Back in November when I started making the lists I only intended to do it for the holiday season. Little did I realize that I had created a monster.

If someone else would like to take over, they are welcome to have at it! (But I'm not holding my breath while I wait for someone to step forward...)

I'd offer to help but that'd take away from all the arguing I'm compelled to do in the Otter forum. Instead I'm offering my thanks and a coupon for a free "stop yelling at me" coupon you can use in any qualifying thread on religion.

How do you find the lows? Do you go to blu-ray.com, or what method do you use?

I think plenty of people would be glad to help, we just don't know what method you use. Also, I don't know about everyone else, but I couldn't care less about having the amazon links for each title. It's no sweat off my back to go to Amazon and search for the title if it saves you the time of having to link them.

First, you've done an amazing job with this thread. A big, big thank you for your hard and time consuming work. I'm always impressed with what some of the folks do here for this site without payment. I always felt an occasional free DVD or blu-ray should be sent out to members like you from this site as a token thank you.

I wouldn't blame you if you bolted and I'd run if I was you. Most folks don't understand or appreciate the energy and time that goes into what you and others do in updating a thread like this and keeping the rest of us lazy butts informed.

If you do continue, I wouldn't put so much energy into it. I'd stop all linking, including to past posts. It's certainly great that you do that, but it's not like Amazon is giving you a discount for doing so.

Anyway, outstanding job!

Re: Amazon Discounts and Deals Thread #7 (is it #7? I'll pretend it is)

Thanks, lizard! As others have said, unlinked lists would be fine with me. Maybe DVD Talk should be paying you to compile these.

Thoughts on Galaxina? Amazon customers have me thinking it's not the Corman-type cheesefest I would expect,

I put some useful links in the first post of this thread.

In addition to making it more convenient for readers of this thread, I try to include the links because it helps pin down which version of a title is on sale. It also gives me a chance to flag pre-orders, as well as older catalog titles and Criterions (because I know they have their fans here).

The idea is to make this resource thread more useful, but there are limits to how much time I am willing to spend on it, hence the occasional list only. It would have taken me several hours to link the 93 titles in yesterday's new lows list.

Perhaps someone here has the programming skills to come up with an algorithm to automate it, but I do not. Instead I make multiple copies of the link format: [ url= ][ /url ] $ (without the extra spaces, of course) and then paste the information into the proper locations, ordered by price. This can be done fairly efficiently if one knows keyboard commands; it would be tedious to do with just a couple of windows/tabs and a mouse/trackball. [But I meet people all the time who don't even know about such basic keyboard commands as [Ctrl]-A, [Ctrl]-C, [Ctrl]-V, [Ctrl]-X, [Ctrl]-W, [Ctrl]-S, [Alt]-Tab, [Ctrl]-Tab, [Windows]-D, selecting text using the Shift key, and so forth (or the Mac equivalents).]

FYI, these are $4.99 at walmart.com and IN STOCK NOW (must be a limited time exclusive). There's actually a bunch more. I listed them all in the WM bargains thread. I ordered a few, and they have already shipped, so they appear to truly be in-stock.

It's a very, very bad movie. I've just watched it in the past couple of weeks. It's not a "good" bad either. Yucchh! It's over priced at any price. IMHO.

The acting and story is on a par with bad porn, and there's no porn.

Yes but Galaxina comes with Crater Lake Monster, and that's a lot of fun if you like really bad monster movies which I sure do.

I second that. Certainly why I bought the blu-ray.
I'm not sure if they properly mastered the Crater Lake Monster though. An awful lot of shots that were supposed to be night were presented as day. I assume they were shot to be reprocessed to look like night or dusk. Did the movie always look like this?

I think you misunderstood my comment. I was not complaining but acknowledging all the great work you do. I don't know where you find the time and dedication to come out with these lists sometimes multiple times of day all by "yourself" without an "assistant" thats all.

If you are actually paying for the premium membership then Dvdtalk should be embarrassed with themselves and yeah they should have the decensy to rig a contest for you here and there.

As someone who has saved more than a few bucks on BRs because of Lizard (and on DVDs in general due to this side of the board), I feel exactly the same way Pizza does.

Lizard, if you would like to go to the Hamiltonbook.com website and pick out 25$ worth of DVDs or books (or pick from our very limited selection of overpriced BRs), I would be very happy to send them on out to you. You saved me more than that the first month you were doing this.

Alternately I guess I could say you COST me that much by showing me all these good deals but my lack of willpower is my problem, not yours!

Just shoot me a PM if you're interested (I sponsor a fair amount of the challenges so I think the runners could vouch that I am on the level, this isn't autobot spam or the like)

Just a friendly aside.... Savant is a good film historian and critic, but he is not very knowledgeable or reliable when it comes to rating the more technical aspects of a transfer or presentation. I never invest any confidence in his ability to gauge how good a DVD or Blu Ray is beyond his content review.

There are much better sites for more technical reviews, including DVD Beaver and Robert Harris' posts at HTF. Harris was the one who really took Fox to task for the excessive DNR on PATTON and THE LONGEST DAY.

I only work 4 months out of the year. Time is not a issue, Amazon is (still piss off a little). Is there a link you go to to pull all the deals or do you look at this site and that site and pull your info from there?
