Looks like Blue Thunder, another Sony title, dropped to $10.49.

Okay, is there ANY difference between this and the 2-disc blu-ray apart from the digital copy?

That is for sure. I can't believe what's going on with the prices on these Sony titles.

I'd like to recommend Immortal Beloved. Got that earlier this year (it certainly didn't cost $10 like it does now) and after not watching it for many years, I have to say I think I enjoyed it even more the second time around. Plus it has a great performance by Oldman, another lovely Sony transfer, and the Beethoven music in lossless...mind-blowing. More than worth a few bucks.

The Sound of Music keeps creeping lower too. I may actually get tempted. I think it's a good film, not great (partly because I think R&H wrote much better scores elsewhere), but fond childhood memories may win out if it gets a little cheaper.

Amazon is just driving me nuts here. I have to stay away from this thread!

New lightning deal schedule for next week!

I'm in for Modern Family, and I may be in for Sound of Music, Dirty Harry, and the Scrubs collection (DVD) depending on price.

If Alice in Wonderland is the Limited Edition that goes on sale I may grab it. The others are cooler but I already have both of the movies and it wouldn't be worth the 14.99 just for the packaging.

ETA: Just voted for Alice and it looks like Watchmen is blowing away the competition. I might be tempted to grab that if it wins the vote, that packaging looks pretty damn awesome. Also just noticed that all 3 will be on sale, but only the winner will be 14.99

I'll finally pick up Moon if it's below $10. I loved it when it came out in theaters.

I also voted for the Alice in Wonderland set because I have the other movies too.

I've been wanting to get Modern Family since it came out, so a lightning deal gives me a good excuse and I'll get it at whatever price. I was bummed that there was a black Friday lightning deal for the DVD but not the Blu, so I'm glad the Blu will be on sale this time.

I'm not a big Sound of Music fan but that just looks like an awesome set, if the price is right I'll grab it.

I had to vote for the Night Owl, but I'll be satisfied if Alice wins. However, either one will sell out in 2 seconds flat. You know a lot of us will miss out on it...

What was the BD price last month when it was the DOTD? $24.99?

I don't know, I must have missed that one. 24.99 would be great, so I hope it's around that price for this lightning deal.

Voted for night owl, but just got my BB set today, so I probably wouldn't even order it. I'm hoping the Pillars of the Earth, Ally McBeal, National Parks, or What's Happening sets are dirt cheap.

I had to bite on that Christmas Carol price. I just got a 3-D TV, and that's a great deal for a 4-disc set, including the 3D BD...

I bought it for $23.99 on 11/2.

Was just trying to give a reference point so you could estimate what the Blu would be.

Grabbed Walking Dead for pre-order. That one hopefully will go down even more before March.

Alice is ahead right now 45%-44% over Watchmen. I'd like to get in on the Abbott & Costello set and Zombieland.

It is only 6 episodes. Anything over $20 seems too much even for Blu.

LOL now it's back to Watchmen ahead 45-44. Looks like this will be a close one.

Well, I picked up 'Alice' when it dropped to $14.99 for the 3 disc set a couple of months ago, but would probably bite again if that one wins. It's for a Christmas present for my wife, so the other copy I can gift to someone else.

If 'Watchmen' wins then despite me just picking up the Dr Magento collectible for $8 from Best Buy, it has yet to be opened and I could also regift that too.

The 'Batman' one I ls just picked up, so there's that one out of the equation.

I'll probably go with the 'Watchmen' one.

Does anyone know what time the lightening deal would be?

*edit: Nevermind, I see. It'll be at 1230pm ET, which is right when I'll be at work (typical)

lizard 12-11-10 09:59 AM
