I grabbed Adventureland used from a Blockbuster going out of business sale. I think I paid about 9.00 plus tax so check there if you're interested.

BD Deal of the Week: America Lost and Found: The BBS Story (Criterion Collection)--$66.99

Also,
The New World--$9.99
Forbidden Planet--$13.49
Shawshank Redemption (non-digibook)--$13.99
Water Life series--$27.99

...and although Best Buy's $24.99 sale on Planet Earth is over, amazon still has it very cheap at $27.99.

EDIT: As of this moment (6:30 A.M. EST), Planet Earth is in stock for $27.71 from a marketplace vendor and fulfilled by amazon, so you can get it shipped prime and no waiting for them to fill backorders.

EDIT (9:55 A.M. EST): Planet Earth now sold out at $27.71.

Seems like a good price on shawshank redemption right? I usually won't pay more than $10 a blu but i might make an exception here.

According to dvdpricesearch.com, next cheapest price for a non-digibook copy among major online retailers is $18.96 at DVD Planet. They are not reporting amzon's price drop yet.

Funny I was just pricing Shawshank last night (I was watching it on AMC). Is there any difference between the digi and the non digi version?

Only the packaging. The disc is the same in each.

I know this isn't a Blu-ray deal but thought I'd post it since:
1. I can't see this title coming to Blu-ray any time soon if ever
2. I'm thinking many of you like myself don't check the DVD bargains anymore

Amazon has Boris Karloff's THRILLER the complete series DVD set in the Gold Box Deal of the Day for $53.99 (which is 64% off the $149.98 list price)

Hope this was helpful to some horror fans out there, I know I'd been waiting for the price to drop.

Just wondering if anyone has both the DVD and Blu-ray. I have the DVD box set (really just wanted the cards, roby and extra item mostly). Is it worth it to buy the blu on this one? or is just a dvd to blu move?

"I was deeply impressed with Forbidden Planet on HD DVD, and I couldn't be more thrilled with this re-release on Blu-ray either.

This remastering from Warner wipes away most every trace of wear and speckling, and film grain remains tight and stable throughout."

Couldn't find Shawshank for that price...it must have been a pricing error. The Amazon price is up to $25.49.

Not an error. It's still available for that price. To find it:

1. Make sure you are not looking at the digibook version. The version on sale is the one in the regular BD case, not the book. (Use the link in lizard's list of prices above to get to the correct version quickly).

2. Click on "New" where the amazon marketplace listings are. Amazon's $13.99 price is the first listed. They are currently sold out, so they've once again defaulted to the cheapest copies they have in stock, which are from a marketplace seller. But you can still backorder a copy for $13.99.

lizard 04-03-11 05:25 PM

^Thanks for taking the time to explain that Superdaddy. This has been happening often enough that I assumed that everyone was aware of it now, so I just try to flag the OOS titles that have third party prices showing when I make my links.

It doesn't work for me to link to Marketplace page because it just defaults to the main Amazon page for the title.

I wonder if they plan on dropping Red to $14.99. It looks like they've done their standard $1.50-above-competitor price for the movie-only edition, but the Blu+Digital edition is the one that is $14.99 at Best Buy. I guess we'll see in the new few days...

Thanks, Superdaddy (and Lizard, as always). I'm aware of the "more buying choices," but as Superdaddy pointed out, I was on the Digibook version. I didn't click the link and instead did a search through Amazon, so that's where my problem was.

I understand that you can't link to the main Amazon page, but I just assumed it was the Digibook because (in my haste) I forgot there was another version. Thanks for clearing things up.

Anyone have these two? Am I significantly missing out if I don't get the Digibook version? I'm still rolling with the original snapper DVD 1-disc despite the fact that this is one of my all-time favorites. Tragic, I know.

Sure, the tickets are cheap, but with the airfare and hotel cost, it would be too expensive... ;)

Still waiting for Amazon to price match Best Buy and Target for Tron:Legacy and the original Tron 2-discs. Amazon is still at $24.99, they are at $19.99 each. BB has $5 off with both, Target has $8. Target is still the best deal right now.
