HBO Blu-ray sale at BestBuy.com and Amazon

This appears to be only on Bestbuy.com, not in stores, and Amazon is matching and beating Best Buy's price on a lot of them.

Here's the post from Blu-ray.com (I hope it's okay to post a link here): http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=5643

Some good deals to be had, a lot of them the lowest price ever, especially if combined with the $10 RZ gift certificate: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/blu-ray-bar...christmas.html

It's in this week's Best Buy ad so it is in stores also.

Sorry, I must have been looking at last week's ad. Still worth noting that Amazon's prices are better in some cases.

It appears that Amazon is beating every BB price by $1 exactly... I would order The Pacific, but I want to see if I can find the BB exclusive one first. It isn't available for in-store pickup anywhere, so the odds are slim...

I'm surprised there isn't more talk about Deadwood. If I'm interested in it, is there a reason not to jump on it immediately? It seems like the lowest price around by quite a bit, and not likely to be much lower anytime in the near future, correct?

I was going to try and wait for the 60-70 mark but with that unlikely happening in the near future I went ahead and bit. I also own the complete series dvd set which I will either gift or sell to someone.

I wish I'd waited on Deadwood. Pre-ordered it for $138, then Amazon dropped it by $13 days afterwords, now this. I'd have jumped on this price, though.

Picked up The Pacific today, though.

It's not worth $94 to upgrade from SD.

It is if you trade in the original DVD's to Amazon for $31.25, that makes it a pretty good deal for an upgrade I think.

You could easily sell it yourself and easily net around 50 bucks on Amazon Marketplace ... so why would you want to do that?

Then again, it's the rare TV series that I would want to watch more than once and rarer still that I would want to watch more than twice so ...

$50 and then they take something like 25%. Much easier just sending it off to Amazon.

Amazon UK has the best price for Band of Brothers BD.

The lowest used price on Amazon Marketplace is 68 dollars and Amazon's cut is 15 percent. That's why I said (ballpark figure) you would be netting about 50 bucks.

But if you don't have the time or energy to sell it yourself yet have the time and energy to post on the Internet, indeed trade it back to Amazon. They will love you for it.

Exactly. I love Deadwood and Rome but I can't justify upgrading them.

Good luck selling it used for $68 plus shipping when Amazon has it new with free shipping for $74. And you are assuming we are upgrading from the SD of the Complete Series, many of us are not; we have the individual seasons. Amazon has those for less than $27 with free shipping. Good luck selling your used copies of those for more than $15 plus shipping right now.

I am so tempted to order Deadwood and John Adams at Amazon, $93.99 and $31.49

And check out the DVDTALK REVIEW on Deadwood BD..........and John Adams BD.

Ive never seen a single episode of Deadwood but I am a huge western fan, does the series have a good ending or did the show get cancelled without much warning?

^^Canceled without any warning, from what I understand. Sounds like virtually zero on the storylines of the previous episodes were wrapped up.

I also picked up the Pacific. Still considering Deadwood.

Re: HBO Blu-ray sale at BestBuy.com and Amazon

3 times I've believed that I'd made my last purchase of 2010 and each time I've been wrong.

True Blood seasons 1 and 2 were just too good to pass up on (and, while not BDs, I snagged all 3 seasons of Veronica Mars for about $60).

My wife likes TB more than I do, but the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of having it. Only season 2 was on the mediocre side. Season 1 was fun and season 3 was very good.

And it's a show I won't mind waiting again until the next big sale to pick up season 3, whenever the one gets released.

Hope HBO releases Big Love on BD after the series ends, but I don't expect it.

In November B & N had the DVDs of the individual seasons of Deadwood and Rome for $24.99 each, before member discount and/or any coupons.

I enjoy Deadwood ( I say enjoy because I haven't seen all 3 seasons yet) but I don't recommend it to too many people. This is not your typical Western. I would make sure to read a few reviews before blind buying. If you like Westerns and The Sopranos you should be fine.
