My only complaint with Nikita is, as with all of the Sony 2.35:1 AR Bds with subs, the subtitles spill over into the 16:9 black border. For people like me that use a constant width set up, it sucks. If you have a fixed screen, it's not a problem.
Other than that , no issues I could see with the image or the sound.
A big upgrade over what I used to have and a good value at under $10, imo.

Think of the way most movie theaters are these days. If you watch a 1.85:1 movie, you'll notice the curtains are drawn in a bit. For scope films, the curtains are pushed out. On a constant image height projection rig, there are no letterboxing bars on scope films. However, this means anything that's placed on the bars, like subtitles, are cropped out.
Josh Z wrote a couple of articles for High Def Digest about this:

Thanks, Adam. Yes, that's what I meant.
For such an advanced format, this is the one area that consistently disappoints.
HD DVD from the get go as far as I could tell, offered the ability to both re-size the subtitles, as well change their position. 4 years in and we are still getting Bds with subs fixed to the 16:9 AR regardless of the films actual AR

Matching up to the local stores, Serenity is now down to $9.99. I just might bite - my free trial of prime ends tomorrow (will I be able to get another 3 months for free?).

Serenity was one of my first BDs. I paid $19.99 when it was released. It was a triple-dip on the movie for me. I've owned both DVD versions prior.
