I didn't mean to imply that I'd buy everything in the store ads on Amazon instead. Just everything I wanted, and if the price was matched. As you can see by my sig, I'm in Toronto, so Black Friday's are no-gos these days, anyways. But for decades, I used to live right on the border, and crossed it nearly every weekend, and I still couldn't be bothered getting up early to cross over to wait in lines to hunt for deals on Black Friday. I went later in the day for maybe two years in a row, found a couple of odds 'n ends each time, but other than that it was like any regular trip across the border. Except most of the really good stuff (to my tastes, anyways), was usually picked over by the noisy hordes before I could even get there.

So I cut out the BF trips and, at best, would kinda-sorta envy some of the deals I'd read about on sites like this one. Last year was the first year that I noticed Amazon price-matching just about everything I was interested in from the Best Buy/Target/Etc. flyers. I recall they also matched on non-media stuff as well (certain electronics, appliances, etc.). But yeah, I'm not sure they do everything, but they did enough to make me a very happy shopper without having to deal with the hassles of the stores.



Neither was I. But the person who actually prompted my comment mentioned a Sam's Club breakfast. I can't imagine that's much better.

Still, I can whip up a pretty mean breakfast at home—while I'm shopping on Amazon for good deals to ship to my U.S. post box.

I'd avoid BestBuy and Wal-Mart at all costs on BF. Target usually has the same stuff and now that they price match (don't know when they started but ain't gonna complain), have fewer crowds and often have their own sale stuff after the morning crowds, that's where I would go. I'd hope they would match BF sales. I may just stay home and check Amazon and other online sales rather than get drained by the crowds and madness of holiday shopping.

Monster vs Aliens was just an average movie. I wouldn't even pay $5 for the blu-ray.

I've never tried that. Anyways IMO Black Friday, for all intents and purposes, has become an event onto itself. Treat it as such and you can actually have fun with it. It's the one day of the year you can watch people do things that, any other time of the year nobody in their right mind would even THINK of doing!

PS Speaking of Sam's Club. The Breakfast they serve is just a Continental Breakfast. Danish Rolls, Bagels, Cream Cheese and the like. Nothing really fancy, however it's FREE, so don"t knock it!

I would check ahead of time if they will price match a BF sale though at Target. I know at Best Buy they could be sticklers about this in the past if it was one of the Doorbuster deals for example or Black Friday in example but in this day and age maybe it has changed with the econmy being what it is.

Now as far as Amazon is concerned that everyone is talking about. I assume you would just send them the links of the titles you want then at the other stores?

I'm with Schloob on this. Most stores that usually price match will not pricematch BF doorbuster prices. You can try and maybe get lucky, but it's still a YMMV situation.

How do you price match with amazon? Do you call their customer service before you purchase?

He's taking an educated guess. Amazon typically matches (no calling, they just drop prices) ad prices of various retail sales.

No guarantee they will do it on BF, but it wouldn't be surprising if they did.

FWIW, last year Amazon had just about all the deals online the night before. No need to even worry about waking up early on Black Friday IMO.

I think they will drop their prices to match on their own. They may refuse to do a price match request.

I believe Wal-Mart did but I may be wrong. I've never done it there.

I hope that's a joke? Shopping isn't what really matters at all. Sure, giving gifts is nice. But family and enjoying company is what matters. Making a nice wholesome breakfast at home with the whole family the day after T-day would be preferable to eating at IHOP or Dennys. BF is crazy. Like people die crazy. I'm happy Amazon has their customers' backs, protecting them from the choleric zombie morons at Wal-Mart or Best Buy the morning of black friday. And I'm not kidding. The bum rushes on black friday are truly a display of how sad life can be in a developed country. People fighting each other for a good deal? No thanks.

I have to confess I do go for the bargains, but as I mentioned before, like it or not, Black Friday has become an Event. Half the fun is watching everyone go nuts over the items they list in their flyers they've inserted in the Newspapers on the previous days. From what I've observed over the years, I have determined there are two types of shoppers on Black Friday.

1. The "Lone Eagle" - These Shoppers Scan the Ads on-Line and during Thanksgiving, deciding what Items are wanted the most and hitting the Stores that offer them at the appropiate times.

2. The "Team Player" - These Shoppers come in Groups, either Family or Friends, and have lists of items to get, as well as their Cell Phones to communicate with other Members. As you wait in line you will see them drop off someone to shop at that store, and hear them talking with their teammates checking in on each other. (Mom's at JC Penney, Dad's at Lowes, Junior's at Best Buy, His Brother or Sister is at Toys R Us ect.).

I am a member of the first group.

No matter what type you are, the NUMBER ONE RULE IS:

HAVE FUN!

Walmart specifically state in their BF ad that they price match any store.

Amazon will NOT take any PM requests. They work under a policy of PM other stores if they want to (and they usually do, but not always fast enough for some).

you can actually get thru the BB lines in 30 minutes at that hour of Black Friday??? Never mind time it takes to get into the store, and find the items, and are you teleporting to Target when done at BB?

I did one BF at Worst Buy one year and the lines were in one neverending loop around the store to check out. That's just madness.

What, no McDonalds at Wal-Mart?

Only thing I want that won't be available on Amazon is Gremlins, so I might venture out later in the afternoon to see if they have any left. Anything else is with Amazon. I like not paying tax (especially at 9.75% here)

I'm sure with the ads being out this early they will price match in time.

I think last BF was the first time I had noticed that Amazon pricematching other stores. I don't remember them doing it before then. This year they have nuts pricematching all the big retailers every week.

I don't think they will let us down this BF.
