Re: Harry Potter 6 - $15 at Wal-Mart (YMMV)
My Target gave me hell on the Walmart Price match. At first they told me the picture on the ad didn't match the cover which I explained it was a slip cover and under would be the same cover. Nope, they didn't wanna hear it. They told me it wasn't the same because (first excuse) the titles didn't match. The lady thought it was HP7 cause she was reading the sticker and not the cover (huh?). Second excuse, since the slip cover had the "exclusive" HP7 sticker she thought it was a Target only exclusive bonus so she tried to convince me it wasn't the same and the last excuse she tried was that it was a DVD+Blu Ray combo meaning in HER opinion again, "Not the same". I asked for the manager and they even went to check if all the BD versions were in fact combo DVD+BD. After 40 mins and 5 employees later they finally priced matched the Walmart ad. I swear Target employees are retarded. There was one girl who understood that it was the same but didn't wanna get in the middle of it all. If i had had her help, I wouldn't have spent so much time debating with 4 different women. In the end I walked away with it for $10.70 but it was a horrible experience, one I rather not go though again.

I got mine from WalMart cause I didn't want to deal with Target if they were going to give me problems. I went to check out and picked up Public Enemies also. When the girl rang up Enemies she said that is not price it should be ringing up for. I said ok, and she gave me the blu ray for the dvd price of $15.99. She didn't know that I had the blu ray and not the dvd version lol.

I had an email from amazon this evening indicating that they were lowering my price paid by an additional dollar to match the $14.99 price. I hadn't even bothered sending them a message because it's iffy to get them to give a reduction on something whose price has changed recently. (I've had 50/50 responses on my emails to them). This time, though, they did the right thing by me.
Thanks Amazon!

Target refused the price match for me. Their excuse was the ad scan didn't have the weekly ad dates on it. I agreed with them, but said "it clearly says December 8 for Harry Potter." They thought I was being sassy, and got even more rude at that point.
I find it funny that Target claims to allow price matching now, but you have to fight for it (and I am always re-directed to customer service). Isn't the point of price matching to make a SALE and take the sale away from your competition? I've been shot down for EVERY price match I have tried so far, and each time, I tell them "well, I guess I'm just going to get it at walmart (or best buy, depending on the item), then I walk out, leaving a cart full of items behind me. I guess they just don't care...

I would think that they wouldn't want to fight the price match and give the price to the customer to keep the business. Like kenbenobi posted, most of the time if I go to get a movie at Target, I pick other stuff up also. If I got the run around about the price match I'd do the same thing, tell them I'm taking my business elsewhere, and leave whatever else I was buying there. Working retail and since it's the Christmas season, I've always been told to do whatever it takes to keep our customers happy and to keep the business. That is why I didn't even bother trying Target. After all the problems I've had with Best Buy, and Target giving people problems, it's just not worth it.

It would seem that the majority of people have had smooth sailing at their local Target. You should give your store a go before dimissing them outright.
