How do they get your email address? I haven't used Redbox for a long time, but I thought you just swipe your c/c and that's it...

No, each time you swipe you're offered the optional opportunity to enter your email address. It's the only way to get a receipt (and coupon I imagine), as redbox machines don't have printers.

Just to clarify, when you enter your email it is linked to your credit card. The next time you swipe your credit card your email will pop up and it will say something to the effect of "is this you?"

And I've rented Julie & Julie and District 9 in the past couple of weeks through RedBox, no coupon here. Of course, I have absolutely no interest in buying a Michael Jackson movie so I'm not missing the coupons either.

I called redbox today on their toll free customer service line to inquire about the coupon... at first she acted like she had no idea what I was talking about... then changed completely and acted like she knew exactly what I was talking about...

said it doesn't come out until tuesday...

told her - I know that - I don't care about renting it - I want the coupon to buy it...

said the coupon doesn't come out until tuesday either and it should be emailed "soon after"...

we'll see

I rented District 9 last week and rented Moon just this morning. Used a free code for Moon so I don't know if that qualifies. Will keep and eye out Tuesday, but like most posters here, I am thoroughly uninterested in the product the coupon is advertising for.

I'm just curious about the procedure and whether a coupon will actually show up tomorrow or not.

I just came back from a Redbox. The screen says you have to rent any of those Sony Titles between Jan. 26th to Feb for you to get the coupon.

as of this moment mine still hasn't arrived... they did not indicate at the kiosk or on the phone when I called them exactly when it would arrive except to say sometime after the tuesday release...

I went ahead & bought mine at best buy today on the way home from work - tired of waiting for them...

If I remember correctly, it said you'll get coupon between 3-7 days after rental. I don't recall it saying "how" you will get the coupon, my guess (like most here) is through your e-mail address.

just got an e-mail stating that the coupon will be e-mailed within 7 days of rental... it also expires 4/26/10

Yep. I got the email tonight from Red Box and it linked to the exact same coupon. They're not "personalized" in any way, one size fits all.

Of course, you have to "want" the movie to care much about the coupon..... ;)

I like how it says "Coupon my not be reproduced, copied or transferred" yet even with my printer on the highest quality setting, it looks like a bad photocopy. I'm guessing this may be a YMMV if you get some "Super-clerk" or something.

Has anybody tried to price match at BB with or without this coupon?

I bought all 3 versions yesterday at best buy with the on line printed ad from toysrus in my hand - I didn't even have to ask the cust svc rep - she asked me when she saw it in my hand "do you have a price match?" I said yes and showed her - then she asked me why are you buying 3 so I told her the truth - there are 3 different versions (I just didn't mention what it said in bold letters on the front which is they're best buy exclusives)...

she didn't blink - ran it thru - took $7.00 off each one - called a manager to key in the override and I was on my way...

I think IF I had these coupons she would have allowed that as well but I was too impatient to wait for the email since I didn't know when it would arrive

I didn't see anything at toysrus.com either. Walmart.com has it listed for $23.86. My Best Buy has honored those before so I might try my luck with it tomorrow.

Sorry for the short reply, but I just assumed people knew their homepage address and would see the ad listed clearly on the front page. I did within 10 seconds. The other reason for the short reply was I was writing on my ipod touch and had my 2 y/o son screaming for me. Was just trying to be helpful.

Target's BD version has a dvd copy in it, they have it for $24.99. They took the coupon problem.

Tried that, but got shot down because it was not the same version.

I'm thinking of maybe selling the one I got at BB though seeing as they fetch over $50 and use the profits to buy either the UK or German version that will have all the features of both the WM and BB versions (German is about $40).

Anyone know yet if either the German or UK versions are region free?

Just checked amazon.de and it comes out to $47 roughly shipped (1 disc BD with all special features from all US releases, steelbook and all paper extras). Amazon.co.uk comes out to $27 and is not steelbook and no paper extras.

Probably on the 24 page booklet, but not on the 3 backstage passes and 4 postcards though. Not a problem for me though since I understand German (pretty similar to Norwegian). I'm leaning towards the UK version though since I could just keep the free steelbook from BB and it is a much better price.

Still need to find out if they are region free or not though. They are coming out on the 25th and I might miss out on the German edition since it is limited, but the UK one should be fine not preordering it. Someone might want to go for the Japanese version - it's only about $110 :)

Thanks for the heads up on this. Picked up the 2 disc limited edition blu ray from Best Buy. A bit on the pricey side, so the coupon helped!

Just a heads up that the amazon.de exclisive dropped in price from €23.97 to €14.97! Now I'm definitely ordering it. I had debated it for a while. Had put it in my cart and periodically checked back to see if it changed price or went out of stock. Just over $36 shipped to the US now :) I have the Best Buy SB and version 2 from them that I got for about $15-$16 after coupon and PM. Will be selling those for a nice profit and should come close to or even cover the purchase price for everything.

Also, for those afraid of ordering I can assure you all that even though the US version was region locked the European versions have all been confirmed region ABC (region free) including the special features that are also in HD. The German version has all the special features that all the US versions had combined onto one disc. It also contains all the backstage passes etc and it is all written in English. Everything on the disc is in English including menus. In fact the only German writing on this is on the top surface of the disc for the rating (different system than here). The whole thing comes ina BD sized SB.
For $25 you can order from amazon.co.uk. Their version has the same disc, but no SB and no backstage passes (just the 24 page booklet).

US customers really got screwed on this one domestically.

Just wanted to say thanks sotra. I enjoyed 'This Is It' but didn't think I would buy it to own. The deal on amazon.de made me change my mind.
