Yep, I'm sure.

AAA Question...

Anyone know... can you use AAA discount in-store or is that strictly online?

Re: Barnes & Noble Criterion Sale

I thought you could show your AAA card in store, but I have never tried it.

Pretty light sale haul for me. Ordered 9 Blu-rays online. Still have a few from July to watch. And then there's the usual High profile qtr 4 releases I have begun buying so I don't expect to keep going back to the BN well.

It doesn't seem like Criterion is releasing any DVD only titles these days. Louie Bluie I guess . . .

I picked up Darjeeling Limited the other day for $13. The clerk had the problem with the coupon not scanning and another employee just told her to key it in. This one bluray is probably going to be it for me for this sale since I still have a huge stack of unwatched Criterions from the last sale, although I do want Modern Times and Night of the Hunter.

Has anybody been successful using a $5 for a ship-to-home web order made in-store? I was thinking about trying to do that for A Christmas Tale.

I know the 15% coupon would have worked fine with a ship-to-home order, but I forgot to bring one with me when I was out at B&Ns this weekend.

Thanks in advance!

I had success doing this from within a store for The Thin Red Line---which was/is impossible to find anywhere in LA. The woman was very nice about, likely because she saw that the title I wanted was no where to be found at any other store. Could be a similar case for A Christmas Tale.

It's made very clear on the AAA site that it's online only.

I just did a few ship to home orders over the week end with the coupons. However be aware the fine print does mention the coupons are not eligible for ship to home orders, and it is possible a store could deny you if they strictly enforce the fine print restrictions. However I've had good luck with stores allowing me to use them.

Thanks for the quick responses Jfunk and Laser. Just ordered A Christmas Tale during lunch -- no problems at all. $14.99 + tax (no member discount on online orders).

On a side note, I have never had a problem with these coupons, and I have been using them for a few years now. The key is not to be greedy and just do one or two at a time.

Are your ship to home orders listed in your account order status section? My ship to home order isn't and I'm curious if that's normal.

It's normal. They don't get listed with your online account. However when I got home I did receive an email confirmation for the order almost like it was ordered online, but it did note the order was paid in store. <strike>Unfortunately it doesn't look like you can even check the order status online using the order number and email address either.</strike> Scratch that last statement. You can check order status using your email address you placed the order with at the store and the order number on the email confirmation. For some reason when I tried using the number on the store copy it didn't work. Looks like they use different numbers for the store copy and email copy.

Thanks.
I did figure out how to view the status online. Sign out of your account, click My Account/Order Status, but instead of logging in, enter the email address and order #. It shows the shipping info, status and price paid but doesn't tell you what you ordered. Instead it says "The details of this item are not displayed to maintain your privacy". As long as the status is there I'm good.

I have a question not about barne and noble but still Criterion related.

I consider upgrading my current "movie" and wonder if I'd benefit much from it.

I currently have a 20inch 1680x1050 monitor and a 2.1 logitech z-2300 speaker set.

From your numerous experiences, would you recommend to put the emphasis on the monitor, getting a bigger 1920x1080 possibly LED monitor, or on the sound system, getting a 5.1 surround set instead.

Your recommendations would be much appreciated !

...a 20 inch? Wow. Yeah...you need a bigger monitor..or HDTV. I have a 32 inch TV which is also my monitor. Makes a lot of difference I'm sure compared to a 2o inch.

I just got two emails telling me that both Antichrist and The Thin Red Line are available for pick up tomorrow. The Thin Red Line wasn't scheduled to arrived until at least the 23rd, so this was a pleasant surprise. If you're still looking for a copy I'd suggest ordering in-store and hopefully you'll get it as soon as I did.
