They gave me the same line minutes ago, but I told them I had heard you could exchange it for a non-rental copy. Then I said there was no indicationg that I was buying a rental. The lady was super nice, said she'd send me out the blu + dvd, and to keep the one I already have. Whoa!

Mine have "rental copy" labels around the donut hole fo the disc. The discs themselves look pretty pristine. I can see them replacing crapped up discs with new replacements but I think asking for a replacement solely on the fact that this was a rental is a little too demanding. If the disc plays fine, looks fine, and comes in a regular case, does it really matter if it was a rental compared to just used?

It should matter at least if it is advertised as BD + DVD.

I ordered Invictus and Percy Jackson and received rental copies of both (single discs) so I called to ask about the discrepancy between what I received and what it was advertised (2 discs). The nice lady I talked to just credited me back for those two. On the other hand, I also ordered Green Zone and it arrived as a single disc but I didn't complain as it was not advertised as 2 discs on their website. I guess I can now wait for the 3 disc Percy Jackson version to go down to $10 before i buy it (as a gift, of course).

True, if advertised as 2 discs you should get both. I was under the impression people were ordering used but then complaining it was a rental copy. A complaint that I felt was unwarranted. But at all times you should get all the discs advertised.

i think the difference was that i wanted them to send me the 2 discs ones for all 5 of mine and you only had one.

I am waiting to see what comes for "Sherlock Holmes" which is supposely a 2 Disc, one a dvd. I got 2 discs for Transporter 3 but second is digital download which was useless with no code insert.

Man, where was this kind of rational thinking when there was the big sale at MovieGallery.com Some over there were like, just because it states it has that many disc(s) does not mean you should expect to get it. You are getting from a rental place, so you should not expect to get it was their rationale. And obviously as some have said here then it should not be listed that way. Too funny.

I ordered Sherlock Holmes during their Buy 2 Get 1 for $1 sale and received a one-disc copy with "Rental" on the cover and the disc. Called them up to ask about it, and the person I talked to had me send back my copy and sent me a new(!) copy.

Got all my titles today, and none were rental copies. One didn't have the digital copy, but who needs that? Appaloosa came in a DVD case, but the sleeve is in there, so I can easily transfer it over to a Blu-ray case.

Re: 25% off Previewed Blu-rays & DVDs @ gohastings.com

Here is my email to the company:

Dear: gohasting.com

I placed my first order with your company at the recommendation of a fellow movie lover.

But I have to say I am very disappointed on the products received!!
(1) No where in the "Pre-View" disc listing state that these items were "RENTAL EXCLUSIVE COPIES"!!
The covers are different than the retail versions!
"The Crazies" cover has a "White Stripe" where it says "Bluray + Digital Copy" not the "BluRay" Blue Stripe
[ Retail image: http://upcomingdiscs.com/ecs_covers/...-ray-large.jpg ]

[ Rental image: http://images2.blu-ray.com/movies/co...518_medium.jpg ]

"Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" it has a gold stripe across the bottom which says "RENTAL EXCLUSIVE"
[RETAIL IMAGE AS DISPLAYED ON YOUR WEB SITE: http://toyxplosion.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/Percy-Jackson-the-Olympians-The-Lightning-Thief-Blu-ray-combo.JPG ]

[RENTAL EXCLUSIVE: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg ]

(2) I feel that at least one of the items received, I did not receive all of the product as listed on your web site:
http://www.gohastings.com/product/MO.../280361521.uts
Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
Previously Viewed - Blu-ray [2 Discs] [Includes Digital Copy] [Blu-ray/DVD]
With "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" I did not receive the "Digital Copy or the DVD" as advertised & listed on your web site! I only received the single Blu-Ray disc!

avid

Re: 25% off Previewed Blu-rays & DVDs @ gohastings.com

well, it looks like my Sherlock Holmes was a Rental only copy which was on disc and cover art. I called them and they will send another copy out with the dvd. They just told me to keep the rental.

I'll see what I get.

I'll bet that for the next sale, Gohastings.com will clearly indicate that "previously viewed" means "former rental copy"

I think that should be assumed with those prices. They cancelled my order for Duplicity. No big deal but for $4 i wouldn't mind owning that.

You would think but I doubt it. It's not like this is the first time they've had this sale and had these issues. They act as if they don't care.
