Re: Amazon Discounts and Deals Thread #7 (is it #7? I'll pretend it is)

I'm diggin some of those 5.99/6.99 titles. I just bit on Legend of Zorro. Was gonna pull the trigger on the Quick and the Dead, but it just doesn't seem worthy of an upgrade, even at only 6 bucks, since it is pretty much barebones. I might get Nick and Nora, once I confirm that I don't already own it...

I didn't see a post from anyone else about this yet, but I received an e-mail from Amazon today giving me a $7.50 credit for my Twilight Zone orders due to what they said was a pricing error. I ordered mine later in the morning on Sunday after they corrected the price, so if anyone else ordered on Sunday and didn't get the promotional credit, you might want to contact Amazon.

Re: Amazon Discounts and Deals Thread #7 (is it #7? I'll pretend it is)

Does anyone think that I should bite on Alien and Aliens for 14.99 each now, or do we think that these prices are not going to be uncommon for them despite their 34.99 MSRP? I'd hate to miss out on them when they're this low, but am happy to wait if we think that this won't be a rare price point for them.

It all depends how much you want these movies and if you can stand waiting. My experience in DVDs has been if you wait long enough the price will keep dropping. Who would've thought the Alien Quadrilogy DVD set would sell for $20 at Amazon? If you want to go through Amazon UK (which I don't) hasn't the Alien BD set been about $35? My BD price point for the first 2 movies on BD is $10 each and $5 for the second 2 which I didn't like. So that means $30 or less for me. As my Alien Quadrilogy DVD set is good enough for me for the once every 5 years that I watch the first 2 movies (or once every 20 years that I watch the other 2), I'll hold firm on the price.

Besides Criterions or maybe Digibooks which don't seem to be on sale much, I expect every other normal catalog title on BD to drop under $10 within a year or two and get closer to $5 a few years later, especially when Big Lots starts to get large BD sections and and Walmart gets a real BD dump bin. Knowing them they'd just mix them all together with the DVDs. I say wait if you can.

Yes, I always wait on catalog titles unless I need to have them now.

I think it's crazy to spend $30 on 2 movies when you can get all 4 plus a ton of extras for only $10 more.

For less than $4 more, you can have the entire box set (including shipping) from amazon.co.uk, and it is region free. That's a no-brainer, as far as I'm concerned... I wouldn't even consider paying $30 for just the 2 movies...

Never trust the Amazon main page listing as Amazon has turned their site into a glorified Amazon branded marketplace this year. The $10.44 price is a random third party seller listing on the main title page.

On Amazon, nope. 46.49 is the lowest it's been, as far as Camelizer says.

$39 via DeepDiscount's B1G1 sale back in February is the cheapest I've seen them anywhere.

Re: Amazon Discounts and Deals Thread #7 (is it #7? I'll pretend it is)

On titles like 2 Fast 2 Furious or Tokyo Drift, I love the way Amazon lowers the price by 50 cents the next day. They were $8.99 at Target (and Amazon, I think) just a little while ago. That's why it's interesting to look at camelcamelcamel before buying to see the odd price behavior of some titles.
