Well, if you end up liking the show (which you should) then there are things in the movie that might piss you off in hindsight.
I like the show alot (the movie not so much, at least the ending) but I just got done watching the whole series on DVD last year so I'm in no hurry.

I missed the $7.99 deal on Serenity BD from Frys.
I'm planning to pick it up from Borders by combining their 40%-off coupon (good through Saturday) with the $5-off Universal coupon (from Facebook). If all goes well, the total should come to $11.19. Borders accepts manufacturers coupons, but they may balk at the "regular price" wording on the coupon.

I watched the first 2 episodes of this from netflix while waiting for mine to be here Tuesday and it was really hard not to watch over 2 episodes as I want to see the rest in HD. The show is actually quite good I think.
