Screenshots look solid and the blu-ray.com reviewer gave the transfer a 4/5. DVD Beaver said it was a bit soft but seemed to be true to the theatrical presentation.

I'm totally in for this. My daughter loves it too so it'll make for a nice movie night as summer arrives.

I dunno why but....I've never really liked this movie. I loved Pat Morita but dislike anything not involving him. I haven't seen it since I was a kid in the 90s so.....maybe I'll like it today.

I noticed this on Slickdeals while I was at work (I can't check DVD Talk there as it's blocked), but as my free Prime just expired I needed to find $15.01 more that I wanted, and after maybe 5 minutes of searching (the most I dare while at work) I couldn't find anything. I figured that the deal was going to be dead by the time I got home where I could consult my want lists and DVD Talk and probably come up with $15.01 of other things, and just like I thought the deal had just died when I got home. At least I wasn't mad or surprised because Amazon always does this, and it's too bad I couldn't have placed a bet on it.

So I just made a note in my BD want/price list that The Karate Kid BD was $9.99 at Amazon in May 09, and now I'll never buy it for any price above that. Not a big deal because I wasn't that big of a fan of it, and someday it'll be under $10 again.

My purchase strategy on Karate Kid BDs is very simple... $9.99 or less on the first one, $7.99 or less on the second, $5.99 or less on the third. When they hit that price, I plan to buy, but until then I won't... whether it takes weeks, months, years, or never we shall see. They are not movies that I care about that much to pay a premium or get too worried about... I have plenty of other stuff to watch.
