Re: Hastings / gohastings.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Thanks! Did some TV seasons: Final Seasons of Parks & Rec, Justified, 4th of Covert Affairs, and 1st of Penny Dreadful (blu) averaged $10 each.

Re: Hastings / gohastings.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Thanks for the alert, asianxcore!

I picked up a couple of Criterions (Dazed and Confused, The Fantastic Mr. Fox) and some TV shows that I've been wanting for a long time (Night Gallery Seasons 1 & 2, Alfred Hitchcock Presents Season 1, and Kolchak, The Night Stalker: The Complete Series). Like those for xfilekr, they averaged $10 each plus shipping.

It blew a giant hole in my media budget, but B1G1 sales at GoHastings are very, very infrequent.

Re: Hastings / gohastings.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Looks like the code is acting a bit funny on the site. Not working with any combination of used DVDs or BDs.

I got in an order early this morning but let's hope this gets ironed out.

It appears as if they've changed the sale. When I was looking a short time ago, I noticed it excluded previously viewed BDs. Now the small print says, excludes BDs.

And now, the website doesn't respond to the code

Works for me.

But I noticed on several television sets the price is about $10-$15 MORE for the USED.

Yeah, now it does. But almost everything's priced outrageously...pass

Some great deals were to be had when this sale went up late last night. It wouldn't surprise me if this code wasn't supposed to apply to Blu-rays in the first place.

Re: Hastings / gohastings.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

I've put in a bunch of orders for DVDs, but haven't found much I wanted on BD.

I did pick up Horsehead, Motel Hell, & Zebraman 2: Attack On Zebra City though!

Interesting... I have a couple of BD TV seasons in my cart and they work with the code.

I just checked again, and now the wording is back to "previously viewed blu-rays" being excluded. So just ignore what I said before.

Nice pick-up on Horsehead if you're into arty Euro horror with some great make-up work.

Used bd's in my wishlists still way over priced. I tried some "previously viewed" ones & code did not work like you said.

no doubt about prices being bumped steeply prior to a sale in typical Hastings fashion, but there were still several deals to be had if you searched well enough. I got lucky to catch scent of the code last night when it just came about and made out pretty well with the following haul (lets see how many ship):

Hunger (Criterion) - $12
Paths of Glory (Criterion) - $12
John Cassavetes: Five Films (Criterion) - $38
Master of the House (Criterion) - $12
Godzilla (Criterion) - $12
Death Proof - $4.50
Repo! The Genetic Opera - $2.40
Elvis on Tour (Warner Digibook) - $10.50
Mad Max Collector's Edition (ShoutFactory) - $6.30
Postman (Kevin Costner) - $4.50
Casablanca 70th Anniversary Limited Edition (the big box) - $9.60
DisneyNature Bears - $8
Disney's Cinderella Trilogy (Jewel Box Edition) - $24
Sherlock Holmes (1922 - John Barrymore) - $10.80 (my 4th attempt at getting this, wish me luck)
No Country For Old Men (2 disc Collector's Edition) - $8.10
Fast & Furious 1-6 Collection (the fancy one with the wheels) - $20
Iron Man 3 - $4.19
Under Seige (am pretty discerning :-)) - $2.40

Re: Hastings / gohastings.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

and the fuckups continue, in true Hastings style. For the 3rd time, I received the 2014 Godzilla instead of the Criterion one. And they sent me the 'no country of old men/gone baby gone' two pack instead of the 2 disc special edition of NCFOM. And no sign of shipping for the 1922 John Barrymore Sherlock Holmes (on two earlier occasions, they sent me the Robert Downey Jr version and once canceled it due to no stock).

But the most deplorable part this time round has been the packing - multi pack gift set packaging simply thrown into a bubble wrap and shipped. The Fast and Furious 6 disc Special edition (enclosed in the wheel) packaging was virtually destroyed in the bubble wrap. so many yet to arrive and I shudder to think in what condition.

now gotta go deliver USPS mail to 3 of my neighbors - mail man must have been pissed with my orders and dropped off neighbors' mails into my box. first time I have received three different household mails :-)

Never order any older movie that has the same name as a newer movie from GoHastings. I thought everyone knew that by now.

I was online when Hunger and Master of the House went live last day of sale.

Yeah they sent me one wrong movie too.It was the free one(cost $4).They use to let me keep their mistakes.
But they sent me a return label for The Sentinel.
Wonder how they are going to handle
the returns on this sale.
Everything else I order looks in good shape except for Samurai Deeper Kyo: The Complete Series(DVD) I received.
The disc look very used, and I might return it.

its always luck of the draw. but don't they have a SKU based stock pick ? or is that too much to ask ? you search by SKU number on the site, yet the picker goes by title ? :-) no hassle returns, so its not a big issue. but feels like a tease many times

sorry man, no hard feelings I hope :-) no this wasn't the BOGO sale, this was from the recent '40% off 3 used' sale. Received Master of the House today

Re: Hastings / gohastings.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

BTW in the last 4 days, I have received about 4 one time use '30% off used' coupons (each good for a max of two titles). if others have received them as well, want to let you know that they work on PV also.

Must have Gohastings being tight. They had new stock for the BOGO sale.
But they most have put A hold on the Criterions and who know what else until the sale was over.
I did pick up 3 criterion blu for about $11 each including shipping before the
their stock went down to almost nothing.

laidbacklarkin:and updates on your returns?

Sent in The Sentinel, but no refund so far from gohastings

Re: Hastings / gohastings.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

^^^^

This is why I ignore these goHastings sales for the most part. Their prices are just OK, even with coupons, their packaging sucks, the condition is suspect and you may not even get the right discs.

I remember several years ago, when the Star Trek TNG DVD sets were on sale during BF. They took a $300 DVD set that had hard plastic packaging and just wrapped it in brown paper and sent it media mail. they couldn't even put it in a box. Mine arrived with only a little damage, but many people had sets that were totally crushed. WTF were they thinking, if they were thinking AT ALL.

I have gotten some good deals though, but mostly on single new BDs that were somehow heavily discounted, but I rarely even pay attention to these used sales.

Re: Hastings / gohastings.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

The orders I've placed over the years were almost all onesy-twosey single titles (used) and I have had an issue in maybe one out of twenty. Most of those were damaged cases (replaced the case). The prices were so low that those couple of times I received something incorrect or damaged beyond repair I didn't bother returning the item and just ordered another. But I can see being hesitant on larger set-type items as they are less likely to come through undamaged and a generic Blu-ray case will not suffice as a replacement.

Re: Hastings / gohastings.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Just curious, I have never ordered from them before and have read some of the shipping concerns here. What about their used products? I see some great prices and they state their used items are in "like new" condition, but is that usually the case?

I tend to stay away from used but as curious about them since they have that guarantee.

Disregard. I read a few more pages back and read their description of "used-like new." Looks like I will be staying away from the used products.
