How do they get your email address? I haven't used Redbox for a long time, but I thought you just swipe your c/c and that's it...

No, each time you swipe you're offered the optional opportunity to enter your email address. It's the only way to get a receipt (and coupon I imagine), as redbox machines don't have printers.

Hmm, curious how this works too. I rented Moon from there today.

I too rented one of the titles in question... but so far have not recd the email with the coupon...

Just to clarify, when you enter your email it is linked to your credit card. The next time you swipe your credit card your email will pop up and it will say something to the effect of "is this you?"

And I've rented Julie & Julie and District 9 in the past couple of weeks through RedBox, no coupon here. Of course, I have absolutely no interest in buying a Michael Jackson movie so I'm not missing the coupons either.

I called redbox today on their toll free customer service line to inquire about the coupon... at first she acted like she had no idea what I was talking about... then changed completely and acted like she knew exactly what I was talking about...

said it doesn't come out until tuesday...

told her - I know that - I don't care about renting it - I want the coupon to buy it...

said the coupon doesn't come out until tuesday either and it should be emailed "soon after"...

we'll see

I rented District 9 last week and rented Moon just this morning. Used a free code for Moon so I don't know if that qualifies. Will keep and eye out Tuesday, but like most posters here, I am thoroughly uninterested in the product the coupon is advertising for.

I'm just curious about the procedure and whether a coupon will actually show up tomorrow or not.

I just came back from a Redbox. The screen says you have to rent any of those Sony Titles between Jan. 26th to Feb for you to get the coupon.

Did it say when and how you would get this mysterious coupon?? I'll gladly pay $1 for a rental to get a $3 coupon...I mean, net gain of $2, why not....

as of this moment mine still hasn't arrived... they did not indicate at the kiosk or on the phone when I called them exactly when it would arrive except to say sometime after the tuesday release...

I went ahead & bought mine at best buy today on the way home from work - tired of waiting for them...

If I remember correctly, it said you'll get coupon between 3-7 days after rental. I don't recall it saying "how" you will get the coupon, my guess (like most here) is through your e-mail address.

just got an e-mail stating that the coupon will be e-mailed within 7 days of rental... it also expires 4/26/10

Yep. I got the email tonight from Red Box and it linked to the exact same coupon. They're not "personalized" in any way, one size fits all.

Of course, you have to "want" the movie to care much about the coupon.....

I like how it says "Coupon my not be reproduced, copied or transferred" yet even with my printer on the highest quality setting, it looks like a bad photocopy. I'm guessing this may be a YMMV if you get some "Super-clerk" or something.

Has anybody tried to price match at BB with or without this coupon?

I bought all 3 versions yesterday at best buy with the on line printed ad from toysrus in my hand - I didn't even have to ask the cust svc rep - she asked me when she saw it in my hand "do you have a price match?" I said yes and showed her - then she asked me why are you buying 3 so I told her the truth - there are 3 different versions (I just didn't mention what it said in bold letters on the front which is they're best buy exclusives)...

she didn't blink - ran it thru - took $7.00 off each one - called a manager to key in the override and I was on my way...

I think IF I had these coupons she would have allowed that as well but I was too impatient to wait for the email since I didn't know when it would arrive
