well fuck. All the clerks I pass can't scan the coupon for shit. It just doesn't read or whatever..either way it leads to them reading the fine print. I get my coupon put in but...they pay attention.

So far today I got in Southlake and Denton (both in Texas btw)

Seven Samurai
House
Charade
Paths of Glory
The Darjeeling Limited
In The Realm of The Senses

total (of 2 combined orders + a $5 coupon in each order of 3 items)
=$110.95

I still got a good deal right?

I got realm of senses, house both on blu and yojimbo/sanjuro blu ray set after coupons in store for 64 dollars for everything as well as they put a copy of antichrist on hold for me when they get it in stock next week :)

Picked up seven samurai and house on blu. Walking out I spot that fat don Martin book set for $25. I hate to say it but I'm more psyched about getting the Martin collection for cheap. :)

Debated at work throughout the day on whether it was worth the ~2 1/2 hour round trip to use the $5 coupons. I'm VERY glad I decided to hit the road today.

I found everything I wanted. The clerk was very nice, and let me ring all five of them up separately with no hassle. I ended up with (all on blu-ray):

House, Paths of Glory, The Seventh Seal, and M for $13.91 each.
Yojimbo/Sanjuro boxset for $28.34

To top it all off I took a wrong turn on the way there and ended up in a Kohls. I remembered that I'd had a shirt to bring back in my trunk for ages so I took it in there. I used the money I got from that on gas and Wendy's. Today was a good day. :)

I liked Black Orpheus but didn't love it. My appreciation for Brazilian music and culture probably made me like it more than I would have otherwise. Though I learned after watching the film that Black Orpheus won the 1959 Golden Palm at Cannes over 400 Blows (of ALL landmark films, c'mon!), that doesn't factor into my judgment.

They are two very different films. Black Orpheus has a lot of singing and dancing and the story (such as it) just sort of meanders along. I couldn't get into it, although I loved the Cocteau trilogy.

Keep checking ... B&N stores are very good about replenishing stock. When an item runs out, I can usually find it in store again within a week.

Last sale, they only had 1 of each blu-ray. I bought 1 a day for a couple weeks, and by the end, they had a full stock of all the blu-rays again.

You can give Black Orpheus a trial viewing on Netflix, it's a streaming title.

I said it before the last sale, but I'll say it again. If you're a Speedy Rewards member, you can buy $25 Barnes & Noble gift cards from Speedway gas stations and earn bonus points for doing so, instead of spending your money directly at B&N. I've earned thousands of bonus points essentially for free, since I was going to spend all this money at B&N anyway.

So, these $39.99 blus were 34.99 yesterday, i'm pretty sure.
Had Thin Red line and Charade in my cart yesterday and they were $35.

Got really excited, but then remembered that there are no Speedways around me.

But there are possibly other similar point, rebate, GC deals out there.

I've been eyeing the Don Martin set for the last few months. NOW I'm really excited about BN (I'm also going to get Wings of Desire and Yojimbo/Sanjuro).

I called yesterday and had them hold all the Blu Criterions that released since the last sale. Swept by and grabbed them all tonight using the $5 coupons + member discount. I love this sale!

Che (seems like I'm the only who was interested in this?)
The Thin Red Line

Both are blind buys, though I typically really enjoy these types of long epic dramas.

So is the $5 off coupon that is working the $5 off one DVD or the $5 off $50 or more purchase?

$5 off one DVD worked fine on the Last Emperor BD for me earlier today. I signed up online for 2 months free, but didn't have a number when I got to the store, but they told me they would still take 10% off and then they took my coupon without any problems. First time I've bought a criterion there and relieved to get it for $14.34 out the door. Wojder if I should have gotten the 4 disc DVD version with the TV version. What do you guys think?

I considered the 4 disc version but went with the Blu-ray instead. Here's why: The longer TV version was created to fulfill a contractual obligation and the director didn't care for it so I don't feel the need to see it.
