Amazon - $5 Off Tron Legacy BDs
Stopped by Amazon's Disney store link and noticed they have three $5 off blu-ray coupons for the various releases of Tron Legacy...
Tron Legacy 4-disc
Tron Legacy 5-disc (includes the original Tron)
Tron Legacy 5-disc limited edition (same as the 5-disc, but with a small Identity Disc collectible)

I went ahead and did placeholder orders for the 5-disc and 4-disc editions. I'll see which version will be the better value before release date. Will probably end up canceling both if the prices don't fall significantly - like $35 for the standard double feature or $20 for the 4-Disc Tron: Legacy after coupon.

Re: Amazon - $5 Off Tron Legacy BDs
Thanks to OP for the coupon info, but I'd like to say ouch. The Fantasia DF was much cheaper plus I had a $10 coupon. I might be inclined to wait closer to release day. For those not interested in 3D, Amazon has separate Tron and Tron Legacy blu ray releases that qualify for an $8 discount when purchased together but still comes out to about $47.98. Hopefully Disney will cough up another $10 coupon for those of us who have the old Tron DVD but it may only apply to the original Tron BD.

The prices are OK considering 3D is included, but a $5 coupon is almost an insult. You know there will be store coupons for at least $8. I bet Tron will have an $8 upgrade coupon, and Tron Legacy will have a $10 coupon for the combo pack. I choose $18 off over $5 off. I'm going to wait...

for those interested in the non3D version or just the original
Tron Legacy
Original
Best value deal halfway down the page gets you both for $47.98, cheaper than any of the sets with coupons and you dont get all the extra discs you don't need (especially if you're not interested in 3D)

The art for Tron is horrible! I'd prefer ANY of the dvd release versions over that. Also, I'm definitely going to wait for this for B&M. $5 off of too much is still too much.

I ordered two of the sets. (Five disc and two disc)
If it ends up being cheaper some other way, then I'll just cancel my Amazon orders =)

I'll wait until we see some real prices for these. I do think we will see the $10 coupon too. Especially for the larger set.

Re: Amazon - $5 Off Tron Legacy BDs
Those are some bullshit prices right there. Disney releases these multi disc sets intentionally so they can justify crap prices like that. I don't care about digital copy, dvd, or 3D versions of the movie. I only care about the bluray. *sigh*

Exactly. Considering we were seeing the Fantasia 2 film combo pack, with a MSRP of $40, for $12 on release day I'm hoping we'll see something comparable. I'd dip into the expensive sets for under $30 easily. I think my price point is going to be $20.

Too bad there isn't a $5 coupon for the 2-Disc version.

As much as I like collector's editions... the Identity Disc doesn't even look good. You can just go to Target and Wal-Mart and get a full-size Identity Disc that lights up (and has a stand) and it'd be way more authentic.

Five discs would be impressive if it were actually five discs of extras ... sorry, not dropping $70 for five copies of the same movie.

Re: Amazon - $5 Off Tron Legacy BDs
I cannot agree. I have Tangled 4-disc 3D preordered for $21.99 and paid less than $23 for Despicable Me. This inclusion of multiple formats is getting ridiculous. Why does a digital version have to have a disc instead of a download voucher? Also, can't the 2D & 3D versions of the film be on the same BD or does that just eat up too much space? Tron includes 2 films so I could understand a release day price of $30-35 or maybe $40 for the 3D effort. I could then use my Tron upgrade coupon provided they give one to get a further discount.

It's only going to get worse as retailers want 1 SKU and not 2-5. Expect more of these every month (not just with 3D, but Blu-ray/DVD/DC)
Because it costs money to keep a 700MB-2GB file on iTunes (bandwidth). When it's on the disc, the code simply 'unlocks' the disc and allows it to be transfered to your computer. It's also faster this way.
Depends on the film/studio. Disney and Warner refuse to do this. In some cases, space is an issue, so having a 2D and 3D on the same disc with Lossless audio and Special Features just isn't possible (Piranha - lost some special features). So splitting it makes sense (they use the same 2D Disc in the 3D 'set' for the 2D SKU, so it actually saves money). Also, by splitting, it insures the 2D Disc might not be sold/given away since it houses the Special Features. There is also issues with the PS3 handing 3D Discs, and not screwing over those owners (which is huge) is a big deal.
More Discs = Better value. Regardless if they are used or not.

hopefully when we get closer to release date disney will release a better printable coupon like 10 off the regular combo pack so we dont have to pay $50 for it.

Re: Amazon - $5 Off Tron Legacy BDs
May I ask where on the page is the $5 coupon? I have looked everywhere on the page OP posted link for and don't see any $5 to clip (unlike the Tangled and Bambi ones previously). Was this only for select customers?

Re: Amazon - $5 Off Tron Legacy BDs
There used to be a little clickable coupon under the cover art on the product page, but I don't see it now. Looks like they pulled it already.
EDIT: Nevermind, it's still there. You have to be signed in to see it.
