I pulled the trigger on this as it's the cheapest I've seen the new packaging.

I won't be happy if I open it up and it's the old version...

I don't know the current price, but I got the UK release for way cheaper (around $90 shipped, I think) from Amazon.co.uk in early July.

And I love the new UK packaging which consists of easily accessible, BD keepcases packed inside a nice, fairly sturdy, and attractive box. It also comes with a nice, glossy booklet that includes, among other things ... an episode guide!

One nice earmark to this new packaging, along with the individual releases that have been coming out, is that an episode listing does come printed on the individual digipack foldouts.

This does not include the webisodes or The Plan, correct?

It does come with The Plan, and it does come with all of the webisodes except for "The Face of the Enemy" ones. No dvd box set contains those because of rights issues.

Worth holding out for the next edition over?

You can find them if you know where to look, and they're not super critical. Of all the webisode series they've done, I liked this one the least.

You got a good deal on the UK version. For a while I had it in my cart at 89 pounds - which after subtracting VAT and adding shipping, came to around $132. Currently the price had shot back up and is around $175-$180 shipped.

I've spend a good bit in a lot of other things we have needed at home, and not quite sure if I am going to bite on this one...it is a great deal none-the-less.

I've never seen this show before, but I'm going to hold off to blind buy it until it's sub-$100. I'm still upset over missing out on the $50 deal for the old set from Universal's online store by literally seconds, so I can wait for a lower price.

If it were a resolvable issue, they would have resolved it by now, IMO. I wouldn't hold out much hope of a new edition with these.

If they do manage to figure it out, I'd guess you'd see them on something else -- an easter egg on a Caprica release, or packaged with the potential new spin-off years from now:

$139 still seems too high - $99 is better.

At $33.24 per season, not a bad deal (and that's not including "The Plan"), especially since it seems the sets out now are going for between $39.99 (season 4.5) to $81.99(!) (season 2).

Finally bit on this deal. I had almost picked up the previous set at $150.

You can probably wait and find it used at that price some time. It's not like Blu-Rays scratch easily so you could probably pick up a used set in new condition.

No. They have a scratch resistant coating on them. You'd really have to be abusing the disc or trying to scratch it.

I would be more worried about the box or the season packs beat to shit than the discs being scratched. This is why I went ahead and purchased it new. Besides, too many resale places out there think they can get close to new value for used media. I have seen on several occasions at used places here some used movies marked higher than they were priced new at Walmart just feet away.

I tend to agree. Unless you can see it for yourself, I wouldn't take a chance getting something like this from a third party seller unless **maybe** I have dealt with them before on a few occasions.

BSG isn't just great sci-fi, it was great television. If you like both, you should get it.

And if you don't like it I bet you could break even selling it "like new" online. But it was easily one of the best series in the past 10 years.
