Re: Universal facebook five dollar coupon any BD

Well, the promotion's over. The coupons are good for another month, but there's no more voting / printing available.

Picked up "Eastern Promises" and "2 Fast 2 Furious" today for $9.99 each plus tax. I'm having a hell of a time finding "2 Fast" with the slipcover and digital copy though. Every store I've been to does not have it. And I wouldn't usually care that much, but I own all three other films with the slipcovers and digital copies, so I want them to match. I'll just hang onto it for now until I can find it somewhere else.

Probably will pick up "Shaun of the Dead" and "Seabiscuit" later this week, also for $9.99 each plus tax after coupon.

I also got this error and emailed Universal (through Facebook) about the problem. After a day or two, they emailed me back with a link to print the coupon. Not sure if this will still work though if the promotion's over.

I tried to use this coupon at "Ultimate Electronics" yesterday. I was told by a cashier that Ultimate does not accept manufacturer's coupons. I thought that was odd.

I could be 100% wrong (and I probably am) but isn't Dreamworks owned by Universal? Would I be able to use this coupon on Saving Private Ryan?

No, Universal USED to manufacture and distribute their home video titles, however that is now handled by Paramount (and has been for a few years now)....

Re: Universal facebook five dollar coupon any BD

FYI: I returned from Walmart in Thornton, Colorado where I was told that they no longer accept printed coupons. So, this and any other internet-obtained coupons are no longer accepted at Walmart (or maybe just my Walmart).

Sorry, actually it was in Westminster, Colorado.

Stores seem to not want to not take these coupons, but with manufactures going this way for coupons they really don't have a choice.

I'll zap an email to Walmart and see if I have the same result. Thanks, runner001.

Picked up Army of Darkness for $9.99 at Best Buy after the coupon.

Still have a few coupons left. Want to pick up An American Werewolf in London, but no Vegas Best Buy near me seems to have it.

Re: Universal facebook five dollar coupon any BD

I had 2 different Wal-Marts tell me that too. They would not accept internet coupons.

I actually had 3 items in my hand (2 Universal DVDs and a Powerade). The Powerade coupon I received by mail and it had a hologram. I got denied for all 3 coupons. They said I could have copied it. I explained to them about the hologram, but they looked at me like I had 3 heads. I told them I recieved it in the mail and they said they only take coupons from the Sunday newspaper ads. They obviolusly said I copied the $5 Universal coupons off the computer to whick i said I printed them from there and that is the only way to get them. They said no we can't take them.

Target on the other hand except the coupons ($5 Universal and Free Powerade) with no problem.

lol, most walmart's don't know their head from their ass so it's always YMMV for just about anything there.

Re: Universal facebook five dollar coupon any BD

Just to follow up, WalMart Customer Service got back to me, and these are the guidelines stores are supposed to follow:

- The coupon should be legible and say "Manufacturer Coupon". There should be a valid remit address for the manufacturer, to ensure the coupon can be processed for payment.
- The coupon should have a scan-able bar code.
- The coupon should have an expiration date.
- The coupon cannot be a photocopy.
- The limit is one coupon per item, per Customer.
- A Salaried Manager can refuse to accept a coupon if it does not meet any or all of these guidelines.

Clearly, the cashier doesn't know their own store policy. She didn't even examine the coupon to see of the above guidelines are met. I don't know if I want to go back and try to use it. Not really worth the hassle.

Re: Universal facebook five dollar coupon any BD

that's basically what they told me too (those guidelines). stores can deny people all they want. if you don't make a point to force them to follow their own policy, then they don't have to. it all boils down to how much of your time you're willing to spend arguing for something.

That's their "out" right there. The coupon has a barcode, but it isn't in WM's system. Therefore, they can say it isn't "scan-able"

But the coupon isn't in ANYBODY's system, including BB, target, etc. I think Universal messed up somewhere along the way because from what I've read in this thread, nobody seems to be able to scan this coupon.

Same thing happened when I tried to use it at Fred Meyer (NW chain, part of Kroger). They currently have all of their BD titles from 10% to 50% off. I got Casino (one of the 50%-off titles) for $6.49 (($22.99*.5)-$5). The clerk wasn't concerned about the "regular price" wording, but the fact that it wouldn't scan in their system. I did show her my second coupon and pointed out that it had a totally different number. I also told her I was willing to wait if she wanted to verify it via the veri-fi.com website. In the end, she reluctantly agreed to take it. I foresee problems if I try to use the second one though.

Re: Universal facebook five dollar coupon any BD

I used my coupon at Best Buy today on "Funny People", which was on sale for $17.99.

The cashier read the coupon carefully, and her only question was "How do you tell if it's a Universal Studios blu-ray?", so I showed her the Universal logo on the spine and she rang it up with no problem. $12.99 after discount. Very pleased that it went so smoothly.

Target has some new $9.99 titles now, I got Hulk with my last coupon, also spotted The Rundown. I was surprised the coupon scanned fine at Target the cashier just had to punch a key to accept it.

Can someone explain how to "become a fan"? I see the words with a little arrow next to it, but there is no button or hotlink anywhere that I can click on. I've hovered over the whole thing and nothing is there.
