By the end of this sale, I won't have a single Criterion on my wish list, other than the announced ones for the upcoming months. I never thought I'd see that day!

wish list in general or just Criterion BDs? Cuz for me...it's the Criterion BDs I'm almost totally done with.

Really hoping they extend the sale a couple days to include the America: Lost and Found box.

Second go around. Love this sale.

When did Criterion release Toy Story 3!? ;)

My pic is only notable for the fact that I found Thin Red Line in stores.

They should be able to do this at the media department register. If they can't or won't, go to the main Customer Service desk.

Seven Samurai, Ran, Kagemusha, and Rashomon are essential, IMHO. I'm not familiar with his non-samurai films, maybe others here can provide guidance. Ran is available on Criterion DVD only. It has a white background with a "paint splatter" effect under the graphics. If you want it on Blu-ray, you have to get the Lionsgate release.

If all else fails, and you want them NOW, $18 is still a damn good price. Otherwise, they'll be available during the June sale.

P.S. - Put a space between your paragraphs next time! ;)

I'd be curious to see some overall sales figures for Thin Red Line, it seems to be flying out of the box.

I think there was a supply problem to begin with. They didn't seem to have many when the sale started, and I've been told their warehouse is back-ordered with no expected ship date.

I'm happy I reserved the only one in-stock in my area the night before the sale started. :)

I made my first buy of this sale yesterday. The War Trilogy, Bigger Than Life (the first time I've seen the Blu in a store), and Charade Blu. I'll be getting Antichrist, Modern Times, and Night of the Hunter, that leaves me about $50 in my budget for this sale which I have to decide on.

I checked the store inventory for The Thin Red Line BD Sunday night and the closest store showed it in stock so I went on my lunch break Monday. I looked all over for it and couldn't find it. I asked the guy working in Movies/Music if they had any and he reached behind the counter and handed me a copy. He said they only had one and he had set it aside for himself. I offered to let him keep it but he insisted I buy it because he would have the opportunity to get another copy before the sale ended. I hope that's still true.
I've dealt with 3 different guys working that department in that store all have all been very nice, helpful, and had no issues taking multiple coupons.

Fail--
I made my first attempt at the sale tonight. The clerk told me that I could only use one coupone, fine. Then when my brand new, 2-month free membership number did not show up in her register, I showed her the print out of my email. She called someone and then told me that I could only use the coupon after my 2-month period is up, then pay for the $25 fee. I told her to forget it and grabbed my coupon and left. I will try again later with a different clerk.

Re: Barnes & Noble Criterion Sale

^ That sucks. Hopefully when you get your card in the mail using coupons should not be a problem. I have been pleasantly surprised at how accomodating CSRs have been with using multiple coupons, separate transactions etc.

Their prices may be high in general, but they get an A+ from me in customer service.

Thanks for your help. I will look for those Kurosawa movies later in the week and give the ship to home using coupons option a try too.

And look I paragraphed it :)

quick question:

Are we able to use the same coupons that we've already used before for the next purchase?

I'm on hold for TTRL. I can't go back in until this or Modern Times or Antichrist are released. C'mon, CC! I want my TTRL!

You can't literally use the same ones because they keep the coupons. :)
But you can print 30 copies of each coupon like I do. They don't keep track of which coupons you've used.

the ship date I got in an email stated the 23rd of this month - but I'm not holding my breath.

But he's gotten worse, and this film sucked. I hated it. And I am not alone. so be careful with this one.

Having just seen Antichrist, I agree with you wholeheartedly. I'm glad I watched before blind buying. And yes, I didn't care for this film either.

I actually like Von Trier but I didn't like Antichrist at all. The only good part was the opening scene, but that's not worth $20.

Are you sure those were Blu-rays? My store had a bunch on DVD, which at first glance look very similar in their Criterion-style packaging.

Finally able to track down House in the LA area, but there are still no signs of TTRL. Just to be safe, I ordered it online and will cancel it if one pops up in stores. I'm hoping there will be some with Antichrist on Tuesday.
