anyone besides jiggyblau successfully used HD-DVDs?

Yes it is still on sale until the 14th for under $10,but they took it off the the trade in list.Still a good buy at $10.I'm sure it will drop down more, since I paid $10 for it.

Also the store I went to would only ring up one blu/coupon at a time.
So I have 6 long ass receipts.
I not a big fan of Best buy,but for $5 blu's they will get some of my $.

I traded in HD-DVDs during the last Trade N Save event without an issue.

Okay, cool. I'll grab a few of my HD-DVDs and give it a try.

I actually just posed the question on their Facebook page to confirm it's okay before I drive 45 minutes to my nearest store, and someone from BB responded it will be fine as long as it's from their list of titles, and she gave me a link to their list of Blu-rays we may buy with the coupons. But, from everything I've read here, it certainly doesn't have to be a same-title exchange. So even online, they're publicly misinforming their customers. Shocker!

Re: Best Buy Trade And Save - Oct. 9 - Oct. 29th

Got:
Rob Roy
Top Gun
Forrest Gump

all 4.99.

There were copies of FG (the only ones with slipcovers) that were marked 9.99. The shelf tag for Top Gun said 9.99. They had to do manual adjustments for me to get the 4.99 amount (since the coupon would not stack with the PM), but they did it with no problem.

still looking for copies of POA and maybe Last Starfighter at my local BB, but they haven't shown up. They are remodeling and they haven't even put out a display with the promo. In fact, I think I'm they only one doing it at my local BB.

I picked up a couple hundred public domain titles for 5 cents a piece a couple of years ago. They sure come in handy in times like this. (Plus I get to keep the thincase)

I wish I had picked up more of those Boardwalk Empire first episode DVD's for $0.01 each for exactly this reason.

Re: Best Buy Trade And Save - Oct. 9 - Oct. 29th

They won't accept anything in a rental case right? I've got some previous rentals that I picked up at a closing Movie Gallery for 50 cents that I could unload...

I've also got a few duplicate retail DVDs sitting in storage that I need to dispose of, I was going to sell them to a local pawn shop but they only offer $0.50-$1 a title, so if I can get $5 for them through this promo I'll drive the extra 40 minutes to my closest store.
