That's a relief. Looks like I'll be all set with the $5 coupons then, as long as I don't get the same cashier every time.

yeah, I was worried at first too. On as side note I had my cashier take all 4 of my coupons in one transaction this morning. was very nice

Brilliant. I just got a $10 gift card and will try my luck in store tomorrow.

word of warning. the membership # won't work in-stores until 4 days after you sign up. what you'll have to do is get the guy at the music/video dept to call into the membership customer service to verify it and to give him a dummy membership # to use so you can use it in-store. happened to me this morning. I signed up 3 days ago so my number will be available to use normally tomorrow (though the dummy # worked so I picked up my 4 titles)

The reviews of Brakhage make it sound like the Matrix (I can't tell you what the Matrix is you just have to see it for yourself); worth $31 as a blind buy? Is there anything to compare it to?

Just got back from clearing out my local B&N, found a great cashier that had no problem doing 8 different transactions each with its own coupon.

I ended up with
The Darjeeling Limited
Red Shoes
Seven Samurai
Breathless
The Thin Red Line
Paths of Glory
House
Crumb

Total cost: $113.91

I love this sale

No. :)

You can find a number of Brakhage's shorts on YouTube if you'd like a sample.

I signed up for and received my membership number on Friday. Should I just wait until tomorrow to go to the store?

So you were able to reserve a copy in-store even though it showed out of stock on the website? I entered my zip code and the closest 2 stores show out of stock and there isn't another option I can find that will get me around this to reserve a copy. Maybe I just misunderstood your post.

you can go in just fine. just have them call the 800 customer service # to verify your account # and they'll give the cs person a dummy # to input

ahhh, it shows out of stock. right now there is a bug that when you search by zip code it shows up as in stock, then when you hit the reserve in-store button it comes up and has a little banner across the top that says that they've checked the inventory at that store and it's out of stock. Just enter in your contact info and hit submit, then it'll actually have someone check inventory and put it aside for you. the problem is that that little banner saying it's out of stock is a bug happening for every title

Alright, thanks. I may not end up going until tomorrow anyways, unless I find a store nearby that has a copy of The Thin Red Line. I think I'll just call to make sure and if not see if they can order one for me. Thanks again!

Once I become a member, I have 30 days to cancel right? Do I just go into the store and ask for a refund with my recipt?

Yes, members can acquire Blu-Rays for $13 each after a combination of the member discount and coupons.

Why would you want a refund? With the $5 coupons, in-store discount, bi-annual Criterion sales, B2G1 sales, 50% off sales, it's more than worth $25.

I assume from your post you didn't sign up for the 2 month free trial? Did you purchase the membership online or at a store? If you purchased it at a store you need to go back to the store to cancel. If you purchased online you have to call a toll free number you can find in the online membership contract.

Went to a B&N I wasn't familiar with and didn't want to push my luck so only picked up 1 with a coupon.

My first draw of the sale:

House BD

Are the prices equal in store to what they are online? I remember last Christmas having a problem at B&N with the price being cheaper online than in store and they wouldn't match it. It wasn't a criterion release though it was a BBC box set.

Depends on where you are. Here in LA, it's 14.27 for a 39.99 title, still an amazing deal!

It's $13 + whatever your local tax is.

So....why are the cashiers stacking up the coupons if they're not supposed to? They're just not paying attention and just do it?

I don't think there's any rhyme or reason to it. I also don't think there's a formal policy or training put down to store level, so you just have a situation where clerks use their best judgment. If it scans, it must be good!

The more senior clerks (Department Managers?) seem to be the ones who read the small print carefully and enforce the "one per" rule.

I hardly ever post (trolling for years now...) but this story was too good of a price not to share...

Grabbed House blu-ray, headed to the counter with 5$ coupon pulled up on my iPhone...didn't want to press my luck with stacking just yet...the cashier seemed to have no idea what she was doing...had to call the front to figure out how to use the coupon at all...then in her tinkering the 5$ off...she made the price 5$...so I just payed $5.41 for House blu-ray...I'm sure it was a one time mistake and will never happen again...I just had to share...
