Re: The Ultimate Electronics BOGO Thread

Picked up 'Bridge On The River Kwai' and 'Grindhouse' with my second coupon. Had to argue a bit to get BOTRK allowed since it's a larger set, but I pointed out that it was only a single movie, and the price was only $25, so they let me. So at $12.50 for each title, I'm happy!

Cool, got the two new Criterions, Videodrome and Cronos, for $27.95 total this morning, as I was hoping. Also picked up Inception and Winter's Bone for $21.95 total.

Re: The Ultimate Electronics BOGO Thread

I plan to hit up UE for Inception and anything else new that is on my list. I have to say, I'm almost out of choices and I don't think there's anything new I'm buying coming out before the coupon expires.

Curious if you had to do separate transactions. Yesterday, I got a cashier who grumbled that I was using two, and would only do it on separate transactions. Two other cashiers there have no problem doubling and tripling them up. Ah, inconsistency.

Re: The Ultimate Electronics BOGO Thread

I'm curious if the cashiers have to keep the redeemed coupons to balance their drawers. The reason I ask is because it looked like my cashier yesterday tossed the coupon after using it, but I didn't see where he disposed of it (it may have been a coupon drawer, or even the trash can; I couldn't see over the counter).

Re: The Ultimate Electronics BOGO Thread

My cashier just tore up the coupons and tossed 'em. He manually discounted each free title.

/\ That's what I kind of thought, seeing as how some people have been able to get multiple titles free off of 1 coupon. I'm surprised that they are not balancing things at the end of the day and accounting for stuff like that.

Yep. YMMV depending on the store and who is working. Someone a few posts back was able to buy blu-ray box sets using the coupon. I have been denied that at 2 stores in Colorado. Just depends on who is working and how informed they are. Supposedly, a memo was sent to stores saying to not allow customers to buy blu-ray box sets with the coupon.

But, a blu-ray BOGO coupon is still pretty good, even if it is not for box sets. And in defense of UE, it does say "movies" on the coupon.

Re: The Ultimate Electronics BOGO Thread

They've saved every coupon I've used. They slide it in the drawer, I'm assuming under the cash.

I've been able to use multiple coupons on one transaction, just never more than 2 movies per coupon.

Re: The Ultimate Electronics BOGO Thread

My local store got an influx of Shrek: The Whole Story at $38.95, so I picked it up along with a free copy of The Girl Who Played with Fire.

I'm figuring now that I'll use my final few BOGO coupons for Blus that are either on sale or have a low probability of price-dropping later, like Girl Who. I had been considering The Road and Insomnia, but I wouldn't be surprised to see those come down later.

This is pretty much the theory I've been working on the whole time. Either high-priced movies or those that aren't coming down in the near future, or both. You don't see many strong price drops on Criterions and some classics, so I've stuck with those.

Re: The Ultimate Electronics BOGO Thread

Heh, good luck with that. If I had more, I'd use them and just put the movies on eBay. I bought 2 copies of "The Pacific" (before using the coupon for boxsets were supposedly banned), and put one on eBay. Almost made up what I spent for the copy I kept for myself. In the end, "The Pacific" cost me $13 after all the eBay and PayPal fees were deducted.

Re: The Ultimate Electronics BOGO Thread

yeah, I've only got 8 of them left. gonna have to ration the next week or so. gonna use another 3 of them up this week (The Town, Owls of Gahoole, Despicable Me, the A-team Nanny mchee returns and something else to pair it with).... and if they allow it on TV sets at mine I'll snag 24 season 8.. then next week I've got a decent chunk too. (matador paired with Hardboiled, Wall Street 2, Salt and something else tickling at the back of my mind.

They were giving them out earlier this week if you asked for them after checking out. I think they are running very low on them... my clerk had to go to a different register to give me one. I also have a stack of free Blu-ray rental coupons. I'm not paying for rentals for a while as I think I have 20 of them and there's no limit per account.

My last trip I picked up 5 of those Universal comedies to replace my HD DVDS at $5 a pop along with Ice Age 2. Yes, they did it with one coupon... but it is definitely hit or miss. $30 but, I have 6 free movie tickets now. 5 for Little Fockers and 1 for Gulliver or Narnia.
