Re: Borders (B&M) 50% off coupon 11/24 only

Went back for Metropolis, but someone had already snagged it.
Turned out to be all for the best though because I was able to get S5 of Doctor Who for $36 + tax.
I still don't know how or why I'm getting the extra 10% + discount, but it's great.

There were a TON of good books I would have picked up with this. I could probably still squeeze in one more visit to another location, but it would probably be a wash with the cost of the gas.

This turned out to be a GREAT coupon- although that extra 10% is what really pushed it over the top for me.

I bought Lymelife for $7.49 on a blind buy. I've never even heard of it, but it has a good cast... I'm jealous of those of you getting your $10 added back to your account. I used it yesterday, buying Metropolis, but with the 50% off coupon instead of 33% I would have saved another 6 bucks...

Sounds like you have Borders Rewards Plus. If you didn't pay for it, perhaps you've made enough purchases there that they gave it to you for free? Or maybe they just made a mistake on your account...

Sadly my local store didn't have much of a blu-ray selection. I contemplated getting The Maltese Falcon (I was really hoping for Forbidden Planet) but in the end bought a book as well (the fantastic "Making of Empire Strikes Back"). The hard thing now is to decide whether to keep it or give it as a gift to my brother.

Honestly, I can't have spent more than $50 there the whole year.
Prior to going there in October to pick up The Exorcist (and finding I had $5 in reward bucks to use towards it that I wasn't expecting), I hadn't set foot in a store since February.
I had had the B&N membership from last November, so I had even less of a reason to go to Borders this year.
I have no clue why I'm now getting the + discount.

Of course, after yesterday, the points moot, because unless they kick out another 40-50% off coupon, I won't be going back again until February at the earliest. So while it's obviously a mistake, at least I won't be abusing it.

BTW- great buy on The Making Of Empire for $45. That is a fine book. Wish I had got the previous one while it was still in HC. Kept expecting it to hit Half-Price books every year since, but no luck.

That's exactly what I did except I saved an additional 10% as a Rewards Plus member. I checked the stock of local stores first thing this morning and only one had the BD version in stock. I reserved it and picked it up on my way out of town.

Re: Borders (B&M) 50% off coupon 11/24 only

My local Borders did away with their dedicated DVD section (they used to keep the good stuff in locked glass-faced cases) so it was slim pickings. Settled on a nice LEGO set since those things are usually hard to find at a discount. Weird to see people actually queued up to buy stuff at Borders. There was actually a line of 20-30 people, most with one item and a computer printout in hand

Picked up Mars Attacks but almost didn't. Went in about 3 pm yesterday and there was a huge line. Guess the coupon worked.

How did you manage to do that? The full list for that item is $59.99 and even with the 50% off coupon you're still paying $29.99 (which is $5.00 more than Target was offering this for last week).

At my Borders they had a sale sticker for $39.99. The price was hand written on all the copies they had. The stickers might have been left on from another sale. They honored the price no problem.

I don't know about anyone else, but my Thanksgiving Day newspaper came with another 50% off coupon through this Sunday the 28th. It doesn't say anything about needed a rewards membership but does state it can only be used once in the period by the customer.

Saw this. May have to make another run.
