I kind of agree. Pretty low price. I just picked it up - I initially had the DVD but got rid of it. It'll be nice to have the blu-ray.

Season 7 of 24 is also at this price.

To anyone that orders this, I bought it during the last Gold Box deal and it did not come with the episode guide insert (some others' did).

I called the FOX hotline to see if I could get one sent to me and they told me I had to email the request to [email protected] to see if its still available. I did and they sent me out the insert in about a week.

Missed this last time it was a gold box. This is right around the same price. It is now mine!

Blind buy for me. I bought Serenity last week and watched it twice already. If Firefly is half as good as Serenity, I'm sure to enjoy it. Threw in Dr. Horrible, too.

I'd like to know this as well. I'd assume it is, since the DVDs look pretty awful from what I recall, but if the BDs are equally bad, I'll pass.

What did you like about the move? The big action sequences? Uh oh - There's action in the series, but it was amped up for the movie.

Did you like the characters, the dialog, the humor, the sense of "small group of underdogs living on their own against an overwhelming gov't that wants them to 'toe-the-line'?" In that case, you'll love the series.

There was no remastering done. There's some extra content which is my primary interest, but according to the review from HiDef Digest the picture is an improvement over the SD release:

Given the limitations of the source material (35mm live action and SD CGI) it's only going to look so good without extensive (and expensive) work.

Well, if you end up liking the show (which you should) then there are things in the movie that might piss you off in hindsight.

I like the show alot (the movie not so much, at least the ending) but I just got done watching the whole series on DVD last year so I'm in no hurry.

I saw Serenity before I saw Firefly and went back and watched the series twice. Of course I've rewatched Serenity many more times. So yes, the movie is different, but if you like it you really need to see Firefly.

I think it's the same transfer from the HD DVD version (which I own and won't be upgrading until my HD DVD player spontaneously combusts). It looks great.

The movie makes much more sense if you watch the entire series first.

That's what I heard, but I bought Serenity on blu REALLY cheap at Fry's, and wanted to get an idea of whether I'd like it before I threw down more money on the series.

I can attest to that. I watched Serenity without having watched Firefly first and didn't understand a thing.

Luckily by the time I started watching the series I'd completely forgotten what happened in the movie.

To me the show felt like "what if we made a show about Han Solo before Star Wars, but without aliens." I mean that in a good way of course!
