I am in the similar boat. I had the 2d version, but I had read quite a few reviews which raved about an upgraded transfer and better sound mix - so, I decided it was worth the shot to upgrade. So far, I have been good with only upgrading those which I think justify it. Of course, all in the eye and ear of the beholder....

These local places give you nothing for trade ins.... lol
Only way I'd consider it if it had some new features or a different version which it doesn't...

Interesting ... at BN.com, There Will Be Blood shows another Blu-ray release coming out on 2/2/10.

Is this sale clearing out the old version in anticipation of the new one?

Possibly, but the new one will most likely be just a new slipcover tying in to the Oscars.

Paramount is calling it the Gold Collection or something like that.

In addition to Sweeney Todd, and TWBB, Tropic Thunder is also $9.89. First time I've seen this priced below $10

I just picked up "There Will Be Blood" from BN.com/military for $8.01 shipped.

Ordinarily I don't upgrade from DVD to Blu-ray unless they include better special features, but upgrading a movie this good to HD, plus eliminating that horrible DVD packaging from my collection is an exception I'll make.

Also Spiderwick Chronicles...

Wait a second, how did this become the B&N BD thread? I think this thread has been hijacked, lol...

FWIW, Paramount released TWBB with the gold slipcovers last year.

Ghost Rider and A Knight's Tale are 7.99 at Amazon.

DD has daily special -- these two are 7.83, but you may be able to combine w/ the 5 off 25 coupons.

Wish they'd stop tempting me with Ghost Rider, such a terrible film but for some reason I've been curious to see if it gets better or worse the second time around.

This reminds me of when DVD's started to get this low... the justification was "hey I only have to watch it twice to get my money's worth!" Gotta stop that.. lol.

Ditto. I hated this movie despite, or perhaps because of, the fact that I love the character and Nic Cage.

I picked up a ton of titles this week. Enough that I would admit I'll be watching them for the next 12 months! In reality I paid more for most of my dvds so $8-$10 each for BR doesn't bother me much.

It's not that bad of a movie. I thought it was cheesy fun. I bought the 2-disc set for like $4 and I think it's worth the money. Just remember to not take it seriously.

Amazon matched BN on Tropic Thunder at $9.99. Looks liked they also dropped There Will be Blood and Sweeny Todd back down too.

Wow, looks like Amazon does not want to be outdone by B&N. Thanks, tomharlett. A few more drops:

Courage Under Fire ($8.99)
Soul Men ($10.49)
Spy Game ($10.99)

Be advised that on Raging Bull, Amazon projects the ship date to be between December 26 and sometime early January 2010. Its very possible that it sends much sooner than that, but I dont want anyone to be shocked about that when they place their order.

ION, the Fast & Furious Lightning Deal doesnt seem to be nearly as popular as the Wolverine.

I received Raging Bull today! It pretty much showed up in 1 day, even though I selected 2-day free shipping. :)

Probably in part because people are confused (like I am) about there being 2 different Blu-Ray editions, not to mention some (like me) previously bought the HD-DVD and weren't able to find any reviews clearly stating what is better about this latest edition vs. the previous Blu-Ray vs. the previous HD-DVD.

Uh, the movie for $9.99 on Amazon is 'Fast and Furious.' The movie you previously bought on HD-DVD is 'The Fast and the Furious.' They are two completely different movies.

"Fast & Furious" != "The Fast And The Furious"

edit: What Stephen said.

While discussing the sub $10 Amazon Blu-Ray deals here, would anyone recommend Underworld Rise of the Lycans for $9.99 which is an upcoming deal? Reviews were pretty negative about this movie which I haven't seen. I liked the first 2 Underworlds and Van Helsing, but don't know if this would be worth risking $9.99.
